i don't remember much about it aside from it being delicious and basically like scrambled eggs + lots of herbaceous mint that i can nibble w/pita or at home at my leisure. no recollection what the dish i had was called. they also have excellent soup. there is a persian dish called (transliterated clearly) kookoo sabzi that is basically like an herb/greens frittata -- it was like that in composition, but not shape. either way, it was delicious!!

I really need to make some version of that. Will investigate and report back.

I'm reading Vonnegut's "Slapstick". Probably finishing it today because I have a backlog of books i need to read ("Divine Comedy", "Neuromancer", Gandhi's autobio, Time Life's "Trees"). Thrift store bookshelves have been very good to me lately.

Oh yeah I'm really into Sega Genesis games cos I never had one as a kid and have been emulating Castlevania, Gunstar Heroes, and the Shinobi series a LOT recently.

adam B, when i had a sega genesis i was super into the aladdin game. highly recommended platform game. i don't think i ever beat the magic carpet/lava level tho.

Oh yeah the animation on that is brilliant. Done by the Disney animators! Haven't played that in decades.

The tricky part is finding like only-for-Genesis games bcz most of the ones that were also released on SNES were much better on SNES (are there any exceptions to this? Besides maybe some extra blood in Mortal Kombat or something?).

The Genesis Castlevania is the best of the series imo. Fastest play, smoothest controls, and great graphic gimmicks that put Mode 7 to shame. Plus you travel around Europe! The music is way better than the SNES one as well, which is no small shakes.

Apparently the Contra is great too but i haven't tried it.

the sound chip for the genesis is the same as the yamaha dx-7 iirc, so it sounds better than most snes music — but the snes games had better composers working on them.
