i had all these people who had only ever emailed me once, maybe because of a craigslist ad or something, on my gchat list.... made me feel like a stranger in my own inbox

also whenever two people want to chat w/ each other but they both had gchat set to 'invisible'... ah... is there anything sadder... a sadder story was never told

nope, except I don't do gchat directly anymore, have my own jabber server running. Someday google will stop accepting incoming jabber messages and I won't be able to IM anyone.

I also am still on AIM with the screen name I got in 6th grade. There are people I chat with over AIM too.

i use Adium @ home but am confined to Windows at work

i use adium

there is just one person left I still talk to on AIM (via adium / aim express) exclusively, everyone else is on gchat. I used to still use AIM for file transfers since you can't really do that over gchat, but now Dropbox is a lot more convenient

Yeah expect Gchat and jabber support for it to vanish in favor of hangouts any day now.

I thought it was supposed to be gone already, otherwise I'd probably ignore hangouts as well

Verbs is pretty good as far as jabber/gchat-compatible apps go

phones Tuesday, all the thrill is gone these days, too many leaks from suppliers and accessory partners. at best we'll get to hear about the fingerprint reader (which, what) and maybe some nifty iOS 7 feature that they kept under NDA or didn't push to the developer builds or something.

But I guess the response would be that the iPhone 5 is fast enough for what it does now, but this will allow your phone to do more things.

If the 5C is $99 w/ contract, does that mean it will retail for $499 w/o?

I've discovered that the giant screen of my HTC One makes it worse for just about everything but games so I'm switching back to my 4S, I'd like to move up to a 5C or 5S at some point but they may be too expensive.

if you think the iPhone 5 is faaast then buy a 5C I guess

better (way better) camera, clever flash, 64 bit ON IPHONE, fingerprint sensor, slo-mo video etc.

but 5C has better battery life
