I am lookimg forward to trying Edinburgh and Glasgow next weekend, especially now I have dangling before me the prospect of a rare sighting of the Lynyrd. But I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of you too. I'm not looking forward to seeing RJG next weekend, though. I'm looking forward to seeing him, at some other time.

DMCUK is right about The Clientele, but then you wouldn't expect anything else. Would you?

Tim (Tim), Sunday, 4 September 2005 21:49 (twenty years ago)

thanks for the top tip RJGillanders man! I might just do that! I looked upon that very Winchester poster with my eyes in MONO earlier today. I chortled at the michael jackson - dot to dot - felt bit. Just slipped the "dot to dot" in there, you cheeky wee dotters! Good stuff. Sleeka Sounds Corporation.

I have no idea who "Annie" or "Rocketship" are - is that like..an ilxor thing? If so hello!

Or is it "Annie the musical" and that it means "starship" instead of "rocketship" like Jefferson Starship? I feel stupid. Have Rocketship not heard "we built this city"? Is it a tribute band? If not, hello!

And yay, Tim - I look forward to seeing you!

Chris......., Sunday, 4 September 2005 21:55 (twenty years ago)

annie - current norwegian pop singer

rocketship - '90s californian indie band

I never know what to put on the posters since no-one talks to me

I just put on two or three things I know that winchester people like and fill the rest in myself. I think my choices very rarely get played but I don't mind since I very rarely go!

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 4 September 2005 22:18 (twenty years ago)

Glasgow stunned me today, at times, with it's beauty and youth and adventure, on a perfect summer day. I almost wished I had had someone to share it with, but also I was glad to be alone and observing. Trusting in prudence.

Goodnight, Glasgow. I still love you.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 4 September 2005 22:37 (twenty years ago)

Dear Prudence.

Mooro (Mooro), Monday, 5 September 2005 03:00 (twenty years ago)

i tried glasgow for two years and apart from its roaming aggressive 10 year olds, it was very good to me.

hello to people i know, people i don't know, and people i might know but have tricky coded names!

Kate B (kate b), Monday, 5 September 2005 07:18 (twenty years ago)

dahlin (dahlin), Monday, 5 September 2005 10:47 (twenty years ago)

Hi Kate! Hi Chrys!

RJG, I think that is the best poster yet. I love the way the bling fits the text.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 5 September 2005 11:04 (twenty years ago)

Hi Lucy! Hi Kate! Thanks for the top tips RJG, I have registered and managed to open this page in record fast time!

I think the poster is nice too, well done!

Chrys Lynyrd (chrys), Monday, 5 September 2005 12:45 (twenty years ago)

i like the poster/flyer a lot. i'm particularly impressed by the attention to detail with "abba".

i also like the sound of the club, and if i'm back from perth in time next saturday, i shall try to attend.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 5 September 2005 13:06 (twenty years ago)

nice poster : )

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 5 September 2005 13:13 (twenty years ago)

I shall, maybe, be in attendance. I too like the poster, but I feel like I'd just be copying everyone else by saying so. So I won't.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 5 September 2005 15:57 (twenty years ago)

RJG (RJG), Monday, 5 September 2005 15:58 (twenty years ago)

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 5 September 2005 21:33 (twenty years ago)

not anotehr £25

we won £10, last time, but OK!!

that comic does look great but nothing like any of the close shaves I've experienced, in my time

RJG (RJG), Monday, 5 September 2005 21:47 (twenty years ago)

hello glasgow!

i have a whole day of work ahead of me, don't go to bed!

what good things have happened to glasgow in the last year?

Kate B (kate b), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 00:00 (twenty years ago)

We just won anotehr £25 at the pub quiz!

I'm sure there are other things

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 00:07 (twenty years ago)

that'll do, RJG :)

new in melbourne: my sister has stayed home from school today to finish a 5000 word story for her english class, which has to be written in the style of a mills & boon novel. the class is supposed to be demonstrating writing clichés that should normally be avoided and yet it's the longest essay (x 5) they've ever been assigned. i think the teacher has plagiarism in her sights, otherwise it doesn't make sense. my only memory of this teacher is that she was allergic to solvents and would run out of the classroom whenever anyone brandished a wite-out.

Kate B (kate b), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 00:32 (twenty years ago)

I think of plagiarism as kind of a cliché

I am going to spain, on thurs, with cathy, until mon, to help(?) her look for a flat (she is going there, to live, for ten months, as part of her course, and we were there, already, at the end of july or so, to see what it was like, and it was nice)

then I am going to apply for some jobs

I wrote a bit of a C.V., today

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 00:39 (twenty years ago)

very exciting news about spain!

i'm going to mount baw baw with my dad on the weekend. glasgow taught me to find humour in the name of the place.

Kate B (kate b), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 01:00 (twenty years ago)

poor old baw baw

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 01:08 (twenty years ago)

glasgow is beautiful this morning

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 06:39 (twenty years ago)

Lucky old baw baw.

OK, a furtehr £25.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 10:45 (twenty years ago)

I am going to Spain, on Saturday. But not Leon.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 10:52 (twenty years ago)

It is a good poster, yes. But you left off "Tim H".

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 10:53 (twenty years ago)

i kinda miss university.

jeffrey (johnson), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:00 (twenty years ago)

me too

where are you off to, PJ? barcelona?

thanks, about the poster. I will put tim H on the next ten

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:02 (twenty years ago)

Good. Then he will have to go to all of them.

I am going to San Sebastian. Well, near there. Renteria. My mother-in-law's. If we take a shine to it, we may stay.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:11 (twenty years ago)

there's a job going in the listings section of the metro, yo
(interested, stew? i thought of you)

dahlin (dahlin), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:22 (twenty years ago)

ah, we are flying into the ryanair bilbao-santander airport and staying in blibao, on thurs night, and, then, to leon, until monday, and home!

crosspost

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:23 (twenty years ago)

We are flying to Bilbao-Bilbao. I don't know about Bilbao-Santander.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:26 (twenty years ago)

it is probably in santander

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 11:37 (twenty years ago)

Bilbao is increíble. I recommend you try Antxokia more when you're there. Bilbao airport is in Bilbao. Santander is quite a bit away. Further than Prestwick even.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:32 (twenty years ago)

I'm reading things

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:42 (twenty years ago)

I heard something about you

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:43 (twenty years ago)

Bilbao airport is in Sondika.

Beat that for smarypantsness.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:53 (twenty years ago)

I heard something about me

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:59 (twenty years ago)

glasgow has been twinned with turin, rostov-on-don, dalian, havana and nuremberg

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 15:00 (twenty years ago)

I was told that Rostov-on-Don was the serial killer capital of the world a few years ago. It may since have been overtaken by somewhere else.

Bilbao airport is in Sondika.

Beat that for smarypantsness.

Ez.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 15:02 (twenty years ago)

there's a job going in the listings section of the metro, yo

I need a job since my redundancy is getting ever more imminent. Does one need experience for this sort of thing? Or even some sort of clue as to what is going on in Glasgow these days? I am a failed student journalist, so am obviously well equipped to write about shit that goes on in Glasgow pubs.

Today, I saw Dahlin's name in a byline in the Metro. I tried, and failed, to impress my kiddies at work by going "that's a friend of mine". Philistines. If I wasn't me, and I knew a top ace reporting journo type, I'd be impressed. Maybe.
