replay suggests penalty

al leong the watchtower (darraghmac), Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:09 (thirteen years ago)

fucking a

mizzell, Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:12 (thirteen years ago)

Oh shi

al leong the watchtower (darraghmac), Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:13 (thirteen years ago)

Worst player on pitch tbh

al leong the watchtower (darraghmac), Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:14 (thirteen years ago)

give that guy an award

mizzell, Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:15 (thirteen years ago)

"Taking everything into account, imo if you can't be challenging for the title, this Villa season is pretty much exactly what you should want from your club. As long as they don't lose all their remaining games and go down anyway that is."

How dya figure? I mean there's been a number of bright points sure, and it's good that we've blooded a load of youngsters who will hopefully move onwards and upwards from here and have a degree of loyalty towards Paulie-Paul and so on and so on, but I'd really rather have had the season that say, Swansea have had. Think our season looks better because basically everyone else (Stoke, Fulham, Newcastle, Sunderland etc. etc.)

Is Bale really off to Real Madrid this summer? What is the point of that?

Windsor Davies, Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:16 (thirteen years ago)

he's never seemed especially eager to leave, but that's the way things go and who else would buy him?

mizzell, Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:20 (thirteen years ago)

... better team, better league, more money, what else do you want?

Bees Against Racism (Tom D.), Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:21 (thirteen years ago)

I dunno, I reckon there's loads to like:

  • playing 'good' footy for the most part
  • don't have to hold your nose to cheer your guys
  • hell of an exciting narrative
  • not much negativity around since McLeish took that with him
  • good future prospects, I mean I'm excited to see what you look like in a couple of years
  • not-being-like-everyone-else is a big part of following a club I reckon, and Villa are totally unlike all the other sides down that way

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:22 (thirteen years ago)

Fantastic finish from Gareth Bale. What a massive player, and what a massive goal that might prove to be.

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:23 (thirteen years ago)

xxp. Well yeah, I get all that. Just boring and tawdry and obvious though, isn't it? Round and round the wheel spins. Steve McManaman II

Windsor Davies, Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:24 (thirteen years ago)

and of course that result means Hull are promoted to the Premier League, what a massive boost for Steve Bruce's men.

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:24 (thirteen years ago)

Not really, not many top British players ever play abroad (xp)

Bees Against Racism (Tom D.), Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:25 (thirteen years ago)

Pretty sure at least one player actually fellated Bale when that goal went in.

Matt DC, Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:25 (thirteen years ago)

According to AVB Bale is staying whether we qualify or not and I reckon Levy will enjoy the summer hardmanning too much.

Matt DC, Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:29 (thirteen years ago)

lol excellent

r|t|c, Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:31 (thirteen years ago)

Modric made us tick but he wasnt worth 25 goals to us. Selling bale without bringing in a guaranteed top end striker as well as a left wing replacement would be a retrograde step in a way that modric leaving to be replaced by dembele wasnt (and huddlestone, holtby there where we have no goalgetter you'd trust in any way)

Lol qpr

al leong the watchtower (darraghmac), Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:31 (thirteen years ago)

True, he probably considers the £12m deflation on Modric money well spent

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:31 (thirteen years ago)

Tell bale one more year, buy a striker, get wing cover, shoot gallas and give parker the pasture space, 2nd easy

al leong the watchtower (darraghmac), Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:32 (thirteen years ago)

Not really, not many top British players ever play abroad (xp)

What's being British got to do with it? All the high-fliers always seems to end up at Real Madrid is what I mean. Whatever, I'm clearly on my own on this one. I reserve the right to be profoundly bored by Gareth Bale's big money move to Real, and I hope against hope he stays at Spurs and helps them maintain a challenge of some sort to become an established top 4 team

Windsor Davies, Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:33 (thirteen years ago)

I think it kinda has got something to do with it tbh

Bees Against Racism (Tom D.), Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:35 (thirteen years ago)

chill dudes, the sun's out, get in the qpr spirit

r|t|c, Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:36 (thirteen years ago)

I'd rather he stayed put, but top scion of Blighty heading to Real is still unusual and interesting. Him going to Utd or Chelsea, that'd be numbing.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:41 (thirteen years ago)

modric saga (and others) has convinced me that there's no point hanging on to a player of league-winning ability if you don't get into cl. if he stays it'll be up to him or on the understanding that it's his last year here. if the rest of the team is that bad that one guy is dragging you near fourth but never guaranteeing it or higher, then you're better off selling the prize asset when worthwhile and picking up the bargains that'll bring the balance or general level up.

it wouldn't have taken much in january this year to nail third- september window was different, as (lol i know) the expectation for adebayor was far higher. if bale decides he wants out there's little or no point trying to convince him that staying on to pass it to this year's crouch- or score the goals to equalise the errors of a persistently feckless back four- is worthwhile

al leong the watchtower (darraghmac), Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:46 (thirteen years ago)

it's vdv leaving that set us back this year fwiw.

al leong the watchtower (darraghmac), Saturday, 4 May 2013 16:47 (thirteen years ago)

In retrospect it's easy to forget that VDV used to be complete pony for half a season. We'd likely have picked up more points early on he wouldn't have been the solution to the problems we've had in the last few months, which have been largely down to a lack of strikers and a need to unbalance the midfield to make up for that.

Would be a lovely time for Andros to score, mind.

Matt DC, Saturday, 4 May 2013 17:16 (thirteen years ago)

what the fuck is this qpr ht music

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Saturday, 4 May 2013 17:18 (thirteen years ago)

i believe that stroke of sonic gallows humour was 'feel this moment' by pitbull and xtina

r|t|c, Saturday, 4 May 2013 17:23 (thirteen years ago)

Amazing.

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Saturday, 4 May 2013 17:30 (thirteen years ago)

this game has been an mildly interesting sort of philosophical quandry interzone between our monied empty apathy and arsenal being insipid pissflaps as usual

draw come ft wouldnt be altogether surprising

r|t|c, Saturday, 4 May 2013 17:37 (thirteen years ago)

So if Wigan beat Swansea on Tuesday, shit suddenly gets very real for the entire bottom half of the table again, doesn't it? Assuming Stoke don't get a win away at Sunderland on Monday night.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 4 May 2013 17:42 (thirteen years ago)

yeah p much

if Villa don't get anything against Chelsea next week they'll probably be back to shitting it again

Newcastle limping over the line by beating QPR seems sort of inevitable, no idea what to expect from Sunderland but they still gotta play Saints

Fulham and Stoke's GD probably too OK for them to get that worried

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 4 May 2013 17:55 (thirteen years ago)

Fulham shouldn't even be in this, dunno how they're going to suddenly turn into scrappers if they need to

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 4 May 2013 17:57 (thirteen years ago)

might just stick £20 on Villa to go down at 25-1, put mah keedz thru calledge

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 4 May 2013 17:59 (thirteen years ago)

though god forbid it should happen

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 4 May 2013 18:00 (thirteen years ago)

Wigan won't beat Swansea or Arsenal. They'll draw with us on the last day of the season and go down. Sunderland and Newcastle both have more cause to be worried than we do now.

Windsor Davies, Saturday, 4 May 2013 18:06 (thirteen years ago)

I'd be vicariously gutted if Southampton went down

The Horse Rustler and the Rustler's Horse (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Saturday, 4 May 2013 18:06 (thirteen years ago)

Wigan very much will beat Swansea. Will Norwich pick up another point though?

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 4 May 2013 18:11 (thirteen years ago)

someone pointed a gun at my head and said pick who's going down I'd say them

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 4 May 2013 18:12 (thirteen years ago)

Is townsend left footed ffs

al leong the watchtower (darraghmac), Saturday, 4 May 2013 18:14 (thirteen years ago)

someone pointed a gun at my head and said pick who's going down I'd say them

In this scenario, are they pointing the gun at your head to force you to reveal the team you think most likely to go down or are they saying they'll shoot you if you get it wrong?

The Horse Rustler and the Rustler's Horse (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Saturday, 4 May 2013 18:26 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah its not rly the time for cold hard truths

Yeah, DW Thatcherism and unpunished McManaman thuggery aside, the main reason I want Wigan to go down now is all those fuckin chuckleheads going "to all the people saying Wigan will go down - have you ever seen Wigan play before? They do this literally every single year!"

chuckleheads otm ffs

Mary, Mary, quite contrary.

Windsor Davies, Saturday, 4 May 2013 18:28 (thirteen years ago)

I think he was saying that the chuckleheads themselves were otm

They quite possibly are, I just don't want them to be

not really sure, if you pointed a gun at my head I'd say the former

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 4 May 2013 18:31 (thirteen years ago)

of course if somebody actually really pointed a gun at my head and said "who's going down" I'd whisper "you" and do just like the most heinous wrist lock on them

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 4 May 2013 18:32 (thirteen years ago)

xpost I think you might well be right actually. Apologies to all concerned, can I call booze as a get out of jail free clause?

Windsor Davies, Saturday, 4 May 2013 18:33 (thirteen years ago)

Shut up newbie xps
