that's like saying "parmesan cheese is inexplicable to me - isn't it kinda redundant?"

siouxsan sarandon (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 24 May 2013 05:54 (thirteen years ago)

I don't always want pineapple on a pizza, but sometimes I do and I don't feel like a savage.

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Friday, 24 May 2013 05:57 (thirteen years ago)

people put regular non-sun-dried tomatoes on pizza and it's not weird, sun-dried is always a good idea tho

ty based gay dead computer god (zachlyon), Friday, 24 May 2013 06:08 (thirteen years ago)

sun-dried is better for pizza than regular tomatoes b/c of lack of water content. no one wants a waterlogged pizza. otoh, a little thinly sliced heirloom tomato can be lovely on a pizza.

leno dunham (get bent), Friday, 24 May 2013 06:19 (thirteen years ago)

I just think that tomato & tomato sauce flavours are too alike - they cancel each other out. Parm & mozz aren't and don't. (And I don't use parmesan on pizza anyways). But y'know, ymmv.

Sir Lord Baltimora (Myonga Vön Bontee), Friday, 24 May 2013 07:17 (thirteen years ago)

"they cancel each other out"

wait, so when you eat a pizza with tomato sauce and sun-dried tomatoes, you can't taste either of them?

ty based gay dead computer god (zachlyon), Friday, 24 May 2013 07:29 (thirteen years ago)

Pineapple on pizza is brilliant. The other week I had a RHUBARB CRUMBLE pizza. It wasn't that great actually

kinder, Friday, 24 May 2013 07:34 (thirteen years ago)

uh xxp

absolutely in no way whatsoever

recall some great pizza fights of yesteryear where the thought of rocket lettuce or shellfish on pizza was riot-clowned. well here's yr latest update: they're still great toppings. pineapple is one of the few things I find genuinely disgusting to sink my teeth into alongside the crisp crunch and cheesy give of a pizza. but then america is a nation of deep-pan grossness, not pizza

Pineapple, but only if it's also got ham with it.

I'm wholly against fruit in non-dessert contexts -- i.e. in salads, with cheese, all GROSS. Tomatoes excepted, of course.

Tomatoes on pizza make the slice super heavy and kinda awkward

how's life, Friday, 24 May 2013 10:33 (thirteen years ago)

pineapple fulfils every need iirc

Pasty, British & Shit (wins), Friday, 24 May 2013 10:57 (thirteen years ago)

tokyo rosemary, Friday, 24 May 2013 11:11 (thirteen years ago)

I love pineapple, but I hate any sort of hot or cooked fruit, so no pineapple on pizza for me.

tokyo rosemary, Friday, 24 May 2013 11:12 (thirteen years ago)

pineapple on pizza is nasty.

and anchovies are the best topping, obviously.

the league against cool sports (Noodle Vague), Friday, 24 May 2013 13:44 (thirteen years ago)

yeah but this isn't a sweet/salty issue, it's a textural issue

siouxsan sarandon (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 24 May 2013 14:02 (thirteen years ago)

No no no no, best pizza topping is another pizza.

go cray cray on my lobster soufflé (snoball), Friday, 24 May 2013 14:07 (thirteen years ago)

mostly pizza toppings don't matter, the base is the important bit

OH NO, SECONDS LEFT, SECONDS LEFT, AND THERE IT IS. REGRET. (imago), Friday, 24 May 2013 14:09 (thirteen years ago)

Best pizza topping is mozzarella sticks.

Baked beans on top of plain cheese pizza

If you own a pizzeria and you put a salad bar in that pizzeria, people will steal everything in that salad bar and dip their pizza in it when god isn't looking

my go-to pizzas:

pepperoni, mushroom, black olive

one day I will recreate the amazing taco pizza they had at the pizza place where I worked in high school that remains to this day the only taco pizza variant I've liked

feel like one of those LHC naysayers, except the resulting event horizon will be only too real. don't risk it, dan

the only pizza pp and I eat is canadian bacon and pineapple, unless the kids have insisted on pepperoni

US pizza vs Australian pizza offerings are two completely different things. Australia is all specialty pizzas and US just goes by number of toppings and is obsessed with how many different cheeses are on there and how many different places they can find to stuff that cheese into. Its so weird.

I can see how people would not enjoy pineapple on a pizza. The sweet with the savory just doesn't work sometimes. For me Maple syrup on bacon and eggs is something I will never understand.

why not just top it off with gummi bears you visigoths

Or get a salt shaker and a sugar dispenser and pour them both into your mouth at the same time.
