yeah a friend of mine got married in the maldives a couple of years ago - I was kind of annoyed because 90% of her talking about her wedding was about the travelling and I was like >:( idk care how long it took, TELL ME ABOUT THE HUTS ON THE WATER

wishing I had more opportunity to practise woodturning after a workshop last week
picking up plants to grow. Doing an organic gardening course
heavy psychy stoner-ish rock
getting better at Autocad, hopefully though I get days like today when I forget everything. Maybe I'm just hyperglycaemic

Private Schulz which I just fiished watching last night. Great turn of the 80s BBC war comedy about a hapless ne'erdowell & a set of scams that always benefit other people more tahn himself.

Other old BBC series, just been watching a lot recently starting with I, Claudius, through The Borgias, the oriiginal House of Cards wityh Ian Richardson, Elizabeth R, Edge of Darkness, Boys From The Blackstuff, Our Friends In The North, started Pennies From Heaven but not really gotte into it so far, may try a bit further though.
Got some Brideshead Revisited burnt next but having trouble converting it, not working with what I have been using for the last couple of months.

long islamic shirts now that the weather's getting warmer.

Action philosophers comic book summaries of the great philosophers.

looking forward to the new Ugly Things and Flashback! later this month.

It has "Moon-Boots" by ORS which is prob my #1 all time disco jam

siouxsan sarandon (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 10 May 2013 22:52 (thirteen years ago)

Also fyi the *quintessential* Levan album is Gwen Guthrie's "Padlock" which is a remix album he did. It's probably the best disco album of all time, really.

siouxsan sarandon (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 10 May 2013 22:53 (thirteen years ago)

siouxsan sarandon (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 11 May 2013 22:14 (thirteen years ago)

Also, once you start digging deeper there's a fantastic series of compilations called Disco Discharge; they're all 2xCD and there's maybe like 20 all together? They all have themes, too (Disco Ladies, Euro Disco, Gay Disco, Disco Exotica, etc.)

siouxsan sarandon (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 11 May 2013 22:17 (thirteen years ago)

do u guys have a rolling disco thread where u have dropped knowledge? I AM LOVING ALL OF THIS

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 11 May 2013 22:24 (thirteen years ago)

I've gotten some good stuff from this one

Dubby Disco RFI

also I am assuming you already have the two big LL comps (Journey into Paradise and also Classic West End Remixes Made Famous At etc etc) but this is another fun thing if you want something for a party or housework or whatever:

siouxsan sarandon (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 11 May 2013 22:37 (thirteen years ago)

i don't really have anything at all so this is all super helpful!

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 11 May 2013 22:38 (thirteen years ago)

Between both of those two Levan comps AND the two 2xCD Mancuso Loft comps AND the 2xCD Moulton comp you will prob have a fair amount of overlap but it will also be pretty comprehensive. The Moulton stuff has a different vibe than the Levan stuff (Moulton strikes me as maybe more lush and less funky/dubby)

siouxsan sarandon (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 11 May 2013 22:43 (thirteen years ago)

have been listening to Moulton all day - lush definitely seems like a good word for him!

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 11 May 2013 22:53 (thirteen years ago)

I have a couple of those Disco Discharge compilations, they're great!

siouxsan sarandon (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 23 May 2013 16:03 (thirteen years ago)

i've never seen the show so i'm working my way through the whole thing. halfway through s1 atm.

the Quim of Bendigo (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 23 May 2013 22:31 (thirteen years ago)

Murray is such a queen in the earlier seasons

siouxsan sarandon (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 23 May 2013 22:38 (thirteen years ago)

haha i did wonder about that

the Quim of Bendigo (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 23 May 2013 22:39 (thirteen years ago)

I like how his wife's name is Marie because they already had a character named Mary

siouxsan sarandon (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 23 May 2013 22:47 (thirteen years ago)

Also his name is basically Mary too

siouxsan sarandon (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 23 May 2013 22:48 (thirteen years ago)

it's all still finding its feet atm but i do love that everyone has grown-up conversations, and that real character moments aren't sacrificed for grand gags
