if it's not the hit it'd be weird of them to make you think it was, pointlessly weird given they're about to reveal whatever it is in the next episode anyway.
um... you've watched television before, right?!
― Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 14:22 (twelve years ago)
it doesn't need to be some curveball that isn't the hit for it to be dramatic tv
― Wantaway striker (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 14:24 (twelve years ago)
xpost The implication is that Todd has been active doing ... stuff all along, right? I mean, what is his relationship with Lydia? He obviously wasn't cooking. Does Lydia employ him or did someone have Todd help Lydia? The fact that Walt has his cell number handy says a lot, though whether it says anything important is another matter.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 14:29 (twelve years ago)
I listened to that BB podcast with Gilligan and the writers, and they talked pretty matter-of-factly about the last scene as being Walt deciding Jesse has to be killed. Don't think it's a fake-out.
I wonder if the contents of Jesse's confession pay off somehow in the next episode or two. Having them completely unseen by the audience seems like a set-up for a big reveal - but then Jesse was so fucked up and freaked out at the time, it seems implausible he could have consciously planted the seeds of much when it was taped.
― brio, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 14:31 (twelve years ago)
yeah Jesse's confession is unseen which immediately puts Walt's 'confession' wrong-footing to mind, but it did seem like they had a lot of the details. Obv it would have been a looong story, making myself lol at the idea of Jesse going 'well, let me paint the picture....' and the screen dissolving into S1 Ep1, the Whites at breakfast.

also when Walt called Todd I just kept thinking 'Rod... Todd... this is God'

was todd's uncle the guy who set them up with the pesticide front? but also a neo-nazi?
― Wantaway striker (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 14:39 (twelve years ago)
xp Todd was the cook for Declan, although they kicked him off the team after a couple batches that they didn't think were worth keeping him around for. Declan's people replaced him with their own cook, who was significantly worse, causing Lydia to step in and take down his gang and reinstall Todd, with Todd's uncle's connections as the criminal network.
So Todd is presumably the cook again, Declan is out of the picture, and Todd's uncle is the criminal connection to keep things running. Presumably Walt has some idea of this due to Todd's voicemail, but he might not have connected it all.

I am not sure if he's hardcore neo-nazi or just like prison-yard neo nazi

pesticide dudes were friends of saul's iirc, and todd was one of the pro thieves who worked for them.

this was established in the dialogue right before lydia had everyone shot

Todd's first couple of batches were ~75% purity but then third time around he caused a fire, so they went for their safe but sloppy option.

you guys really think jesse is going to confess to being heisenberg and walt's gonna get all prideful and barge into the DEA office and set them straight? are you serious??

thank you
― Wantaway striker (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 15:29 (twelve years ago)
like walt's already recorded a simpering video in which he plays his role down as far as possible.
thats like a sitcom move *realization of what he's done slowly dawns on walt's face as everybody laughs*

― Wantaway striker (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 15:38 (twelve years ago)
Jesse confessing to being Heisenberg would benefit precisely one person and that's Walt. It's a dumb theory.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 15:40 (twelve years ago)
Plus everybody who matters in the story who knows that Heisenberg exists already knows that Walt is definitely the guy. Lydia & Madrigal, Todd & the Nazis, Skylar, and Hank & Gomie all know Walt is Heisenberg - so who would Jesse be fooling if he confessed to being Heisenberg? Meth-heads? The general public of Albuquerque?

Big Head Todd and the Nazis
― Shart Week (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 15:52 (twelve years ago)
I know that Walt's real home is his sense of empire and security, but I'm not sure what could break that other than ripping apart his family or getting rid of his store of money. Maybe sabotaging his relationships with Lydia/Saul/Todd's family.

maybe Jesse's gonna become an EVEN better/more successful meth cook than Walt. that'll learn 'im.
― what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:00 (twelve years ago)
He doesn't even want those relationships. They were only means to ends. Skyler/Junior/Holly and the money to take care of them after he's dead are the only things that matter to him. It all goes back to S1E1 (and it's nice that Gilligan never loses that focus.) xxxp
― cops on horse (WilliamC), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:00 (twelve years ago)
As far as I'm aware, Jessie a) doesn't know that Walt's buried the money in the desert, b) doesn't know that Skyler's been involved and complicit for ages and c) doesn't know there's been a bloody coup in the meth operation. Pretty fucking big gaps in his knowledge. So it could be any of these and all of them could blow up in his face.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:03 (twelve years ago)
The end he needs right now is protection and economic security! If he didn't have Saul's network in the last two episodes, he'd have been fucked. Walt likes to think he's an island (or has built an island for his family with his economic security) but he's needed Jesse so many times.
― space is deep (mh), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:04 (twelve years ago)
He could tell Skyler/Walt Jr I guess. The second part of that would prob complete the ripping apart of family task.
― Wantaway striker (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:05 (twelve years ago)
Anything that facilitates another Jesse and Skyler scene is fine with me.

― Blandford Forum, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:10 (twelve years ago)
I know BB doesn't conform to Occam's Razor much - but the simplest interpretation of Jesse's threat to "hit you where you really live" seems like he plans to reveal the truth about Walt to Walt Jr.
This works plot-wise too because presumably Jesse has to convince Hank to be in on his plan, and Hank wants to get Walt Jr away from Walt so he would go for this.
― brio, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:13 (twelve years ago)
I reckon that's what's going to happen too, although I suspect he's going to go direct to Skyler rather than Junior. I can't remember if Jesse and Walter Jr have ever been in the same place at the same time.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:17 (twelve years ago)
Not sure Skyler and Walt Junior have ever been in the same place at the same time. At least not since breakfasts in season two.
― Wantaway striker (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:18 (twelve years ago)
for all we know about walt jr he could be running his own meth empire.
Also Todd and the Nazis trying to kill Jesse but going over-the-top with it and causing some tragic blowback for Walt is almost a given, I think.
"Sorry I had to shoot your baby, Mr. White, but she saw everything."
― brio, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:21 (twelve years ago)
Would Walt Jr wear a wire though? And wouldn't Walt just tell Jr his story about Hank being the meth kingpin?
― Blandford Forum, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:23 (twelve years ago)
100 per cent. I said already I reckon it's going to be Hank and Marie getting wasted in this showdown, poss Walt Jr too.
― Wantaway striker (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:24 (twelve years ago)
I think Junior's sympathies might lie with whoever is straight with him (finally, for once in his life) first.
― cops on horse (WilliamC), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 16:24 (twelve years ago)
Walter Junior totally idolises Hank though, he just wouldn't believe that. Also Walt had that weird breakdown in front of him last season, coupled with a shitload of other unexplained weird behaviour.
Someone at work pointed out that Walter Jr was wearing a hoodie like Jesse in the last episode so there could be a case of mistaken identity. I'm pretty sceptical about that given Todd has never seen Jesse being, y'know, obviously disabled, but that would be pretty fucking horrible all round.
