im always completely charmed by how polite todd is and then i remember hes a fucking psycho

I often wonder if this show can pull off the task it seems to set for itself--in terms of making Walt the villain and really turning the audience against him rather than just get us to intellectually agree he is immoral or whatever--since (if indeed that is what they are trying to do) that would set them against pretty powerful narrative forces and a charismatic performance. I think even now ("tread lightly") there's an illicit thrill in Walt's gangsterisms that sorta renders the moralism of the show moot.

it seems like most people hate walt now though... or at least find him hard to root for, even if they're not rooting against him. once he turned into gus he became too steely and smug to get much of a kick out of (except for "i used to love to go camping" which was mad funny). though i like tuomas' point about not wanting the show to end = you're rooting for walt in a way

its also funny that lagoon was talking about "fear of art" upthread but all his posts now are pedantic complaining about characters not being rational actors
