If I weren't concerned about the power bill and feeling vaguely guilty about global warming, I'd definitely have my A/C cranked down to 65.

I'd rather the air be freezing and sit around in a sweater and with a blanket than for the air to be hot. I keep mine at home around 72-74. Somehow that seems a lot cooler than 76.

I was kind of terrified to get my electric bill this month but I guess my AC is super energy efficient because even though I've kept it on lots of days for the pooch it was still < $60.

Fall in NY is the best. Maybe Christmas in NY is a little better because LIGHTS! but fall is the best in general and so is NY so it's pretty great.

Over 100 here every day. More of same expected for two more months. Last night I dreamt that it snowed overnight, and I was so so so happy.

As sunset got earlier, I had been lamenting the passing of summer, but then today I walked 4 blocks in 87º w/ humidity and I remembered summer = TEH.

The last three days in Chicago have been like summer's death throws. I had to walk outside for about a half mile yesterday and the heat made my face hurt, like if I were bent over peering into an open, hot oven. BUT 87 today, then 77 tomorrow, then 66!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm seriously not planning to leave the house until Friday. I mean 77 is great and all and I'll probably open some windows but I'm playing the long game here.
― carl agatha, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:06 (twelve years ago)
94 feels like 103, 48% humidity.. don't think i'm leaving the house today.

my university is issuing a "let's reduce our on campus electrical demand" edict starting from 3 pm today in order to take some pressure off the electrical company as it struggles to keep people's AC going in the face of this heatwave
― the tune was space, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:46 (twelve years ago)
This has been awful...but it seems like the horror will be over by tomorrow, probably until next year? At least in Chicago. Or maybe I am just being overly optimistic and it will be 97 degrees in October.

You Chicago summer haters got off relatively easy this year. As of 9/1, it has basically been an very average summer. The average temperature was 71.6° or .2° below average. Only 9 days were over 90 degrees, whereas 2012 had 40 days over 90 degrees.
I hope for my sake that the winter is mild.
― Jeff, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 20:21 (twelve years ago)
