i watched the shark week thing they did on discovery, it was kinda forced & stupid as hell as expected but i kinda loved it

There was no shark bite follow-up?

they kinda follow up within the episode? he shows back up with his forearm in a kind of soft cast thing and they do a straight forward dive after the bite segment to show that sharks wont bite you if you dont cannonball into their hood

it was basically “all’s well that ends well dont do dumb shit around sharks”

I would so love to watch this with my soon to be 7 year old but realize that would probably make me a terrible parent. But man would it be hilarious.

i watched all of these recently and while the fellas are physically running out of gas by 3 it's all still up there with my favorite cinema of all-time

i think it has a lot to do with how much they genuinely like each other & the inherent youthfulness in the stupid joy they give each other & the audience. i think that makes it weirdly eternal

One thing I also love about Jackass is that they nearly always pull pranks on each other rather than random people, and it has a remarkably KIP vibe for what could easily get ugly

I tried to rewatch one of Bam's CKY movies recently and had to turn it off. The vibe is gross, lots of slurs, mean pranks on strangers. Even though it has a bunch of the elements I like about Jackass

I've showed my kids a couple of clips here and there and they just don't really get it. I've gotta assume a steady diet of tik tok et al has innured them to some of it's charms. At the same time, there are some Jackass gross eating gags I just don't think I can stomach anymore. Downing freshly expressed horse semen? Eating a vomit omelette? I dunno, man ...

yeah the paper cut bit is by far the most upsetting one for me, have never been able to watch it.

thats interesting about your kids josh. never thought of it that way but i guess that raw skate video clip look that felt so fresh and exciting at the time (no host, no sets, not plot, no point) is the dominant format of online video now & must not look special at all to young eyes.

first time I saw the first movie was in high school with like 15 other people, literally no one could watch the papercut scene. its annoying but I guess that's part of their thing, it's not Jackass if they can't freak out the entire audience

Mentioned before, but a hunk of the Jackass crew was maybe two years younger than me at my high school. Lots of the show and movies feature destruction of/at sites in and around my home town. Couple of the jackasses bullied my younger sister so bad (I was gone by then, iirc) she left school early.

Because it's a lot more relatable than some of the other stuff. Croquet ball in the nuts? A rare experience. Savage paper cut from a manila envelope? We've all felt that pain.

I am so excited for this movie. Hope Wee Man gets a decent amount of screen time. I rewatched two of these recently and honestly I think my favourite scene was him not getting that the chair was electric and that he was convinced they had a secret card throwing machine.

I'm all in, but why so many archive clips in the trailer? I think I read that there would be archive Bam, to get around the bad blood, but seemed like a lot of old stuff I recognized in there, too.

the title might be a hint at that, whenever they get around to revealing it

tangentially related to this revive, also bcuz i don't know where to post about this on ILX -- did anyone see the movie The Piano Accident (2025) starring Adèle Exarchopoulos? not to give away too much but the lead character and conceit of the film is inspired by 'jackass' -- and i mean that literally, in flashbacks we see the lead as a young girl watching 'jackass' episodes w/ her father. it's more of a satire of mr. beast core but also touches on something real about 'jackass' culture that i haven't seen woven into the plot of a fictional film, great movie and Adéle is incredible, i think johnny knoxville would be proud
