i mean how could Eric Andre *not* be in this

frogbs, Tuesday, 20 July 2021 17:07 (four years ago)

ah it looks so stupid i cannot wait :D

i watched the shark week thing they did on discovery, it was kinda forced & stupid as hell as expected but i kinda loved it

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 20 July 2021 17:09 (four years ago)

There was no shark bite follow-up?

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 20 July 2021 17:11 (four years ago)

they kinda follow up within the episode? he shows back up with his forearm in a kind of soft cast thing and they do a straight forward dive after the bite segment to show that sharks wont bite you if you dont cannonball into their hood

it was basically “all’s well that ends well dont do dumb shit around sharks”

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 20 July 2021 17:15 (four years ago)

I would so love to watch this with my soon to be 7 year old but realize that would probably make me a terrible parent. But man would it be hilarious.

joygoat, Tuesday, 20 July 2021 23:25 (four years ago)

or the BEST parent…?

no, terrible parent, you’re right lol

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 21 July 2021 00:42 (four years ago)

The whole series and all the movies should be in the Criterion Collection. In packaging at least as fancy as their Godzilla set.

but also fuck you (unperson), Wednesday, 21 July 2021 00:59 (four years ago)

agreeeeeeeeee

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 21 July 2021 01:04 (four years ago)

i watched all of these recently and while the fellas are physically running out of gas by 3 it's all still up there with my favorite cinema of all-time

Clay, Wednesday, 21 July 2021 01:10 (four years ago)

i think it has a lot to do with how much they genuinely like each other & the inherent youthfulness in the stupid joy they give each other & the audience. i think that makes it weirdly eternal

also nut shots

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 21 July 2021 01:59 (four years ago)

the GQ article/interview recently was amazing

J Edgar Noothgrush (Joan Crawford Loves Chachi), Wednesday, 21 July 2021 02:19 (four years ago)

One thing I also love about Jackass is that they nearly always pull pranks on each other rather than random people, and it has a remarkably KIP vibe for what could easily get ugly

I tried to rewatch one of Bam's CKY movies recently and had to turn it off. The vibe is gross, lots of slurs, mean pranks on strangers. Even though it has a bunch of the elements I like about Jackass

Vinnie, Wednesday, 21 July 2021 23:31 (four years ago)

100% agree

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 21 July 2021 23:48 (four years ago)

Oh so golfers aren’t people

frogbs, Thursday, 22 July 2021 00:08 (four years ago)

Gotta say when the “Corona” riff came in I got a bit misty eyed

frogbs, Thursday, 22 July 2021 00:15 (four years ago)

golfers aren’t people

It's ok to punch up

Vinnie, Thursday, 22 July 2021 00:23 (four years ago)

But I think I am probably underestimating the number of pranks they pull on strangers. Maybe it's better to say they save their worst stuff for each other

Vinnie, Thursday, 22 July 2021 00:32 (four years ago)

i have bursitis

a (waterface), Thursday, 22 July 2021 11:52 (four years ago)

I've showed my kids a couple of clips here and there and they just don't really get it. I've gotta assume a steady diet of tik tok et al has innured them to some of it's charms. At the same time, there are some Jackass gross eating gags I just don't think I can stomach anymore. Downing freshly expressed horse semen? Eating a vomit omelette? I dunno, man ...

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 22 July 2021 12:16 (four years ago)

I don't remember if they're from the show or the movies but I can't watch the fishhook or paper cut sketches

Vinnie, Thursday, 22 July 2021 13:05 (four years ago)

yeah the paper cut bit is by far the most upsetting one for me, have never been able to watch it.

thats interesting about your kids josh. never thought of it that way but i guess that raw skate video clip look that felt so fresh and exciting at the time (no host, no sets, not plot, no point) is the dominant format of online video now & must not look special at all to young eyes.

nobody like my rap (One Eye Open), Thursday, 22 July 2021 13:23 (four years ago)

first time I saw the first movie was in high school with like 15 other people, literally no one could watch the papercut scene. its annoying but I guess that's part of their thing, it's not Jackass if they can't freak out the entire audience

frogbs, Thursday, 22 July 2021 13:53 (four years ago)

Mentioned before, but a hunk of the Jackass crew was maybe two years younger than me at my high school. Lots of the show and movies feature destruction of/at sites in and around my home town. Couple of the jackasses bullied my younger sister so bad (I was gone by then, iirc) she left school early.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 22 July 2021 13:59 (four years ago)

Because it's a lot more relatable than some of the other stuff. Croquet ball in the nuts? A rare experience. Savage paper cut from a manila envelope? We've all felt that pain.

but also fuck you (unperson), Thursday, 22 July 2021 14:41 (four years ago)

i will totally go see this and i apologize for nothing

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Thursday, 22 July 2021 15:26 (four years ago)

wow josh i must have missed that whenever you talked about it - does the stuff w/your sister spoil your enjoyment of it at all?

nobody like my rap (One Eye Open), Thursday, 22 July 2021 15:33 (four years ago)

I feel like Knoxville and Steve-O are probably good guys. The rest all seem like people you would not want to know IRL

Number None, Thursday, 22 July 2021 16:44 (four years ago)

bam obviously has his demons but seems like a totally shithead

《Myst1kOblivi0n》 (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 22 July 2021 16:56 (four years ago)

definitely watching this in the theatre after ripping a bifter outside

《Myst1kOblivi0n》 (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 22 July 2021 16:57 (four years ago)

i love that Steve-O was a full-on Deadhead

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 22 July 2021 17:03 (four years ago)

or idk, “is” still probably

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 22 July 2021 17:04 (four years ago)

I am so excited for this movie. Hope Wee Man gets a decent amount of screen time. I rewatched two of these recently and honestly I think my favourite scene was him not getting that the chair was electric and that he was convinced they had a secret card throwing machine.

a hoy hoy, Thursday, 22 July 2021 17:10 (four years ago)

the Looney Tunes fake background painting thing <3

oh god wee man & the card throwing 😂😂😂
fuck that was funny

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 22 July 2021 17:18 (four years ago)

I can't even remember the last time I was actually "excited" and "anticipating" a piece of media

bruce spr!ngisH3r3 on broadway (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 22 July 2021 17:21 (four years ago)

i rewatched 1 the other day and laughed hardest when rip taylor randomly showed up, i had totally forgotten about that.

nobody like my rap (One Eye Open), Thursday, 22 July 2021 17:26 (four years ago)

i love how knoxville (i assume stuff like that is all knoxville) is so into & amused by old time classic hollywood/showbiz stuff like that

JK is clearly a buster keaton devotee, one of the reasons I love his bits so much is how cinematic his version of jackassian showmanship tends to be

I'm all in, but why so many archive clips in the trailer? I think I read that there would be archive Bam, to get around the bad blood, but seemed like a lot of old stuff I recognized in there, too.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 27 April 2026 16:34 (one month ago)

I think a lot of it is going to be Greatest Hits

EsBeeKid (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 27 April 2026 16:36 (one month ago)

the title might be a hint at that, whenever they get around to revealing it

uploading this content requires perseveration (sic), Monday, 27 April 2026 17:25 (one month ago)

tangentially related to this revive, also bcuz i don't know where to post about this on ILX -- did anyone see the movie The Piano Accident (2025) starring Adèle Exarchopoulos? not to give away too much but the lead character and conceit of the film is inspired by 'jackass' -- and i mean that literally, in flashbacks we see the lead as a young girl watching 'jackass' episodes w/ her father. it's more of a satire of mr. beast core but also touches on something real about 'jackass' culture that i haven't seen woven into the plot of a fictional film, great movie and Adéle is incredible, i think johnny knoxville would be proud

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Monday, 27 April 2026 17:32 (one month ago)

Odds n Sods movie gunna be, huh

Glower, Disruption & Pies (kingfish), Monday, 27 April 2026 20:18 (one month ago)

one thing that always blows my mind about this show is that only 25 episodes were ever made, if I had to guess I would've said like 70
