Could see it the first time, man.

Marmot (marmotwolof), Thursday, 19 October 2006 04:59 (nineteen years ago)

Ok, tonight's Halloween episode was completely awesome.

Marmot (marmotwolof), Thursday, 26 October 2006 01:40 (nineteen years ago)

I would say "mostly adequate". The only part I thought was really funny was (of course) Butters.

The Android Cat (Dan Perry), Thursday, 26 October 2006 04:05 (nineteen years ago)

"I HAVE FAITH"

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Thursday, 2 November 2006 06:01 (nineteen years ago)

not funny :(

a.b. (alanbanana), Thursday, 2 November 2006 20:29 (nineteen years ago)

U MAD.

Making fun of Richard Dawkins = funney
Making fun of Richard Dawkins by just showing WHAT HE ACTUALLY THINKS and holding it up for its own ridiculousness (cf the Mormon episode) = funnier
Making fun of Richard Dawkins by just showing WHAT HE ACTUALLY THINKS and holding it up for its own ridiculousness (cf the Mormon episode) in the style of Buck Rogers In the 25th Century = funniest
Making fun of Richard Dawkins by just showing WHAT HE ACTUALLY THINKS and holding it up for its own ridiculousness (cf the Mormon episode) in the style of Buck Rogers In the 25th Century BUT WITH SPACE OTTERS = even more funniestest

"Did not the Dawkins tell us that the most logical answer is the best? They cut down trees to eat off, when they have perfectly good bellies. THEY MUST DIE!"

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 10 November 2006 13:56 (nineteen years ago)

i couldn't think of a more apt summing up of dawkins (as he is these days) as

"it's not enough to understand that there being a god is really unlikely, and understanding evolution properly leads to rational atheism... you have to be a dick about it to everyone too"

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Friday, 10 November 2006 15:32 (nineteen years ago)

odd that pt 2 brought way more funny than pt1 of that. ha ha k-10 kit-9 and cocka-3

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Friday, 10 November 2006 15:33 (nineteen years ago)

Dawkins finding out Mrs Garrison used to be a man over the time-phone was hilarious.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 10 November 2006 15:39 (nineteen years ago)

KILL THE ELDER!

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Friday, 10 November 2006 16:00 (nineteen years ago)

hey aldo, do you watch recent south parks online? (they usually get Digg'd is how i find em)

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Friday, 10 November 2006 16:02 (nineteen years ago)

I just torrent them at the same time as Lost. One easy thing to remember.

I did note today, while I was looking for the "I will feast on his entrails, I will eat them off my tummy" quote that someone had upped the entire episode to a board though.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 10 November 2006 16:46 (nineteen years ago)

otter army riding ostriches = very disturbing

six months pass...
this is growing on me with every episode i watch. loads of good'uns, but i'd like to give special mention to 'free willzyx', which actually left me emotionally devastated by the end. a truly brilliant piece of tragedy, IMO.

Just got offed, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 14:42 (nineteen years ago)

I always kinda liked it, but I recently got seasons 5-10, and have been watching a couple episodes a night. It's brilliant. Although I actually hate him, Eric Cartman is a great character. I loved when he made Scott Tenorman eat his parents, and when he led Congress in singing Asia's "Heat of the Moment".

j-rock, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 01:49 (nineteen years ago)

i dont get why people say that libertarian comedy is "bipartisan," like they're actually taking shots at all sides. i like south park ok, but dont pretend its not advancing an agenda.

max, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 02:22 (nineteen years ago)

the only consistent stance i find they take is one of anti-hypocrisy, and that too much is taken too seriously. i think attributing to them some calculated agenda is missing how nimble they can be at times: they still surprise and successfully wrongfoot me at least, even after 11 seasons, but maybe that's because i haven't really tried to draw out some overarching politics between anal probes and oprah's talking genitals. i do find that they tend to overuse stan appealing to common-sense at the end of episodes a bit, in order to point up the stupidity and reductiveness of parents/politicians/celebrities/religion/country music/etc...but still, the targets are so varied that i never really saw it as promoting its own constant ideology.

how would you characterize their agenda? just...libertarian?

negotiable, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 05:04 (nineteen years ago)

Hahahaha, my friend absolutely adores the scino & mormon episodes, but the Dawkins one pissed her atheist ass right the fuck off. Whereas I live in a void of naught and consequently no thing, tangible or intangible, can harm or offend me. Now to change my lithium-ion battery.

Abbott, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 05:30 (nineteen years ago)

one month passes...

woodland critter christmas + jared has aides = phenomenal, mind-pillaging madness. the way cartman ends JHA is actually one of the most breathtakingly shocking things they've ever done.

new funniest SP moment: when chef's TV turns into a killer robot in the russell crowe episode

Just got offed, Saturday, 16 June 2007 23:53 (nineteen years ago)

cartman ands JHA- whats JHA?

darraghmac, Sunday, 17 June 2007 13:47 (nineteen years ago)

JHA = Jared Has Aides. I thought it ended with Cartman staying in Butters' house pretending to be Butters, getting him in trouble then sitting outside to watch Butters get punished when his parents got home, but I don't get what's shocking about that. Compared to other SP episodes anyway.

V, Sunday, 17 June 2007 15:13 (nineteen years ago)

Every time this thread gets revived when SP isn't on I get worried that it's finally been axed because of 5c13nt0l0g15t3 or something.

BREAKING NEWS:

MATT AND TREY FOUND OUT LOUIS LIKES THIS SHOW SO THEY QUIT.

marmotwolof, Sunday, 17 June 2007 19:41 (nineteen years ago)

that's so unfunny it practically zings itself!

Consider it a tribute to you, then.

holy shit, a Little Britain ref.

kingfish, Friday, 12 October 2007 06:16 (eighteen years ago)

Last night's ep was...odd.

kingfish, Friday, 19 October 2007 01:49 (eighteen years ago)

synopsis?

i saw the Bono/poo-record ep the other week, it made me laff

latebloomer, Friday, 19 October 2007 13:17 (eighteen years ago)

Gonna have to start torrenting these as 11:00 p.m. is now way past my bedtime.

Abbott, Friday, 19 October 2007 19:03 (eighteen years ago)

Shows based around the kids and their interaction with each other are almost always sweet. Shows based around topical subjects of the time, and subsequently as vehicles for Trey Parker to grind his political axes are a lot more hit and miss.

DustinR, Saturday, 20 October 2007 21:53 (eighteen years ago)

That Warcraft episode is tremendous.

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 20 October 2007 21:58 (eighteen years ago)

Shows based around the kids and their interaction with each other are almost always sweet. Shows based around topical subjects of the time, and subsequently as vehicles for Trey Parker to grind his political axes are a lot more hit and miss.

EXACTLY RIGHT.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Sunday, 21 October 2007 07:18 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, that's pretty much dead on. I'd kinda given up on Spark because I thought it was just "PARKER AND STONE'S OPINIONS4U" nowadays, but I caught the pee-wee hockey episode on Paramount and am so now doomed to start watching it again and getting annoyed every other episode.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 21 October 2007 09:19 (eighteen years ago)

^^^Stanley's Cup is one of the very best episodes. I've repped for it before on ILX.

Just got offed, Sunday, 21 October 2007 09:21 (eighteen years ago)

It's a better sports parody than Parker/Stone's BASEketball and DOdgeball combined, and it's over an hour shorter than either.

Just got offed, Sunday, 21 October 2007 09:21 (eighteen years ago)

Is it better than the Little League ep because that one makes me hurt with laughter. But yeah, everybody OTM, fuck their fucking politics and fuck off "satire".

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 21 October 2007 12:44 (eighteen years ago)

Jesus Christ, you have Cylons fighting Santa Claus, and they just need rip on Al Gore some more. What the fuck is up with these guys?

kingfish, Thursday, 1 November 2007 03:49 (eighteen years ago)

This last three-parter was one of the worst series of episodes I've seen. Ok, attacking our imagination is amusing for one episode, but three? I feel like they are fumbling this season. The Bono one was amusing for a one-liner gag, but beyond that was also pretty weak. It's disappointing to me because last season was one of the best they've ever done.

Bill in Chicago, Thursday, 1 November 2007 17:52 (eighteen years ago)

"family guy isn't funny, it's all random shit and pop culture references. here, watch our three-part episode about imagination land, it's loaded with references to old commercials, 80s toys and cartoons. and al gore's a superhero. take that, family guy!"

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 1 November 2007 19:16 (eighteen years ago)

i mean, i laughed here and there.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 1 November 2007 19:17 (eighteen years ago)

Ah, I liked the imaginationland saga. just seeing all those characters and having the whole suck my balls subplot. The superman dude was funny and the Christmas critters returned. The first episode, the terrorists came in and everything felt like bullet-time the way they animated it and had the sound all quiet with a heartbeat. In general the plot was very original and I'm sure there was a metaphor somewhere about Americans' imaginations running wild. I'm sure if we broke this down, we could find the metaphor and I don't think they were just ripping Al Gore. Sarah Silverman did that on the next episode. I felt bad for god, what did he do so wrong to Sarah Silverman anyways (besides the bugles and flowers being creepy)?

CaptainLorax, Thursday, 1 November 2007 19:49 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, the whole trilogy was worth it for the Saving Private Ryan sequence.

Simon H., Thursday, 1 November 2007 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

butters getting screwed over and everything... I see similarities between him and me. He is a very imaginative boy, but society and family ruin his life when he probably has extraordinary talent. All that talent is wasted since the rest of the world is fucked up.

CaptainLorax, Thursday, 1 November 2007 22:47 (eighteen years ago)

and the whole sending of a nuke to end the problems that arose out of nothing... there has got to be some metaphor to the Iraq war and the WTC. I don't know what.

CaptainLorax, Thursday, 1 November 2007 22:50 (eighteen years ago)

these episodes just made me really irritated that I could recognize but not properly identify a minor 80s cartoon character (the little floating wizard guy in a red hat and cloak and a scarf obscuring his otherwise black face - goddammit what the hell was that thing from)
