xp to Morbs -- Austin and Lockhart -- those are places I'd like to go, but no amount of baseball would entice me into Houston.

schlock corridor (WilliamC), Thursday, 25 July 2013 15:43 (twelve years ago)

My only experience with wishing it were hotter is from the summer of 2008 when my friend lived in a building with a rooftop pool. All summer it was mild to almost chilly, and on most weekends it rained and was in the 60s.

potatoes-in-law (Je55e), Thursday, 25 July 2013 15:45 (twelve years ago)

A client just came in wearing a sweater (a thick, fluffy one, not a "summer" sweater) and before he even sat down, said, "You guys keep it cold in here!" Fuck you, it's 72º in here.

potatoes-in-law (Je55e), Thursday, 25 July 2013 15:47 (twelve years ago)

it is sooooooo nice today.
also, IN_ORBIT, good luck on your interview! I didn't even know about this!

i guess i'd just rather listen to canned heat? (ian), Thursday, 25 July 2013 15:49 (twelve years ago)

Week before last I spent four days in a Florida hotel room arguing with my parents that 76 was too hot to keep a room. I was dying and my mom had on a sweater and a bathrobe!

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Thursday, 25 July 2013 15:54 (twelve years ago)

It came up suddenly! I hope that is a sign that it's meant to be, the fact that it came out of nowhere via a personal recommendation, and then they contacted me within two days to interview in the same week.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Thursday, 25 July 2013 15:56 (twelve years ago)

we keep our a/c at home around 78-80 tbh.
when we went to my mom's house a few weeks ago, they kept theirs at 65!!!! wtf!!!

If I weren't concerned about the power bill and feeling vaguely guilty about global warming, I'd definitely have my A/C cranked down to 65.

i am wearing KNITWEAR

Me too.

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Thursday, 25 July 2013 17:09 (twelve years ago)

I'd rather the air be freezing and sit around in a sweater and with a blanket than for the air to be hot. I keep mine at home around 72-74. Somehow that seems a lot cooler than 76.

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Thursday, 25 July 2013 17:10 (twelve years ago)

I was kind of terrified to get my electric bill this month but I guess my AC is super energy efficient because even though I've kept it on lots of days for the pooch it was still < $60.

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Thursday, 25 July 2013 17:11 (twelve years ago)

Fall in NY is the best. Maybe Christmas in NY is a little better because LIGHTS! but fall is the best in general and so is NY so it's pretty great.

Over 100 here every day. More of same expected for two more months. Last night I dreamt that it snowed overnight, and I was so so so happy.

quincie, Monday, 5 August 2013 19:25 (twelve years ago)

And then I woke up and it was TOO EFFING HOT

quincie, Monday, 5 August 2013 19:26 (twelve years ago)

two weeks pass...

As sunset got earlier, I had been lamenting the passing of summer, but then today I walked 4 blocks in 87º w/ humidity and I remembered summer = TEH.

potatoes-in-law (Je55e), Wednesday, 21 August 2013 18:07 (twelve years ago)

the tune was space, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 17:57 (twelve years ago)

The last three days in Chicago have been like summer's death throws. I had to walk outside for about a half mile yesterday and the heat made my face hurt, like if I were bent over peering into an open, hot oven. BUT 87 today, then 77 tomorrow, then 66!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

carl agatha, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:02 (twelve years ago)

ian, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:04 (twelve years ago)

I'm seriously not planning to leave the house until Friday. I mean 77 is great and all and I'll probably open some windows but I'm playing the long game here.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:06 (twelve years ago)

94 feels like 103, 48% humidity.. don't think i'm leaving the house today.

ian, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:06 (twelve years ago)

high five not leaving the house club!!

ian, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:06 (twelve years ago)

caek, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:44 (twelve years ago)

my university is issuing a "let's reduce our on campus electrical demand" edict starting from 3 pm today in order to take some pressure off the electrical company as it struggles to keep people's AC going in the face of this heatwave

the tune was space, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:46 (twelve years ago)

This has been awful...but it seems like the horror will be over by tomorrow, probably until next year? At least in Chicago. Or maybe I am just being overly optimistic and it will be 97 degrees in October.
