tidying up the apartment, which was pretty tidy already thanks to a recent cleaning binge. mostly doing dishes, picking things up off the floor, sweeping up. we have people coming over tonight.

exciting. i have cleaning to do but mostly i just want to lie down.

Looking at Maine rental properties AGAIN because the dick we're renting from "forgot to update the calendar" when somebody reserved the house from him for our dates back in May.

that is a terrible movie but the book is aiight

i have my laptop again. it was at the apple store, in repairs, for five days

they fix whatever was fucked up w/ it?

they fixed the main thing that was wrong with it but now the internal speakers don't work, and the laptop only has sound when either headphones or speakers are plugged in. apparently this is an easy fix though, but i am going to need to bring it back in

watched this movie tonight. it was amazing.

I can't party like I used to. maybe it was cuz I showed up early to help the host get a keg, but like 4 hours in, all the beer/jello shots made me sleepy and they let me 'nap' on one of their guest beds. by 9:30, it was a night. oi. :/

PLUS....now, with my worsening reflux issues, the beer gave me some of the worst heartburn I've had in my life.

still a fun party tho, but I do miss the days where I could party til 3 in the morning...

went to the state beach in ventura and dipped my toes in the water. mostly sat on the blanket and watched the dogs running around. had lunch at a brewery and drank a nice doppelbock. bought souvenirs on main street: a white shawl that looks like a big doily, a cedarwood/thyme/basil soy candle, a copy of the NYT new england heritage cookbook so i can make a nice cape cod style fish stew or seafood chowder or w/e.

now we're home and we're bothering our cat.

going to a housewarming party, need to do laundry, but roommate is washing his girlfriends underwear right now.

tried to get mk2 to watch star trek with me, but he got bored, so i am now stuck in the west wing with box of wine and the archive.

Paaaaarty! For my friend whose birthday it is and who appears to so far be recovering from really aggressive breast cancer treatment over the last year.

that's awesome, in orbit (the latter). had a friend of mine go through that a few years ago. all signs lookin good (so far)?

xp It's too early to declare recovery but scan shows nothing right now after chemo/surgery/radiation + drastic lifestyle change, radical dietary change, total personal 180 in energy and outlook.

'west wing' = extension we had built.

it is my zone of noise i.e. the location of the inept ireallylovemusic soundsystem, and my special place when the monsters take control of the tv.

I am jealous of you Mark, my equivalent of a west wing is the kitchen.

well, this is basically the kitchen with an extra room on the side, but its away from the neighbours/kids etc

has been an essential factor in my world in the last 18 months.

My equivalent of a west wing at this moment is a little iPod speaker in our living room

A friend of mine, who is unlikely to ever have any children, once made a joke about building "a children's wing...in Switzerland" that I've never forgotten. That's my kind of parenting.

yeah, when we had the extension built we joked re having security doors added so only us old'uns could use it.

as it is, the tv/ps3 etc means it really is my space now ...

i am very fortunate as despite hq being an old 1940s semi detached i can play music loud, and no-one else can hear ...
