I can't believe we made it!

I would like to have a BB season premiere party but it would involve sitting around refreshing Pirate Bay for a couple of hours then spending an hour torrenting the episode then finally getting to watch it at about 6am. With that in mind, who's in?

i have just had a really stupid convo w/ someone at work abt different US time zones and breaking bad screentimes - i guess my question is, will people on the east coast see the new episode before people on the west coast?

i heard uk netflix gets it 24 hrs afterwards which likewise makes little sense, i.e. 3am tuesday morning?

WF, East Coast and Central time zones watch it simultaneously (11:30pm East and 10:30pm Central) and the Pacific Time Zone watches it 11:30pm their time (three hours later than East Coast)unless you have an east coast feed which will show it at 8:30 pacific time. Not sure what mountain does.

listening to Vince Gilligan on the Nerdist podcast and maaaan I'm geeking out so hard, I can't wait for Sunday

having finally caught everything on netflix, inc blasting through s5.1 last week, this is the first batch I'll be seeing in real time. I'd actually prefer to watch it in mini-marathons like i have, but there's no way i can wait til that's an option.

though by "real time" i mean "off my dvr". Still skipping ads.

VG seems like a very decent sort of dude. Like, it's hard to know what these dudes are like to actually work for vs talking about working but in everything he talks about on Nerdist he's so generous with his praise, he rarely takes any credit for anything except the stuff that doesn't work, lol

i dunno, I'm just thinking about him vs other showrunners like Dan Harmon or Joss Whedon where the conversation remains very much about them (and I like both of them). Gilligan is constantly singing the praises of everyone he works with in a not-kiss-assy way, that just makes me like him a whole lot

oh man, in all of those BB Insider podcasts he is like that. Amazing that breaking bad came out of such an affable guy.

yeah I agree. even the ones I like, I'm like, I would not want to piss them off.

Yeah, I think compared to Harmon and Whedon (who I like too), Gilligan projects a sense of appreciating the shit out of how lucky he is to be able to do what he does. It's not that I think Harmon and Whedon are unappreciative, but there's a streak (strong in Harmon, not as much in Whedon) of "I deserve this" with them.

I'd never heard of the 'clockwork universe' but I tried to write a post a few weeks ago along these lines about the contrived-ness of the BB universe and how they do it so well (then deleted it because I couldn't put it into words like this):

I don't mind a bit of 'contrived' as all works of fiction are contrived, just some less hokey or dull than others. I don't mind Walt meeting Jane's dad in the bar, for example. The one thing so far that has me frowning slightly is the sheer mechanics of Walt getting to Brock at the end of S4 (as well as the DEA having Gus's fingerprints on file but I've argued that in another thread and I'm just going to go with the assumption they keep them on file when Gus entered the country).
