Walter Jr.--Flynn--is the only person Walt can talk to, and with, in his treasured pre- and "post"-Heisenberg mode. Dad is gets refreshed and reassured by moments with his one relatively appreciative audience member, although Flynn's long been aware of and increasingly frustrated by some levels of bullshit.

I actually think it's good that Junior has had minimal involvement in any of the plotlines, like his entire function is to keep everyone else grounded at least nominally in the everyday. He basically exists for the inevitable moment when he gets his heart broken.

Walt survives Hank, Jesse, Nazis and cancer and passes the loot on to Flynn... Final shot is a slow tracking shot up the driveway and into the White House revealing that Flynn has blown the fortune on muscle cars and bacon and eggs. Walt at the table, tries feebly to smile as Jr shows him his latest purchases of polo shirts from The Gap. Fade to black, as "You Can't Always Get What You Want" plays over credit roll.

Walt could use all his money to make a new nobel-style prize, and award it to himself and not any of his old colleagues.

just skimmed through this thread but a few points:

I don't understand what everyone thinks Jesse is going to tell Skylar. I mean she doesn't know every detail but she knows enough to know walt is a murderer. Jesse at the very least knows Skylar is well aware and at least somewhat compliant with the meth biz as shown in the scene where jesse and walt drop off meth gear to the carwash with skylar letting them in.

it would be v. interesting to see what the phone call to todd was about if not about killing jesse (which i still think it is because the child poisoner getting the child killer to kill the guy who will overlook anything except child killing seems pretty classically breaking bad in its logic).

then again maybe walt has worked out this is hanks doing after all. how hard would it be pinpoint the whereabouts of a cellphone given to him by Saul.

and holy crap is this the first smartphone weve seen on this show?

Obv BB started before smartphone saturation happened, and is set over 2 years rather than five years, so we're still only in 2010 at the latest if it was set at the time it started.

Also suspect criminals probably avoid smartphones like the plague because of the amount of data networks pull off them; gotta be way more traceable and incriminating than regular cellphones.

it always kinda seemed like walt jr. was originally supposed to be around 10 years old, but then RJ Mitte was cast and they never re-conceived the character completely.

show will end with Walt Jr losing his virginity. his girlfriend then curls up to him and says "hey there, how would you like to kick this night into high gear"...and pulls out a teenth of blue meth.

Walt Jr sweats, saying his dad would kill him, and asks where she got it. She says "from a low-level dealer...but the stuff itself was made by a mastermind, known only as Heisenberg". Later that night, the White family goes to dinner and Walt accidentally puts the reservation under Heisenberg and Walt Jr suddenly knows the horrifying truth....

Fade to the final credits roll of the series, set to "the statue got me high"

I'm not saying this is what will actually happen, but isn't the most straightforward explanation of the last scene that Jesse's (deliberately vague) threat to Walter was a push for Walt to decide to kill him in the hope that the DEA/police can get him right before he succeeds?

Hank wants Jesse dead, or at least doesn't mind if he dies as collateral. Skylar wants Jesse dead. Walt wants Jesse dead. Saul almost certainly would prefer it if Jesse were dead. Things not looking good for Jesse.

Hank said pretty explicitly that he didn't mind if Walt tried to whack Jesse during the sting because they'd have it all on tape.

that's not quite the same as wanting him dead.

He's definitely quite far along the continuum of 'I love Jesse'---->---->---->'I want Jesse dead' in my eyes. He now has incontrovertible proof that Jesse is a murdering junkie scumbag drug dealer, he already hated him anyway, and Jesse is the catalyst that's basically just smashed Hank's life up.

Jesse's basically boned now in that he's caught between two monomaniacal obsessives but "Walt wants Jesse dead" is a BIG assumption.

No, Walt is the catalyst that smashed Hank's life up. Hank is willing to callously use virtually anybody to take him down.

I don't think Jesse's plan is to goad Walt into putting a hit on him. I think he's cooking up something crazy and I can't wait to see what the fuck it is.

Ok, maybe 'wants him dead' is semantically a bit far, but Hank is sure as hell not giving a damn if Jesse dies, and is going to put him in life-or-death situations to try and bring Walt down.
