There's a Fuzzy's Tacos near where I work, and I want to eat there but my lunch buddy says the name disgusts her too much. My only counterargument was tacos, but it wasn't enough.

The possessive form of Fuzzy really takes the edge off what could be pretty disgusting.

pplains, Thursday, 16 May 2013 13:39 (thirteen years ago)

their tortilla chips are seasoned with "fuzzy dust" apparently. I will go and investigate.

next door to one of the best mexican cantina's in little rock:

Flip-Over Gymnastics

surely they mean for the kids to just flip over how fun and rewarding gymnastics can be, but instead lolz

andrew m., Wednesday, 5 June 2013 18:59 (thirteen years ago)

Would make for a good record shop name.

pplains, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:02 (thirteen years ago)

not the gymnastics part.

There's also a boutique here in Austin called Wear Art Thou that irritates me more than it should. It's close to the Bark'N'Purr though, which always makes me happy.

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 19:48 (thirteen years ago)

I can still hear my former step-mother arguing with my dad in the front seat after he announced that his new storm window company was going to be named "Home Boy Windows" because, you know, they're for the home!

pplains, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 20:46 (thirteen years ago)

"Honey, I took your advice and went with a classier name. I present to you, Homely Windows!"

i don't even have an internet (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 21:10 (thirteen years ago)

''Wear Art Thou'' is so close to being reasonably clever (I'm assuming the idea is that the clothes are ''art'') but really fumbles on the third word.

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 6 June 2013 01:19 (thirteen years ago)

"Wear art though" would be the nice aside at the end of some snide conversation.

Wear Art Chow: high concept body art place where everything is edible

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 6 June 2013 01:22 (thirteen years ago)

the 'thou' makes sense just fine, just read it as imperative mood

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 6 June 2013 01:47 (thirteen years ago)

although it would be better punning if the phrase "where art thou" was actually something, other than half the title of a movie

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 6 June 2013 01:49 (thirteen years ago)

There's a new-ish Thai restaurant opened in Glasgow called Thai-riffic.

ailsa, Thursday, 6 June 2013 02:16 (thirteen years ago)

The words Thai and Pho are total wild cards... anything goes.

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Thursday, 6 June 2013 02:35 (thirteen years ago)

i worked (for three days) at a tea place called Infini-T. It would make more sense as Infini-Tea.

I remember earlier this year hearing on the radio "the Met Office have issued a yellow snow warning" and sniggering to myself

sjuttiosju_u (wins), Sunday, 9 June 2013 21:36 (thirteen years ago)

I expect the Zappa fans to come out of the woodwork for this one.

pplains, Sunday, 9 June 2013 21:40 (thirteen years ago)

i like ones that have a sign with their slogan written just as big as the name of the store so it appears to be one long title:
Zak's ATV Zone We Sell ATVs
DOORS N MORE What's The More? Windows!

ehkarl, Sunday, 9 June 2013 23:45 (thirteen years ago)

I remember earlier this year hearing on the radio "the Met Office have issued a yellow snow warning" and sniggering to myself

This never stops making me giggle either.

Does everyone else in the UK have Virgin TV/broadband installer vans with "hilarious" Van puns on their vans? There's a van belonging to a neighbour with "Van Diesel" on it parked round the corner - have also seen Julie Vandrews and Marlon Vando kicking around the area.

ailsa, Monday, 10 June 2013 01:03 (thirteen years ago)

this place been drawing attention to itself for price discrimination. just now noticed its horribly formed name.

Not exactly local, but on WNYC they keep mentioning this underwriter called "Mail Chimp" and it always comes across to me as "Male Chimp." Terrible name either way.

i don't even have an internet (Hurting 2), Thursday, 27 June 2013 16:13 (twelve years ago)

I thought of this thread today bcz I came up with the name "Backto Realty" which is not a real realtor but if it was it wd belong in this thread.

shohreh aja/danteloo (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 27 June 2013 21:23 (twelve years ago)

MailChimp is a bulk email service, isn't it? Not an underwriter.

Check out this shipping/packaging store: http://www.goinpostalwdm.com/

mh, Thursday, 27 June 2013 21:25 (twelve years ago)

oh wait

never mind, I misread your use of underwriter, carry on

mh, Thursday, 27 June 2013 21:26 (twelve years ago)

right

i don't even have an internet (Hurting 2), Thursday, 27 June 2013 21:26 (twelve years ago)

it also sounds to me like it would just kind of scamper up a tree with your mail and comically feign reading it before tossing it away

i don't even have an internet (Hurting 2), Thursday, 27 June 2013 21:27 (twelve years ago)

but guys, really. "Goin' Postal"

mh, Thursday, 27 June 2013 21:27 (twelve years ago)

Not as funny when the person knowingly makes a "horribly formed name."

Teaffee, Brooklyn. Because they serve tea... and coffee... and tea and coffee together.

Josefa, Saturday, 6 July 2013 22:40 (twelve years ago)

You are mistaken, this business is clearly named "eaffee."

Doctor Casino, Saturday, 6 July 2013 22:58 (twelve years ago)

there's a septic company in O-town called "Brownies". ugh.

My brother-in-law used to live in Eugene and we always had to drive by this place to get to his apartment:

I guess there was already a Hairba Dabba Doo in the neighborhood

It was formerly called Lolita's Child Development Center. But I'm not sure Lolita's World of Wonder is better.

emilys., Monday, 8 July 2013 08:44 (twelve years ago)

Once saw a Chinese restauarant called Bon Appetit

paolo, Monday, 8 July 2013 11:58 (twelve years ago)

Lolita's World of Wonder somehow reminds me of the friend who decided to change her life/career/etc. after passing a shuttered tourist trap with faded sign reading "World of Dreams Museum," and having a vision of her own dreams bottled, labeled, and sitting dusty on the shelf of a defunct roadside attraction.
