i thought everything was good except for theon's scene. nice to see jon get an injection of spine for a moment there, and clarke is starting to fall way behind sansa actress in the terribleness stakes as dany's character develops. i will say i am surprised by the extent to which they are stretching some things out - there was definitely more scope for things to actually happen this season and that has been sacrificed in the name of timing as much as anything, to have things happen at certain points in the season and to leave things in a certain place at the end of it.

the fact that grrm thinks that kings landing would be bigger than a mediaeval london or paris is the problem really, there is no reasonable basis for that imo except, yknow, this is fantasy so fuck it i guess

all the cities seem super small on the show

like i wouldve thought kings landing was like 10k

Wouldn't it be effective for Dany to where a fire crown or something? Wouldn't hurt her, would be gnarly.

Literal fire on a crown I mean.

Just a little "Why wouldn't they have thought of this?" kind of idea.

it was a bit of a slow ep

xp probably mechanically challenging. she could dip a crown in oil and light it, but it wouldn't burn for very long. or i suppose she could build a little fire inside the crown and have someone drop twigs in there throughout the day the keep it going.

also i think her survivng the bonfire is supposed to be like a one-time miracle and not necessarily a sustained superpower

the dragons can be in charge of stoking it they dont seem to have anything better to do lazy dragons

Doesn't have to last all day even- it would be a helpful intimidation tool when meeting people she aims to intimidate

She also wasn't hurt by the scalding hot tub water in season 1(?) so I figured it's a constant attribute.

There was a moment earlier in the first season where she was unaffected by high heat, tho

Martin: No, no Targaryans are immune to fire. The thing with Dany and the dragons, that was just a one-time magical event, very special and unique. The Targaryans can tolerate a bit more heat than most ordinary people, they like really hot baths and things like that, but that doesn't mean they're totally immune to fire, no. Dragons, on the other hand, are pretty much immune to fire.

i like how the dragons keep growing

also, i think the dragons burned the shackles off of her in the Tower of something something too.

and i liked how they added breaker of chains to her title and shes a hardcore abolitionist now

also kind of enjoyed how Joffrey is likely right about the dragons while Tywin is so very wrong.

wasnt sure tywin was being totally sincere there, felt more like he was like just trying to shut the kid up so he could go about the business of governing the kingdom himself

could be but not worrying abt baby dragons across the sea while fighting a war on yr doorstep seems p sensible

Every scene with Tywin this season involves very symbolic physical positioning/actions during conversations.

ya but this is tywin the master schemer, its like his raison d'etre to squelch any possible threats to his house, i bet he's not taking this lightly

it's like watching a black hole, he just sucks everyone else's perceived power right out of them when he holds court, it's awesome to watch it work

ok i have a question, danys sidekick solider guy, he was/is a spy for the lannisters? a few weeks ago in the previously on game of thrones segment they had a scene from the first season that i didnt remember where he was warning them abt her via letter i think that made it seem like that was the case

ya i cant remember if he was outed or not??

its seems like hes fully onboard #teamdragon now tho right

he was always conflicted iirc cuz he had a lovebone for daenerys

he is/was working for varys iirc. as far as the show goes, he has not been rumbled and i don't recall him officially renouncing anything.

yeah i guess he is always hanging around that dragon burned castle

tywin is kind of the avatar of cynicism - mundane power and materialism. i think he would at least resist the notion of the return of magic, maybe be in denial if up close to it.

They've had some downtime reserved for sex that can't wait until Mom completely leaves the tent and war planning/note writing that can't wait until underwear is first put back on.
