it makes no sense dramatically. she needs to be dead and gone and the red wedding already a legend among the smallfolk for the reveal to have any punch.

resulting post (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:07 (thirteen years ago)

i think after seeing her throat cut square on camera, having her come back to life the next episode would be fairly dramatic. and remember, it's not like on the page where you can feature her without revealing who she is.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:10 (thirteen years ago)

410 Mhysa - Joffrey challenges Tywin. Bran tells a ghost story. In Dragonstone, mercy comes from strange quarters. Dany waits to see if she is a conqueror or a liberator.

not giving us much

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:13 (thirteen years ago)

altho, someone upthread reminded that mhysa means mother so, maybe?

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:15 (thirteen years ago)

i can't actually think of anything that happens on dragonstone in the books after the leech ritual but before jon gets back to the night's watch and they send out ravens for help

ciderpress, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:20 (thirteen years ago)

i've said my piece. happy to lay wagers. my money's on arya leaving the hound to die and our coldhands as our supernatural surprise.

resulting post (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:25 (thirteen years ago)

oh and based on the summary you posted, maybe Davos becomes Stannis' Hand

resulting post (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:27 (thirteen years ago)

not sure if coldhands is happening in the show, since the scene where he showed up in the book already happened and the bran scene in the ep10 synopsis should be the one where he meets sam

ciderpress, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:44 (thirteen years ago)

they're probably just moving up his appearance to next season

lego maniac cop (latebloomer), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:46 (thirteen years ago)

with stoneheart too it's like a week after she's dead that beric resurrects her. if they do it next year the viewer will see it as having been a lonnnnng time since she died and who's that guy with the eyepatch again? In the books we don't see the resurrection, we come across her long afterwards, but a tv audience won't accept that. ("Wait catelyn came back to life? Or she's a zombie now? i missed that episode!") So for it to work as serialized television it pretty much needs to be in the closing episode of this season, literally a week after the red wedding.

Clay, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:47 (thirteen years ago)

probably still training the elk

Number None, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:47 (thirteen years ago)

rip tyewing

joe bogus (am0n), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:49 (thirteen years ago)

i could believe them dumping the coldhands character wholesale but that would be a shame. tho, assuming coldhands is benjen, that's going to be a great reveal for the tv crowd. "omg, it's benjen! who the fuck is that??"

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:49 (thirteen years ago)

I thought Davos was already Stannis' Hand on the show? Sometime last season, right before the Battle of the Blackwater?

I agree that unveiling UnCat this soon is dramatically less potent, but the logistics (keeping Michelle Fairley under wraps being the biggest issue) all seem to point toward her coming in in the next episode.

Coldhands they could do like they did the Reeds by excluding his stuff with Sam and only include him escorting Bran + The Reeds to Third Eye Blind Raven.

Ou sont les Sonneywolferines d'antan? (Leee), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:51 (thirteen years ago)

It's probably not Benjen though! Unless he's decomposed beyond recognition, Bran should've been able to recognize him.

Ou sont les Sonneywolferines d'antan? (Leee), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:52 (thirteen years ago)

Sam said some stuff in the last episode implying he knew where the door was, making me think they're cutting coldhands. maybe let jojen guide them with his ~powers~ or something, b/c honestly they need to give the reed kids something to do, they've been useless thus far on the show.

Clay, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:52 (thirteen years ago)

am kinda looking forward to seeing that scene TV-ized, with everything getting scary and dramatic and bran freaking out and then sam's fat face pops out of the well

ciderpress, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:55 (thirteen years ago)

I dunno if he's happening either but I'm holding out hope and Team Bran crossing the wall would be the time for it to happen.

you do realize you're talking about a 6-year cliffhanger right?

I agree that unveiling UnCat this soon is dramatically less potent, but the logistics (keeping Michelle Fairley under wraps being the biggest issue) all seem to point toward her coming in in the next episode.

given that the actual screen time she'll eat up will amount to a couple of flashbacks i think a pro operation can manage this but hey, that's why they play the games. my money's on this team to hang on to its shock-and-awe opportunities. i'll wager 108 sun salutes.

resulting post (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 20:01 (thirteen years ago)

The six-year cliffhanger was the experience book-readers had when reading the books and in no way reflects how the vast majority of people consuming the television show will be experiencing that material.

Clay, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 20:07 (thirteen years ago)

they could maybe do the scene where arya wargs into nymeria and drags cat up on the shore w.out actually resurrecting her

max, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 20:12 (thirteen years ago)

^^ ENDORSE

resulting post (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 20:17 (thirteen years ago)

i hope nymeria's still under contract

resulting post (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 20:19 (thirteen years ago)

that have cast a totally different wolf to play her, they barely look alike

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 20:27 (thirteen years ago)

max, Friday, 28 June 2013 20:19 (twelve years ago)

Dorne -- like Baja, but side to side! (Kill me.)

Ned Raggett, Friday, 28 June 2013 20:24 (twelve years ago)

that dude seems hella young for oberyn as i imagined him!

Clay, Friday, 28 June 2013 20:34 (twelve years ago)

btw where do i claim my 5 on the "no stoneheart in finale" wager?

resulting post (rogermexico.), Friday, 28 June 2013 20:45 (twelve years ago)

yes i was fully wrong about that, my apologies, cash is in the mail

Clay, Friday, 28 June 2013 20:46 (twelve years ago)

yeah ro-mex, you called it. but i maintain the writers fucked up there.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 28 June 2013 20:48 (twelve years ago)

^^^^

Clay, Friday, 28 June 2013 20:49 (twelve years ago)

i assumed dorne was equivalent to spain/iberia. that seemed obviously what grrm was going for.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 28 June 2013 20:49 (twelve years ago)

i believe its a wales-spain-palestine hybrid

max, Friday, 28 June 2013 20:55 (twelve years ago)

Huh. Well I can't make those other two scan at all. Wales just because of the marches? And why Palestine?

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 28 June 2013 21:18 (twelve years ago)

I could believe Cornwall before he decided to make Westeros more continental

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 28 June 2013 21:20 (twelve years ago)

definite moorish spain/morocco thing, though politically dornwall feels about right

resulting post (rogermexico.), Friday, 28 June 2013 21:36 (twelve years ago)

guys it's going to be a great WTF moment when she shows up at the end of a late ep in S4

resulting post (rogermexico.), Friday, 28 June 2013 21:36 (twelve years ago)

awful casting.

gyac, Friday, 28 June 2013 22:06 (twelve years ago)

DAMMIT I WANT MY SEXY BROWN PEOPLE.

Also Oberyn is supposed to be in his 40s in the books.

Jack Lacan (Leee), Saturday, 29 June 2013 01:29 (twelve years ago)

I'm glad to be wrong at the show holding off with UnCat, btw.

Jack Lacan (Leee), Saturday, 29 June 2013 01:30 (twelve years ago)

in the books it happens a good 400-500 pages after where we currently are so its not that surprising

ciderpress, Saturday, 29 June 2013 03:07 (twelve years ago)

where were you when i needed you man?

trailer for Season 4

sarahell, Monday, 13 January 2014 02:47 (twelve years ago)

looks like they're going to do a similar thing with Catelyn as they did with Theon in season 3, even though she doesn't actually appear again until book 4/5

sarahell, Monday, 13 January 2014 02:51 (twelve years ago)

everything i've read pretty much spells out that they'll be solidly into affc/adwd by the end of this season, at least for some of the stories.

Clay, Monday, 13 January 2014 02:52 (twelve years ago)

yeah, not sure how much they could do with Arya without moving into later books

sarahell, Monday, 13 January 2014 03:03 (twelve years ago)

she's got more travels with the hound but yeah, not a ton of material for her. dany's book 3 story is over pretty quick from where they are, too.

there's pretty much no chance they don't end up finishing this thing years and years before martin wraps things up huh
