I've been around this guy a few times now. He's a kind of awkward lanky dude who has a temp job helping with computer hardware.

I feel like the articles saying that dudes are into this brony thing because it emphasizes socialization are on to something. This guy is kind of obnoxious in that if you relate a story, he'll try to relate a similar story. But sometimes conversations are just like a laundry list of stuff he's read, or insisting that something is better due to opinions he's read elsewhere.

He began a sentence one time with, "I'm sure we're all aware of the well-known Skyrim meme..."

I met his wife, and she was kind of awkward in the same way. Also, when they finished lunch, they were holding hands, on top of the table, with the rest of us kind of sitting there making conversation.

i feel the same thing about my stepbrother - a lot of these dudes are ultimately well-meaning but are just really awkward socially and cant help referencing things that nobody else knows about. its as if you spend so much time online in a certain community, full of X-Box shut-ins who listen to 47 different categories of metal that you can't socialize well with anyone outside of that (hello, ILX!). like, in the pre-internet days you'd at least be forced to interact with people you have nothing in common with.

he did once post something on FB like "DO. WANT." on some kind of plushie with a strategically placed hole in the backside; it's like he thinks nobody but his bronie friends can read his posts

i have a brother too, but i think he is the opposite of your stepbrother. the main thing he cares about is being cool.

i agree that most of these bronies are probably good people, and ultimately victims of the internet.

its sorta the online equivilent to the way poor people here blame their struggles on the illegals, simply because that's the one group of people that's even more powerless than they are. even the dudes on SomethingAwful who live their lives through ragecomics and Mountain Dew still pick on the furries.
