I am about to drive 45 minutes to the La Paz Applebees why because air conditioning. Followed by Hangover 3 why because most tolerable movie selection in town, plus you can get drink and food service by pushing a button on your leather chair arm, plus air conditioning.

Are they going to have an intermission during Hangover 3?

I was actually chilly for a second outside. At 72º! I'm like one of those Gulf Coast assholes who would say today is crisp or chilly.

I just opened the window in my office and it is beyond wonderful.

We are going to Maine in September to a place with no AC and I'm sure the property owner was amused by my 3rd-degree interrogation about what temps to expect. If I find myself even a little bit warm against my will during our stay, I'm going to file a claim on our vacation insurance.

Are you going to be seaside? Because the furthest up my torso my testicles have ever been was when I dared to jump into the Atlantic Ocean on the Maine seaboard in the middle of August.

About 20 minutes inland, I'm afraid. I wanted to be on Peaks Island, a ferry ride from Portland, but my wife has been a big fucking baby a bit recalcitrant on that front.

this weather is too weird. I can't even really process it. I feel disturbed and uneasy.
the forecast for much of august (yeah I know there's no way to really forecast a month) is all mid 70s etc., and that makes me uneasy too.
I can wrap my brain around a heat wave, but I can't wrap my brain around a cool summer.

mid 70's and rain. nothing but gray and middling temperatures, and presumably humidity. no reason to live.

Oh, in that case I won't mind not going to the beach so much if I go back to work.

If this temp could hold for tomorrow too, I can wear a suit to my interview in peace and not in sweatiness. That would be nice.

I want to live where August is always mid-70s and rainy. We moved to Chicago in August in the middle of a week-long run of 60 degree highs. Having nothing to compare it with and so not knowing that was unusual, I was convinced we would freeze to death and die by October.

Well maybe it'll surprise all of us and be dangerously hot and children and the elderly will have to be evacuated to cooling centers, and stray cats will die in sun-baked empty lots. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT???

xp to Morbs -- Austin and Lockhart -- those are places I'd like to go, but no amount of baseball would entice me into Houston.

My only experience with wishing it were hotter is from the summer of 2008 when my friend lived in a building with a rooftop pool. All summer it was mild to almost chilly, and on most weekends it rained and was in the 60s.

A client just came in wearing a sweater (a thick, fluffy one, not a "summer" sweater) and before he even sat down, said, "You guys keep it cold in here!" Fuck you, it's 72º in here.

Week before last I spent four days in a Florida hotel room arguing with my parents that 76 was too hot to keep a room. I was dying and my mom had on a sweater and a bathrobe!

It came up suddenly! I hope that is a sign that it's meant to be, the fact that it came out of nowhere via a personal recommendation, and then they contacted me within two days to interview in the same week.

we keep our a/c at home around 78-80 tbh.
when we went to my mom's house a few weeks ago, they kept theirs at 65!!!! wtf!!!

If I weren't concerned about the power bill and feeling vaguely guilty about global warming, I'd definitely have my A/C cranked down to 65.
