Eh the article didn't seem that bad
― badg, Thursday, 30 May 2013 00:30 (thirteen years ago)
I'm pretty sure the parent is a douchebag with a chip on their shoulder ranting about a non-problem, but okay.

Both my kids were ones you had to hold back from climbing the ladder, you could convince yourself they were gonna fall off.
They never did.
― Mark G, Thursday, 30 May 2013 08:52 (thirteen years ago)
that's one of the most sinister sounding parental diatribes i have ever read!
― free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Thursday, 30 May 2013 12:48 (thirteen years ago)
That statement could apply to 90% of blogs! I just thought the idea of letting your kids take a fall in the playground where it's relatively safe didn't seem so bad.
The so-called tiger mother diatribe seems heaps worse
― badg, Thursday, 30 May 2013 15:05 (thirteen years ago)
i'm all for kids taking risks in play - important part of development - but that's not really what that piece is about
― another sub-standard post from (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 30 May 2013 15:09 (thirteen years ago)
It could have been framed a whole lot differently. As it was, it dishes out a little dose of hostility toward other parents/adults and insists on creating enemies out them for her to do battle against. Why not just write about how kids need to be allowed to take risks for their healthy development?
― Aimless, Thursday, 30 May 2013 17:37 (thirteen years ago)
"get the fuck away from my kids" is really all that needed to be said

― Mark G, Friday, 31 May 2013 09:19 (thirteen years ago)
Mark, can you cite tour source? I'm not trying top enter into an argument. Its just that I've seen that repeated a few times in ilx and I'm useless at finding the original data.
― how's life, Friday, 31 May 2013 11:04 (thirteen years ago)

I think I understood the sentence, I was wondering how you mean "source"..
― Mark G, Friday, 31 May 2013 11:10 (thirteen years ago)
I mean is there a study, statistic, resource?
― how's life, Friday, 31 May 2013 11:11 (thirteen years ago)
I feel like it's important info, and I would like to be able to cite it to others.
― how's life, Friday, 31 May 2013 11:12 (thirteen years ago)
oic.
No, purely my 'impression'..
If some paedo molests a child, and the only witness is the child, why would they let the child live if there is the threat of a death penalty?
― Mark G, Friday, 31 May 2013 11:14 (thirteen years ago)
Also, it's one thing for a child growing up scared of the perpetrator, it does not follow that the child would grow up without fear or guilt if "It's OK, that man has been killed because.."
Anyway, moving on...
― Mark G, Friday, 31 May 2013 11:16 (thirteen years ago)
