Why would you be friends with people that think this?

bando calrissian (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 14 July 2013 02:56 (twelve years ago)

Because i grew up in the deep south. didn't you do that too?

you are absolutely right. this s/n was dumb in the first place, but it's probably just too much now.

first reason i'm not gonna post: too pissed to say anything coherent.
second reason i'm not gonna post: my lame s/n.

yes -- and now I luckily don't have to talk to, see, or otherwise communicate with anyone I knew when i did!

head defense dude just now: "Zimmerman didn't know why he was turned into [a monster], but it was you guys, the media, who did that to him."

Clay, Sunday, 14 July 2013 03:07 (twelve years ago)

it was so sad that day that the media murdered a child and blamed it on poor defenseless george zimmerman.

Clay, Sunday, 14 July 2013 03:08 (twelve years ago)

can i kickstart a riot? is that a thing?

stefon taylor swiftboat (s.clover), Sunday, 14 July 2013 03:09 (twelve years ago)

xxp ignoring the people i once knew doesn't make them go away and i'd rather know what they're really thinking then have it surprise me when i visit.

szarkasm (schlump), Sunday, 14 July 2013 03:14 (twelve years ago)

disgraceful decision

Treeship, Sunday, 14 July 2013 03:22 (twelve years ago)

it was looking like this verdict was kind of inevitable though? from a legal standpoint.

circa1916, Sunday, 14 July 2013 03:29 (twelve years ago)

from a this society is the worst just fuck it standpoint

stefon taylor swiftboat (s.clover), Sunday, 14 July 2013 03:35 (twelve years ago)

i don't know about the legal particulars of the case but whatever they are they are bullshit.

Treeship, Sunday, 14 July 2013 03:37 (twelve years ago)

you shouldn't be able to harass people and then shoot them because you have a vigilante fantasy. the law should be designed to prevent people from doing this.

Zimmerman's brother: "Trayvon Martin had the right to go home".

collardio gelatinous, Sunday, 14 July 2013 03:49 (twelve years ago)

there was never any legal complexity here, there aren't two sides to most issues. there's no excuse.

Zimmerman's brother going after Trayvon on CNN

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 14 July 2013 03:59 (twelve years ago)

I basically just outed my brother's lifelong bigotry on facebook to prove a point. He still doesn't get it.

times like these make me glad i don't have facebook

in case you're not feeling despair about the state of america you might want to try searching twitter for "fireworks" right now

I was pretty sure I heard fireworks immediately after the verdict and thought it couldn't possibly be true, and then a friend from florida and a friend from Minnesota said they heard the same thing in their neighborhoods.

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 14 July 2013 04:21 (twelve years ago)

what kind of an idiot family whose last name is zimmerman would name one of their sons robert? they didn't know that one was taken?

Treeship, Sunday, 14 July 2013 04:49 (twelve years ago)

You mean by Bob Dylan??? No, I would say they didn't know it was taken. Surely no more than 1% of the US population knows that "Robert Zimmerman" was Bob Dylan's birth name.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Sunday, 14 July 2013 05:01 (twelve years ago)

that can't be true. at least 96% of american households have a copy of hunky dory, in which bowie at addresses dylan as "robert zimmerman" on "song for dylan".

Treeship, Sunday, 14 July 2013 05:04 (twelve years ago)

no wonder Robert Zimmerman became such fast friends with Gordon Sumner and Archibald Leach at school

Gukbe, Sunday, 14 July 2013 05:07 (twelve years ago)

mmm, kinda was. not to pee on the outrage parade, i think it's gross that this dude gets off completely clean, but it's pretty hard to nail this dude down based on the rules of the game.

circa1916, Sunday, 14 July 2013 05:08 (twelve years ago)

i say dude way too much.

circa1916, Sunday, 14 July 2013 05:09 (twelve years ago)

GZ created a situation where a situation wasn't, and that situation resulted in the discharge of a sidearm that fatally injured an unarmed person. He was negligent from the get-go and a manslaughter conviction should've been a slam dunk.

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Sunday, 14 July 2013 05:10 (twelve years ago)

But didn't the prosecutor go for murder rather than manslaughter? That's a much higher hurdle, because you need to prove intent, right? Zimmerman should be in jail right now, for manslaughter.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 14 July 2013 05:12 (twelve years ago)

They were able to add a manslaughter charge before the jury was sent to deliberations.

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Sunday, 14 July 2013 05:13 (twelve years ago)

I didn't follow the trial, but was that a last minute addition, or did they explain the case for manslaughter from the start? I just don't see how he could not be guilty of manslaughter. I mean, I do see, but I don't ... see.

i'm glad IF trayvon got a few swings in before he was shot.

mods feel free to delete this post, if necessary.

hair like e.j. dionne (boy_slayer), Sunday, 14 July 2013 05:29 (twelve years ago)

Even though I'm not surprised, I'm really upset by this. both by the lack of justice for Trayvon, and the disgusting behaviors it's already prompted. and because I'm about 25 miles from it, I'm not likely to hear the end of it anytime soon.

I don't think I can say anything else about this atm.
