Your Boring Saturday Night

The pee rage

My wife is gone away overnight to attend a memorial for a dead friend of hers from before we married. I will stay home, cook a nice dinner, drink some wine, read a book, maybe watch some television or put on a DVD. The only problem comes when I should be going to bed. When she's away I always delay this sensible action until much too late into the night. SNL doesn't repay the time or effort, but I can't seem to drag myself to an empty bed.

had a weird sort of late lunch/early dinner of homemade chinese food and wontons at like 4pm

soooooo later this evening I'm gonna settle in with a bowl of top ramen, a pile of laundry to be folded...and probably Parentood episodes or a movie.

Cooking a pizza pie, more a pie than a pizza with alternating layers of meat, sauce and moz cheese. And watching too cute with August, who has learned to say cat.

made a new podcast episode, played with cat, cooked, ate, showered, sat by the air conditioner.

Drinking tea. Veedon Fleece. Trying to not have a panic attack over approaching deadlines.

i'm gonna take some time off of posting to ilx, starting now.

ended up skyping with my brother, that was p rad actually

due to jet lag i fell asleep at 7pm and woke up now.

good try, markers. I left for a month with no real announcement!

i've tried and failed to take like a month off of ilx. lot of instant gratification on this site. i feel sort of embarrassed about announcing i was leaving before. i meant it at the time.

does anyone have a netflix instant recommendation? i am thinking something arty, maybe european, that i wouldn't have heard of because i am bad about keeping up with film the way i do with music and lit.

i watched the amityville horrod docu. it sort of fizzles by the end without revealing or concluding much, apart from rather O_O (and unsurprising) emotional issues left in one of the now adult kid who went through whatever all of that was.

now having beers, dunno what else. hmm.

he's a compelling speaker that amityville guy. he should read crime novels on tape. some spillane. i closed my eyes and just listened to him when i watched some of that documentary.

yeah i totally agree. he's an intense dude and really made me want to believe it all happened.

I was super duper charming shmoozy union wife tonight. Exhausting! It was nice to dress up but stupid bottles of beer were ~$10~ each :(

i finished up an interview transcription of two soft-spoken women on a noisy australian soccer field. lots of static, to boot. i have a headache. blerg.

Had a fairly eventful Saturday night as far as these things go for me.

Mixed up a so-so Pimm's Cup and then cleaned up my music workstation. Once it was clean, I kicked back and listened to some Spotify and watched some SCGLive.

Next up the whole family listened to some of The Amber Spyglass audiobook and had pre-dinner apps of delice cheese and salami.

For dinner we had amazing rainbow trout in a butter sauce, potatoes, and cherry tomatoes.

Once my son was in bed, we watched Dredd and then episodes of Peep Show on Netflix.

Finally, my wife hunted down some drink recipes that would use up some of our excess bar supplies. I made her an Atlanta Belle and made myself a Dixie (apparently drinks that include bourbon and creme de menthe all have southern names). That quickly led to me plunging into dark unconsciousness.

I hate that everyone is asleep... officially, your boring Sunday morning.

my saturday night truly was boring, because i had to finish up a long transcription project for this client i'm working for that demands 98 percent accuracy. the proofer said i did a great job! i was worried i was going to get chewed out because i turned it in at midnight, but everything worked out.

even if the sky is fallin down i know that we'll be safe and sound
