Pretty sure Skyler was already well aware of Walt's capacity for lying, but in any case she's in way too deep to do anything else at this point. She's one of the few characters that Walt has no real reason to turn on at this stage.

Matt DC, Monday, 26 August 2013 18:38 (twelve years ago)

that's what I figure. Lydia asked nicely and got turned down, now Todd's uncle is going to come through saying he won't take no for an answer.

^^^ this, plus Walt will see this as a way to get Hank off his back. "Bust the Nazis, you look like a hero for finally bringing down the meth operation (make sure all the perps die so they can't contradict you), let me die in peace, nobody knows about your rehab money, my kids are provided for." I can see Hank going for this, now that Walt has the squeeze on his balls via the video.

cops on horse (WilliamC), Monday, 26 August 2013 18:38 (twelve years ago)

hmm yeah that makes sense

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 26 August 2013 18:41 (twelve years ago)

that sounds right though not sure how it squares with m60 lone beardo

awake the snorting citizens (discreet), Monday, 26 August 2013 18:42 (twelve years ago)

it has to come out p publicly that walts heisenberg cuz y else would his neighbor drop her groceries

johnny crunch, Monday, 26 August 2013 18:43 (twelve years ago)

i don't think that video is actual leverage over hank, i mean there's no evidence for it whatsoever, it's just walt taunting hank & (inadvertently?) revealing the rehab financing

awake the snorting citizens (discreet), Monday, 26 August 2013 18:44 (twelve years ago)

no evidence for hank being a meth king i mean, that wouldn't stand up under even the slightest investigation

awake the snorting citizens (discreet), Monday, 26 August 2013 18:44 (twelve years ago)

Do they need any evidence other than all things pointing to Walt and him pointing to Hank? Not to mention Hank's monetary gain.

mh, Monday, 26 August 2013 18:47 (twelve years ago)

no evidence for walt either. and that's the point - it's one's word against another, and each can implicate the other pretty thoroughly.

xp

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 26 August 2013 18:47 (twelve years ago)

yeah walt's story may be patchy as fuck but it forces Hank to explain a lot of shit than the DEA won't want to help him with.

da croupier, Monday, 26 August 2013 18:48 (twelve years ago)

hank was already timid about the "why didn't I know earlier?" thing before Walt revealed how HE'D answer that question

da croupier, Monday, 26 August 2013 18:49 (twelve years ago)

Which makes more sense, high school chemistry teacher decides to get into meth, or corrupt DEA agent sees a way to use his connections to be an illicit drug kingpin?

mh, Monday, 26 August 2013 18:50 (twelve years ago)

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 26 August 2013 18:51 (twelve years ago)

the Fring thing and the $$$ look very, very bad

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 26 August 2013 18:51 (twelve years ago)

these are just stories you guys, no one's being prosecuted without testimony & evidence, which there is none of on hank's end. his career is over regardless, as he & walt both know

awake the snorting citizens (discreet), Monday, 26 August 2013 18:53 (twelve years ago)

shakey the only money connecting hank to the meth trade is the money walt spent on his rehab, it looks shitty but doesn't prove hank is a meth kingpin

awake the snorting citizens (discreet), Monday, 26 August 2013 18:56 (twelve years ago)

walt tells hank he can't arrest him because it would destroy the family, hank and marie make clear they're willing to take the kids and watch skylar and walt burn. walt makes clear that he'd do his damndest to make sure hank wouldn't even have the kids, let alone his career. the video doesn't have to be an airtight totally unsurmountable threat, it just makes clear how smart and how nihilistic an opponent hank is dealing with.

da croupier, Monday, 26 August 2013 18:58 (twelve years ago)

Why would Saul have Huell steal the weed from Jesse. Like if it was heroin I could understand but c'mon, dumb move. #legalizeit

polyphonic, Monday, 26 August 2013 18:59 (twelve years ago)

Hmm Jesse has like 1/16th in his pocket, better steal it and save this poor man from the grip of a marijuana addiction.

polyphonic, Monday, 26 August 2013 19:00 (twelve years ago)

xxp yea otm. i think it also shows (us, and maybe hank if hes perceptive enough) that walt is never truthfully admitting anything or cutting a deal or w/e

johnny crunch, Monday, 26 August 2013 19:01 (twelve years ago)

xp because the new identity guy was super paranoid and would call off the whole thing if he smelled the weed

Nhex, Monday, 26 August 2013 19:02 (twelve years ago)

ah right

what a weird new identity guy

polyphonic, Monday, 26 August 2013 19:05 (twelve years ago)

hey gustavo was the same way

da croupier, Monday, 26 August 2013 19:05 (twelve years ago)

it does make sense for a dude who is all about creating fresh identities to escape THE MAN

Nhex, Monday, 26 August 2013 19:07 (twelve years ago)

sXe identity fixer in a minivan

awake the snorting citizens (discreet), Monday, 26 August 2013 19:33 (twelve years ago)

would've been a good bit part for rollins, if he was still doing that kinda thing

awake the snorting citizens (discreet), Monday, 26 August 2013 19:34 (twelve years ago)

Solid policy for the identity fixer. You wouldn't want to go though all the trouble of creating a complete new identity for someone only to find out they smoking jazz cigarettes.

brio, Monday, 26 August 2013 20:04 (twelve years ago)

dude u r totally stoned how do u expect to remember yr new identity do u even know yr old identity

what the fuck was up with Todd just spilling the beans on the whole train adventure in the middle of a diner? just when I thought dude was a pretty decent criminal he's bragging up his exploits in a public place

mh, Monday, 26 August 2013 20:17 (twelve years ago)

yeah the whole crew was so amped after their killing spree they werent being too pro

lag∞n, Monday, 26 August 2013 20:18 (twelve years ago)

xps good interview thx

Nhex, Monday, 26 August 2013 20:24 (twelve years ago)

agree that Chekhov's Ricin is a weak link in the plot that disconcertingly seems to play an ever larger role. would be kinda neat though if it was never "fired," as it were. at the same time, hopefully there's a non-lame reason for Walt to go back for it.

ryan, Monday, 26 August 2013 20:25 (twelve years ago)

what the fuck was up with Todd just spilling the beans on the whole train adventure in the middle of a diner? just when I thought dude was a pretty decent criminal he's bragging up his exploits in a public place

He did leave out an important detail.

pplains, Monday, 26 August 2013 20:26 (twelve years ago)

they said their original idea was to just have walt go to the house and reminisce xp

lag∞n, Monday, 26 August 2013 20:27 (twelve years ago)

the Todd story was kinda funny and meta, the way he was recapping the episode and I was remembering how crazy it was idk I forgot to think about how dumb it was that he was even telling ppl about it, haha

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 26 August 2013 20:33 (twelve years ago)

totally follows that Todd would be braggin 'bout the train heist. dude is not exactly a mastermind here.

hes v polite tho

lag∞n, Monday, 26 August 2013 20:56 (twelve years ago)

However bad it would be for anybody to spill the beans, Hank or whomever, not only does the little ol neighbor lady spill a whole grocery bag when he speaks to here, as noted above, also, "HEISENBERG" is scrawled all over the wall, beyond which the skatr bois frolic---once again, we know some of what will happen, so it's getting to be more about how do they get there from here.
Re ricin leaps of logic etc. also remember: on that side of the screen, this whole story is happening in five quarters, not five seasons spread over what seven years or so. Jesse and the others have to grapple with all this shit pretty quickly.

dow, Monday, 26 August 2013 20:59 (twelve years ago)

wish someone would just put together the "what was goin' on in jesse's brain" montage that the show was too good for

da croupier, Monday, 26 August 2013 21:08 (twelve years ago)

though i mean if we get zippy montages of hank organizing his garage why can't we get that

da croupier, Monday, 26 August 2013 21:10 (twelve years ago)

"HEISENBERG" is scrawled all over the wall

conceivable to me that Jesse would do this

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 26 August 2013 21:10 (twelve years ago)

i did not notice a swear word in front of it.

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 26 August 2013 21:18 (twelve years ago)

i think todd was telling unkie adolph and pal that story so they would gain confidence in him for whatever they're planning in NM. As they are leaving, doesn't head white power guy say something like 'are you sure you can handle this?' and todd is all 'yeah. im good.'

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 26 August 2013 21:40 (twelve years ago)

he's telling his uncle and other dude to 1) promote himself and 2) demonstrate how methodical a genius heisenberg is. w/ ricin walt poisoned brock w/ lily of the valley (put it in his food iirc) to simulate symptoms of ricin poisoning, had saul have huell lift it off jesse
(here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Do19-dITUxc)
to create vaguely plausible story that gus took it off him and poisoned brock to cause jesse to distrust walt and at the time when jesse wasn't going to be able to protect walt was very nearly at hand (plus walt needed jesse to kill gus w/ his first plan, which gus beat w/ his spidey senses). saul who's regarded jesse as the way mike viewed walt (only dumber) since jesse was hiding out in the arcade if not longer is finally this close to getting rid of this problem and this moron/addict starts getting high. this close to being rid of him he decides not to take a chance that this moron is going to be 'sparking up a doobie' when vacuum man (who is NOT jim beaver correct?) comes, has huell lift it and what are the odds some moron like jesse is going to catch on to what happened.
walt makes videotape for hank to let him know just how it would destroy their families and just what lines of bullshit he'll sell to save himself and scuttle hank's case. it's not enough to actually put hank away and it may not be enough to save walt but it makes it more difficult. taking the whitman book was excusable, putting gps device on walt's car less so but closing the garage door and laying his cards on the table when he didn't have a strong hand was pure ego driven by outrage. maybe the jig was up anyway but you could possibly sell that marie thought walt was having an affair or something. when he was going after gus there's no way hank would've been that stupid or brash. this time it's personal.

balls, Monday, 26 August 2013 21:41 (twelve years ago)

I am forgetful: did we see Hank tell Marie when he found out about Walt? I can't remember it or her reaction.

kinder, Monday, 26 August 2013 21:43 (twelve years ago)

that reminds me even if walt had walked in and leaves of grass was there on the counter hank could easily explain how it ended up there w/ 'o sorry, MY WIFE'S A KLEPTO'.
