Question: would Walt have gotten out of the biz if he had not heard the cancer was back?
No.
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 07:54 (twelve years ago)
Someone on the net pointed out that the divorce lawyer Skyler talked to during season 3, the one to whom she confessed Walt is a drug dealer, is still sort of a loose end in the story. If Hank somehow manages to find her and question her, could she spill the beans on Skyler and Walt, or would that be a breach of attorney-client confidentiality? Could this be the smoking gun Hank needs? (Though I guess it's still second-hand knowledge, hardly enough prove anything.)
― Tuomas, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 08:40 (twelve years ago)
On the subject of loose ends.... When Jesse was cooking in Mexico they were videoing him. Later, while on one of their faux stakeouts, Walt asks Hank about the Mexican cartel bloodbath. Hank replies that as soon as they clear out the bodies they'll know more. Could Hank get hold of this tape then use Jesse to get Walt?
― "Max's Original Starship" Vol. 3 (sunny successor), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 08:50 (twelve years ago)
I'm not sure if Hanks needs that evidence anymore, since Jesse was found with millions of shady cash. And since Hank figured out it was Walt who arranged the fake phone call about Marie being in hospital when Hank was about to arrest Jesse, it means Hank now knows Jesse was working with Walt. Also, Jesse's clearly looking for absolution now, so all Hank needs to do is make Jesse get over his hatred of him, and then he'll get Jesse co-operating with the cops. I think it's almost certain this'll happen.
― Tuomas, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 08:59 (twelve years ago)
I don't think Jesse will rat anyone out. He may breakdown and confess he had some involvement in drew sharp's death but I seriously doubt he'd go so far turning Walt in
― "Max's Original Starship" Vol. 3 (sunny successor), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 09:32 (twelve years ago)
But yeah he clearly hates him now
― "Max's Original Starship" Vol. 3 (sunny successor), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 09:37 (twelve years ago)
It's also interesting that he didn't call Saul when those jerk off FBI dudes had him in a room again. It's like he's not even interested in spinning a story. He's just silent like he doesn't care what they do.
― "Max's Original Starship" Vol. 3 (sunny successor), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 09:41 (twelve years ago)
Jesse didn't have a single word of dialogue in that episode, did he?

Good god yes. It would also be hearsay.

Just saw the ep. This is quality TV. There's a shot in the desert that's framed through a rock that looks like a closing fist. That's not a coincidence.
What's to stop anyone from taking the money in a big boat to some off-shore account? Of course, I don't know how one goes about depositing millions in stacks of cash anywhere. You're better off just chucking it out the window like Jesse.
Man, maybe Jesse does rat him out, and Walt is getting the ricin to take out Jesse. I can imagine Walt at this (that) point being so enraged at Jesse the Rat that he turns himself in just to get close to him to kill him. "Have a cigarette, buddy."
BTW, irony a la "The Shield" would leave everyone gone or jailed or dead except Walt, who is left free (cancer or otherwise) and presumed innocent but constantly under watch and unable to spend his money.
This show.

Walt being alive but unacknowledged and powerless would be the worse punishment for him, actually.

I do wonder if that will be addressed more! Or is Walt just so damn tired and beat up at this point he doesn't care anymore...
― Nhex, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 14:49 (twelve years ago)
I wonder who the ricin is for. Skyler seems to be well out of the picture in the future scenes so I assume the kids are with hank and Marie or Skyler (assuming she's still alive which she probably isn't). I imagine Lydia's death will be bloody and brutal. Ditto for Todd if he does die. Jesse doesn't seem likely. Saul isn't going to die. Todd's uncle nazi and friends will probably just fade away. This leaves me with two theories: 1) Walt, having lost everything and dying of cancer takes it himself 2) Walt ricin's Marie because he knows Marie dying is Hank's most dreaded fear and that it will destroy him.

someone upthread said it's not nice to die of ricining
― conrad, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 14:58 (twelve years ago)
I know I seem to be in a minority here, and i know part of the show was to get everyone to hate Walt, but I really don't think it's going to go that way. I think we've already seen enough things to hate Walt and now that we're coming to the end they're setting up Todd + Lydia + Nazis as the real bad guys and we'll be able to root for Walt at the end to take care of them and the show will end without everyone feeling so terrible about themselves. I'll say it now, Walt is not going to kill Hank, Marie, Rebar or Jesse.
The scene of Todd and Lydia walking through the field of drug dealers I think just serves to show two psychopaths who are more frightening than Walt.

i'm not predict-y but i'm kind of on board with this. def not in the "desperately hoping walt kills skyler" camp

Never felt that Walt would kill Skyler (not that that means it won't happen). We've never been really clear what his real feelings are towards her.
― kinder, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 17:31 (twelve years ago)

I'll say it now, Walt is not going to kill Hank, Marie, Rebar or Jesse.
I don't think there'll be a Kill 'Em All ending either, but no way is BB gonna redeem Walt! The main arc of the entire series has been his slippery slope into villaindom, so Walt being triumphant at the end just so the viewers can root for him would be a total cop-out. Plus they already did the trick where you root for Walt because he's against a bigger bad guy with Gus, so doing it again would be redundant. I think most of the viewers would be satisfied with an "happy" ending where Walt is punished for his sins, but Hank & Marie + Walt Jr. & Holly continue with their lives. Jesse and Skyler can go either way, IMO.
