I deleted basically my whole queue that was filled with like 50 examples of 50s Americana and 70s French films, and instead added only TV shows, most of which requested by my mom: Larry David, Homicide, The Office. Now that I rent my serious movies from the library, I need to keep the Netflix light. Also, now that I work regularly, I don't have the time or inclination to watch a movie a day.

oh yeah, library dvd loans are great. In Nova Scotia I've discovered that I can even order them online from other provincial libraries and get them shipped to my local one.

I ordered "Holes" from Netflix b/c the teacher across the hall from me had the poster on her door and when the DVD got to me it was cracked and I told Netflix and then right away they sent another copy to me.

Starsky and Hutch was okay, which is remarkable since I want Stiller to disappear forever. Also, I was playing GBA Zelda for part of it. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I put all the Homicide DVDs IN ORDER in my queue. The next one should be Season 3 Disc 6. They sent me Homicide: The Movie. WTF!!!

I love this! Since I discovered the online search and hold function at my local public library I have not been back to a video store and I am watching more movies than i have in quite some time. It's great! I guess this all depends on the quality of your local library's catalog but I've lucked out in that regard. I've rented everything from Aguirre, Wrath of God to Criterion films (with the booklets), to entire Sopranos seasons, to "popcorn" movies. Some times I have to wait quite some time for certian releases (there are 300 people in front of me in the queue for the 3rd season of Six Feet Under, for instance) but with a hold allowance of 15 items, I have never not had a movie to watch. It's been kind of a revelation for me...

Just a note that Time Out have a month free Screen Select trial, and you also get sent a free DVD too. If interested go to www.timeout.com/freedvd.

I shall be testing it against LoveFilm for a month (or probably just suspending my Lovefilm for a month as seven DVD's on the trot would start getting a bit mad), thoug LF have been very slow at turning around films of late.
