I had no idea
[Brown noise] decreases in power by 12 dB per octave (40 dB per decade) and, when heard, has a "damped" or "soft" quality compared to white and pink noise. The sound is a low roar resembling a waterfall or heavy rainfall. See also purple noise, which is a 12 dB increase per octave.

the white on simplynoise would increase my stress levels, I think. So hissy
― Kiarostami bag (milo z), Wednesday, 14 August 2013 03:08 (twelve years ago)
brown!
― markers, Wednesday, 14 August 2013 03:11 (twelve years ago)
Nice, milo. I could live with that, though the desk fan that blows on my face all night is pretty good, too. Until the fan death.
― potatoes-in-law (Je55e), Wednesday, 14 August 2013 03:16 (twelve years ago)
is fan death when the fan dies or when you die from having the fan on all night and it steals your soul or whatever that supposedly does to you?
― i too went to college (silby), Wednesday, 14 August 2013 04:59 (twelve years ago)
I prefer brown over white noise.

― markers, Friday, 16 August 2013 16:50 (twelve years ago)
right now i have iawriter on my ipad, which i don't really use, although i think it's a minimal thing v. this which, w/ python shit and all, is not
― markers, Friday, 16 August 2013 16:56 (twelve years ago)
iawriter is really really good if you want to hook up yr bluetooth keyboard to yr phone - you basically get a full screen notetaking app that syncs with your computer/s.
I just take my keyboard and phone to the library or if I've got serious travel these days and use that combination.
if drafts had the same full screen option, I wd be v v happy.
― Fizzles, Friday, 16 August 2013 18:00 (twelve years ago)
Iawriter fan here too, never thought I'd get used to it but I can write articles with it now on my iPad. Editorial looks next level awesomeness!
― In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Friday, 16 August 2013 18:26 (twelve years ago)
ok that review of editorial is insanely long. it lets you type text and shows it to you right. also i guess scripting?
maybe he doesn't need a better text editor, but just you know a better editor, huh.

This Markdown shit needs to go away now UIKit has proper rich text editing. Export in it, sure, and offer it for markup nerds, but it shouldn't be the default option in every damn thing like it's the only true way to write.
MacWrite was bolding shit in 1984, we're beyond *this* now.

I want a simple, minimal timer that lets me create several custom labeled timer presets (i.e. a 30-minute preset called "Lunch break")
this is so simple! it must exist!
― TITTWISORTH (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 6 September 2013 04:05 (twelve years ago)
if it doesn't that is a potential goldmine
― Treeship, Friday, 6 September 2013 04:11 (twelve years ago)
lol I found 3 free ones; will review and report back!!

Xpost
It's called Timer+. It's free. Search for "timer" on the App Store, and it's the first item that comes up.
― schwantz, Friday, 6 September 2013 04:15 (twelve years ago)
that is one of the ones!! there are others that go the "pretty" route (like Clear) but idk if they're any decent.
― TITTWISORTH (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 6 September 2013 04:17 (twelve years ago)
isn't clear a todo list app, not a timer?
― markers, Friday, 6 September 2013 04:32 (twelve years ago)
yes but what I mean is that it's a v simple app that is extremely pretty and thoughtfully designed and intuitive

I'm in the "iPhone cases are for disgusting savages" camp but the ones with holes in them that go with the 5c are kinda stylish.
― i too went to college (silby), Tuesday, 17 September 2013 18:28 (twelve years ago)
I have one of these stuck to the outside of the case on my iPhone and it's awesome.

When I saw those new 5c covers my first thought was of all the fluff and bits which would get stuck in the holes while it rattled around in my handbag.

u can get yr glass replaced p cheap at a third party place or even cheaper if you buy a kit, like cheaper than a lot of cases
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 02:26 (twelve years ago)
I think my case was $15!
― Jeff, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 02:49 (twelve years ago)
Mine was $1.50 shipping included from eBay. Not an otterbox by any means but it does the job.
