Am I the only person who thinks Walt isn't jumping at the idea of killing Hank? He's trying (even if failing), at reestablishing some sort of normalcy. Wants to leave his family wealthy and happy. Obviously he'll do what he has to do to protect his money and immediate family, but I don't see him, as cold as he is, being totally excited about the idea of offing Hank.

i don't think he's jumping at the idea but i think he'd more readily off hank than say jess

walt combines the ricin with mercury fulminate and kills 3 sq blocks of albuquerque residents, gets arrested by homeland security as terrorist, leaves the DEA wringing their hands on the sidelines, hank ends up mute in a wheelchair with a lil purple bell on it

this ep was good. agree that it's great the show gave us the walt/hank showdown straight away. other, dumber shows would drag this out cos they have nothing else to replace it, with breaking bad you know they won't run out of story, they just back themselves as writers.

yeah thank fuck they didn't make this a whole cat and mouse season with hank and walt "does he know" bullshit. the only right way to play it was pretty much how they played it.

killing skylar is the obvious ultimate end of his progression, though right? she's his super-ego, and his id has been trying to get rid of her since the beginning. I can't see how they could avoid it as a possibility before the show runs its course.

I can't really predict what rationale he would have for murdering her but predictions are a fool's game

his family is the one thing he's tried to keep sacrosanct/maintain the illusion that it's "all for them" etc. - he was momentarily taken aback at Hank's "fuck family" or whatever it was Hank said this last episode

yeah - totally accept predictions are a fool's game etc and I could be wrong - but it just seems the question of "would walt hurt his own family?" is already set up with the hank conflict... and as this show is all about a gradual descent it seems like a real possibility that they'll up the ante from hank to skylar

walt either on the lam or in witness protection, both seem possible. obviously everyone in the community finds out who he was and at least part of what he was responsible for, hence the kids hanging out in the abandoned drug dealer house, tagging it, and skating in the pool. the symmetry of him saying hi to the neighbor in the present and future was a good signpost of the way things will go
