Also last night was a perfect example why this Wings team ain't going anywhere -- not scoring on a 5 min power play when already leading is hard to excuse in the playoffs.

mookieproof, Friday, 10 May 2013 05:03 (thirteen years ago)

having watched exactly 0 of the hawks/wild series is it fair to say that

a) mn will be fucked for the foreseeable future wrt

b) wild are the flyers of the west?

I don't belong in that class (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 10 May 2013 14:12 (thirteen years ago)

a) ...wrt spending space re: cap

I don't belong in that class (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 10 May 2013 14:12 (thirteen years ago)

The Wild have an impressive prospect pool iirc. Ryan Suter is cap well spent. Heatley, Gilbert and Backstrom's contract are up soon. I wouldn't mind the cap as much as Yeo, whom I think is in the lower tier of NHL coaches.

Van Horn Street, Friday, 10 May 2013 14:44 (thirteen years ago)

Wild got screwed by problems in goal this year too, iirc?

I don't think "fucked" is the word, but it won't be an easy puzzle to solve.

"b) wild are the flyers of the west?"

I was inferring

ah I see, didn't know philly had troubles there

the wild have become my team #2 since I married a minnesotan

Saying the Flyers have goalie trouble is like saying that Spinal Tap have drummer trouble

Sir Lord Baltimora (Myonga Vön Bontee), Friday, 10 May 2013 21:27 (thirteen years ago)

love that one of their castoffs is gonna win the vezina

Gotta love the annual brainfart shortie against the Bruins.

Van Horn Street, Saturday, 11 May 2013 00:31 (thirteen years ago)

Datsyuk is just unfair.

Van Horn Street, Saturday, 11 May 2013 00:55 (thirteen years ago)

datsyuk makes everything look so easy that part of me is like 'why doesn't he do that all the time?' which is totally unfair. he is a joy to watch

mookieproof, Saturday, 11 May 2013 04:13 (thirteen years ago)

He really is one of the greats, it's weird sometimes because he'll disappear for a while and then just pull something out of thin air.

Datsyuk 'disappearing' is kind of a myth, he is not scoring wonder goals every night but offensively and defensively I rarely see an off match.

Van Horn Street, Saturday, 11 May 2013 19:18 (thirteen years ago)

If you meant 'during a game', I agree.

Van Horn Street, Saturday, 11 May 2013 19:20 (thirteen years ago)

Elimination game for the Rangers. Let's win this!

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 12 May 2013 22:37 (thirteen years ago)

I think we made a deal with the hockey gods along the lines of 'having Lundqvist but for an eternally shitty PP'.

Game 7!

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 12 May 2013 23:03 (thirteen years ago)

bzzzzzzt game seven

okay then where are you from/who is yr team (also in baseball)/why

mookieproof, Sunday, 12 May 2013 23:04 (thirteen years ago)

oh it's complicated. Parents are from France, born in Houston and grew up and live in Montreal, hated the Habs from the go and loved the Rangers cause I had a thing for New York even as a kid. Rangers fan ever since. As for baseball, well I discovered baseball a little before the Giants run and the wins inspired me enough to 1. love baseball and 2. become a Giants fan. I was also a little depressed and the win just made me happy.

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 12 May 2013 23:10 (thirteen years ago)

Right now I'm doing an internship in film distribution in southern France. Also.

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 12 May 2013 23:11 (thirteen years ago)

aww. i am in theory pro-habs and anti-rangers, but i'll root for almost anyone (except the flyers) against the caps

anyway, glad to have you on the ilx baseball team

mookieproof, Sunday, 12 May 2013 23:59 (thirteen years ago)

Even I watched (most of) the third period of the Leafs game tonight. Thought I might hear some honking from people who don't think they'll get the chance tomorrow, but there's Facebook now.

Western match-ups are grand.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 13 May 2013 10:27 (thirteen years ago)

Welp, now for days and days of getting trolled by my Chicago friends. I don't think the Wings can take the Hawks, but then again I didn't think they could beat the Ducks either. Guess it's fitting that they end the conference series in the playoffs.

a monolithic testament to shiftlessness and lost productivity (dan m), Monday, 13 May 2013 12:59 (thirteen years ago)

the only west matchup that favors the kings is Detroit. Hawks-Sharks-->Hawks vs East Coast bc Chicago... so strong.
