Nah he had to put his details in or something. Wrote his name Tony Adams MBE as well.

Still don't think we can rule out it was Jimmy Nail

I am broadly resigned to the fact that Arsenal aren't going to fuck this game up. Nothing about this feels as bad as the end of last season.

Matt DC, Sunday, 19 May 2013 14:58 (thirteen years ago)

Really Matt? Not particularly aware of the way the league has looked throughout the season, but it'll really feel like you've chucked it to me if both Arsenal and Chelsea manage to beat you to the CL places this year.

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:00 (thirteen years ago)

might as well watch us get humped 8-0

lfc's new shirts look nice

r|t|c, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:04 (thirteen years ago)

Hahaha, Darren Bent. Someone buy him off us plz

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:06 (thirteen years ago)

We were never as far ahead as we were last season, and there hasn't been the same kind of long slow agonising stupid collapse. And it won't come down to a CL penalty shootout.

Matt DC, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:06 (thirteen years ago)

it was more the vagaries of the schedule that had us 7 clear of arsenal after beating them, i think most of us had it figured as a tight one looking at the games we had to play even then

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:07 (thirteen years ago)

Chelsea score, sorry playoff fans.

Matt DC, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:09 (thirteen years ago)

Could still happen if Arsenal - Newcastle ends a particular way though right? It was a stupidly long shot anyway, though it'd make a fun story

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:10 (thirteen years ago)

Also this season feels like a measured success for AVB, last season was a catastrophic failure for Redknapp.

Matt DC, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:11 (thirteen years ago)

There can still be a play-off

Chelsea draw 1-1; Arsenal win 3-2

Chelsea draw 2-2; Arsenal win 4-3

Chelsea draw 3-3; Arsenal win 5-4

The Parvenu Fucktard (onimo), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:11 (thirteen years ago)

Bent's goal lifted Villa 5 or 6 places in the league. The bottom half is ridiculously tight. Newcastle can finish top half after facing relegation a week ago.

The Parvenu Fucktard (onimo), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:13 (thirteen years ago)

Regarding that £1m bonus, I'd forgotten that Ashley is a Spurs fan.

Matt DC, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:13 (thirteen years ago)

xpost - I'm not 100% sure what the values are but I believe that finishing 11th rather than 16th has gotta be worth a few bob, right? A team in Villa's situation can't afford to throw away £5 million when it's on a plate. Fixture list today looks like it might do us some favours in that regard

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:15 (thirteen years ago)

iirc it's about 800k per place

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:15 (thirteen years ago)

Does Rafa keep his job for an extra week if there's a third place play-off?

The Parvenu Fucktard (onimo), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:16 (thirteen years ago)

lol Rafa to Everton would be my preference right now tbh

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:19 (thirteen years ago)

Ah shit, Wigan goal

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:21 (thirteen years ago)

ref you are a cheat a liar a cunt and a disgrace

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:21 (thirteen years ago)

That's a fucking penalty you spineless cunt.

Matt DC, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:21 (thirteen years ago)

eurgh, this Fulham team are actually leading a game, you kidding me?

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:24 (thirteen years ago)

jesus christ if bales gets a second yellow today im travelling to batter this cunts dog

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:26 (thirteen years ago)

Is Defoe still not fit? I haven't been keeping track recently, but it seems bizarre if not outright wrong that Ade is starting such an important game otherwise

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:30 (thirteen years ago)

adebayor has been good to great in the last 3 or 4 games and looks good today

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:30 (thirteen years ago)

anyone that'll argue against video ref being available for a call like that penalty can have a battering and all tbr

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:31 (thirteen years ago)

christ that's slack defending

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:31 (thirteen years ago)

Fair nuff, I saw his long-range cracker the other day but I've adjusted to thinking of him as being a sight worse than useless, and I'm watching Arsenal atm so have nae idea how the guy's playing right now xpost

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:32 (thirteen years ago)

it's a fair sentiment given his form all season alright

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:33 (thirteen years ago)

not unlike him to turn it on to ensure he stays in light of the approaching transfer window tbh, you couldn't rely on him for next season or anything

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:33 (thirteen years ago)

Tbph sometime in March I basically stopped caring what anyone else was doing except for those in Villa's immediate vicinity and I'm now trying to get a handle at the last minute on things happening elsewhere. Parker's gone from England captain to a problem player pretty fast, it seems? Though this is probs to do with the differences between AVB's approach and Harry's, I suppose

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:37 (thirteen years ago)

wickham looks like troubling dawson all afternoon

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:38 (thirteen years ago)

xp i'd reckon the absence of modric as a creative outlet is a lot to do with it, dembele sits much deeper and rampages forward but isn't anything like the constant presence modric was for parker to offload it simply to

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:39 (thirteen years ago)

is that offside?

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:41 (thirteen years ago)

ref wants nothing to do with this game, ignoring clear fouls from both teams throughout

doesn't explain why he's booked bale for diving in as clear a penalty as you'd wish for, but hardly the first time a cunt ref's done that all year either

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:43 (thirteen years ago)

You'll be reet if you can buy a decent striker and keep your players fit next season. Dembele/Sandro axis is a midfield to be feared.

And I dislike the old buzzard quite thoroughly, but it's only appropriate that United should be handing their opponents a tubthumpin' in Ferg's last game.

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:43 (thirteen years ago)

left back, left winger, striker who is a presence in the box

same as it ever was tbh

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:46 (thirteen years ago)

Disastrous defending from Villa at a corner, 2-1 Wigan ffs

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:48 (thirteen years ago)

jesus the left side of the pitch falls of a fuckin cliff

um, airhead (darraghmac), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:48 (thirteen years ago)

Is Bale on the left and Holtby in the middle / vice versa not considered a viable option? Clint Dempsey can do one

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:50 (thirteen years ago)

GET INVOLVED
Ryan Cowie: No real head scratching in terms of why QPR are going down - boys to men stuff at Anfield against Liverpool.

r|t|c, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:54 (thirteen years ago)

crap performance, pointless game - and all the philly steaks you can eat

r|t|c, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:56 (thirteen years ago)

4 seasons of loneliness ahead.

хуто-хуторянка (ShariVari), Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:57 (thirteen years ago)

Ideally you want Bale on the left and Dempsey behind the main striker, although the long-term solution to the Adebayor problem might be to play him in a deeper role as well. Holtby deeper, possibly, but that requires a three-man midfield with both Dembele and Sandro in it.

We need cover or competition on both wings and upfront more than anything else in the summer. Hopefully Andros will be ready next year, and I think Danny Rose probably is as well, definitely a better LB option than Naughton.

Matt DC, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:57 (thirteen years ago)

xp v nice

r|t|c, Sunday, 19 May 2013 15:59 (thirteen years ago)
