iPhone 6 concept

groovypanda, Thursday, 15 August 2013 09:19 (twelve years ago)

why do people do these things, do they think apple will notice and give them a job

socki (s1ocki), Thursday, 15 August 2013 13:20 (twelve years ago)

Also, that looks terrible.

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Thursday, 15 August 2013 13:35 (twelve years ago)

Apple's not giving a job to anyone who points out how many things they'll never roll out except for one thing at the same time.

One thing to remember about MacBooks: the internal construction is actually designed to funnel any liquid spilled on the keyboard straight to the "logic board" (Applespeak for motherboard), so be careful with those beverages!!

Thinking of treating my old MBP with a fancy SSD drive. Is it easy to install? How do I migrate my old HD's content?

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Thursday, 15 August 2013 13:58 (twelve years ago)

which MBP? Depends a lot on the model. The removable battery type are way easier than the sealed ones, iirc

stet, Thursday, 15 August 2013 14:06 (twelve years ago)

4 y.o. I think?

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Thursday, 15 August 2013 14:15 (twelve years ago)

http://www.macsales.com

can help you find the right SSD for your device. They will also bundle an enclosure so you can copy from your old drive to the new one.

Nhex, Monday, 19 August 2013 05:12 (twelve years ago)

ugly-ass mock-ups are an apple rumors tradition.

imessage needs help

markers, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 18:54 (twelve years ago)

i have it turned off. texts are free; what's the point of it?

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 18:55 (twelve years ago)

for one i don't have an iphone

markers, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 18:55 (twelve years ago)

i have sms on my feature phone and imessage on my ipad and mac

markers, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 18:55 (twelve years ago)

i use it exclusively to talk to two ppl btw

markers, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 18:56 (twelve years ago)

everyone else gets filtered through facebook or email or whatever. but it's a decent direct channel, despite its failings

- text message from your keyboard
- text message ppl in other countries
- group text convos

socki (s1ocki), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:07 (twelve years ago)

whatsapp, wechat, line, etc. all better than imessage

乒乓, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:10 (twelve years ago)

text messages are free? i don't pay for a text plan (which a min $10 extra on my carrier now, bleah) so iMessage is a godsend; most of my friends have iPhones or iPods

Nhex, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:14 (twelve years ago)

xpost the ppl i give a shit abt talking to don't use that shit

markers, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:17 (twelve years ago)

facebook works fine for most purposes, actually.

v useful to be able to "text" using the internet if you live in a mobile phone developing country, e.g. the usa.

caek, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:22 (twelve years ago)

I've got one important iMessage group chat and it's useful for messaging my partner who has an old slider phone and limited texts, but has an iPod touch. Nobody I know uses whatsapp, as far as I know.

i too went to college (silby), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:22 (twelve years ago)

yeah a lot of this stuff obv depends on who you're trying to reach

markers, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:34 (twelve years ago)

iMessage is a lot better than those others because it's transparent and will default back to text, imo

google needs to get their shit together in some ways, though, because I would text a friend and his response would go to google talk back in the day since I wasn't on an android device but DID have a google talk acct

mh, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:38 (twelve years ago)

i wonder how hangouts is doing for them

markers, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:41 (twelve years ago)

it works better, in my experience, when it comes to sending things intelligently

mh, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:42 (twelve years ago)

does gchat have an official app? i would use that all the time

Nhex, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:44 (twelve years ago)

i think hangouts might be what you're looking for

markers, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:46 (twelve years ago)

someone back me up on this tho

markers, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:46 (twelve years ago)

yeah, gchat is/will be retired in lieu of hangouts and it has an app

mh, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:48 (twelve years ago)

how many of you use gchat and how extensively? i'm curious b/c, while i've used it before, i def don't use it now and uninstalled hangouts from my ipad

markers, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:49 (twelve years ago)

no one uses aim, right?

markers, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 19:49 (twelve years ago)

i can't remember the last time i logged onto that, but it has to have been at least like . . . well over three/four years ago or w/e
