I'm about to ditch Stephen Fry because despite loving his work I find him distinctly boring
I find him quite fun; what I can't stand is the way he's now re-Tweeting so much stuff (eg the thing about the blank profile yesterday) because so many of his followers are obviously fucking bell-ends.
From a social-psychology angle I'm fascinated by the way the 'sleb Twitterers deal with having unfettered, two-way access to their fans. Graham Linehan is a joy.

btw I have just added a metric fuckload of random people who I think are ilxors and will prob. remove them just as soon as I work out what the hell is going on. If in the meantime you find it crepey/disturbing tell me and I will gladly remove you with all speed.
What you said.

Like any blogger who knows his site is pointless, my greatest hope is that people who follow me are as bored as I am.
― Bad Banana On Broadway (kenan), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 00:05 (seventeen years ago)
okay, Graham Linehan lasted all of eight hours. Waking up to find 110 new tweets, uh, no thanks.
― "chinese coke prank" (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 00:23 (seventeen years ago)
Ah, so that is who all these strange new people following me on twitter is! You're not strangers, you're ILX0rs.
― Questionable Rock-Frog (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 00:25 (seventeen years ago)
Many of them are. I'd bet some are just random people, though.
― Bad Banana On Broadway (kenan), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 00:30 (seventeen years ago)
I get spammers who don't say anything and disappear within 24 hours anyway. It's all rather creepy in that regard.
― "chinese coke prank" (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 00:35 (seventeen years ago)
I get a little appalled when a client asks me to set up a Twitter account for him. 1) You don't need me to do that. 2) I'm not going to update the fucker, and unless you are, I can't see the point. 3) Who told you this was a fantastic new way to sell things? Because I want to sock that person in the nose.
― Bad Banana On Broadway (kenan), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 00:40 (seventeen years ago)
Actually #3 is conditional -- you can sell things on Twitter, sure. If you make things. But look here client man -- you make auto parts. Trust me when I say that Twitter is not your market.
― Bad Banana On Broadway (kenan), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 00:42 (seventeen years ago)
That's for RSS anyway. Jesus.
Technology is routinely fucked over by people who don't get what it's for and go misappropriating it. e.g. Facebook was for SOCIAL networking until old people en masse started hunting down their kids.

― "chinese coke prank" (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 02:23 (seventeen years ago)
I loathe lastfm's user/artist architecture so much I didn't even want to open that thread. Glad I didn't.

Er, nothing against any particular ilxors, mind, but in my week-or-so of pissfarting around with this thing I've not been particularly compelled by anything yet.
― "chinese coke prank" (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 10:45 (seventeen years ago)
Well, it's pretty reductively only as interesting as the people you follow (or, rather, as interesting as you find the people you follow to be). I guess it depends what you deem an acceptable signal-to-noise ratio: me, I enjoy skimming over the quotidian musings of other people (cf Facebook) and find some of it very entertaining, even if only for a moment or two.
But if you're expecting a non-stop open channel of wit and wisdom, Twitter is probably never going to be the place to go.

my favorite tweeter is "Brian Eno," who sends me an oblique strategy every morning.
― Bad Banana On Broadway (kenan), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 11:26 (seventeen years ago)
He just old me to breathe more deeply.
I am not going to start following any more Big Name Producers. I am not. Oh, fuck it...
― I want your Fingers and I want your Ears (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 11:36 (seventeen years ago)
Grimly - have you given up on your desire to have them all sent to your phone as texts like the old days?
― Alba, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 11:37 (seventeen years ago)
There are a few "brian eno"s on twitter. No idea if any of them are brian eno.
― Bad Banana On Broadway (kenan), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 11:37 (seventeen years ago)
I'd like an oblique strategem every morning. That I would like.
Twitter is only good if you follow people you know well enough to actually care about the tiny minutia of their lives. I'd find it intrusive to follow a stranger. (latest big crush excepted, of course.)
