think this result suits Wigan - better to play Villa if they're safe

I told y'all. How are the run-ins? Do Wigan really have two or three wins in them?

Ismael Klata, Monday, 29 April 2013 20:58 (thirteen years ago)

Let me just post that again, it's like hen's teeth

Ismael Klata, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:00 (thirteen years ago)

On sat at 5pm villa were what, three points and eleven goals behind newcastle? Insane.

Really, really enjoyed this match.

Screenshot is from my new darling. My bro shelled out for this Pro HD Superduper We Broadcast Everything Around The World Live Football account and shared his password. I can watch it all on the ipad and watch back goals etc.

How can you Britishes watch all of the PL live? How much does it cost per month, with what broadcaster? (since I will probably end up living there p soon, this is vital info)

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:01 (thirteen years ago)

it's all set up for a hilarious repeat of the Chelsea 8-0 next week alright

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Monday, 29 April 2013 21:01 (thirteen years ago)

man, even with Quinny as the linesman they couldn't get a result

You've been promising us that forever LBI, this is like Eden Hazard all over again.

I watch on my computer in heavily-pixelated lo-definition fwiw

I have sky and espn and it costs less than having to go to the pub every time United play

Lambo is cock-a-hoop

Ismael Klata, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:05 (thirteen years ago)

Lol IK <3 Wish it was as easy as enthusiasm and promises alone... :-/

@NBS: I ask because I always see youse asking for streams here, which gave me the impression that subscribing to a footy telly thing must be outrageous expensive. That or youse are just cheapskates? For comparison, the (lol) Dutch football channel (so you can watch everything live and cross-platform, as in on your iphone or ipad etc) costs about 25 quid per month

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:07 (thirteen years ago)

I hope Wigan do go down. I bear old lower league grudges against them and Whelan is a prick. Martinez is an ace manager though.

Jason Dowd, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:07 (thirteen years ago)

don't want to shell out to Murdoch, man

(xp)I think Sky is something like that, I honestly can't remember. ESPN is maybe a tenner on top of that, but I've just been contacted to say my ESPN subscription is ending in July, so I guess they've lost the rights to Prem games for next season?

The Horse Rustler and the Rustler's Horse (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 29 April 2013 21:09 (thirteen years ago)

xxxp i keep thinking you're jason dodd

r|t|c, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:09 (thirteen years ago)

That is problematic, yes. Murdoch bought the Dutch footy right, too, last year

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:09 (thirteen years ago)

cheapskate, also I hardly watch any telly anyway and usually am trying to get some work done at the same time so deluxe package would be an extravagance

Ismael Klata, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:10 (thirteen years ago)

NBS, still, doesn't seem too bad though, three tenners per month? I'd hit that.

it's a combination of pure sloth, convenience and cheapskatery with maybe a dash of righteous anticorporate angst fwiw

have a nice Blog (imago), Monday, 29 April 2013 21:11 (thirteen years ago)

@IK, ohhhh so you mean you only get it when buying a deluxe package? Hmmm. That is prob different here, as you can just only buy the footy channel and don't have to pay by proxy for millions of sad porn channels etc. It's not attached to some 'deluxe' package deal I mean.

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:12 (thirteen years ago)

There is no package to watch all games, but i've got sky online through brothers a/c, and my own cable has espn and setanta so i catch all i can

the norman wisdom of gaffers (darraghmac), Monday, 29 April 2013 21:13 (thirteen years ago)

I've just been contacted to say my ESPN subscription is ending in July, so I guess they've lost the rights to Prem games for next season?

We've had an email/letter about that too. BT have won the rights, don't think they've announced any details or prices yet though.

Chris, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:13 (thirteen years ago)

sunderland's goal was beautiful!

have a nice Blog (imago), Monday, 29 April 2013 21:13 (thirteen years ago)

Ah no, by deluxe I just meant 'pay for' rather than free-to-air

Ismael Klata, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:14 (thirteen years ago)

Sky Sports is an expensive add-on to basic Sky, essentially. But I couldn't live without it here, internet is too shite for me to cope with regular streaming

Windsor Davies, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:15 (thirteen years ago)

Dang. This sounds complicated. So games are scattered across several channels?

This could be a dealbreaker in moving to the UK tbh

xp Gotcha IK. Here there's just one 'footy channel', for 2 tenners a months you can watch all matches live, playback to goals in realtime etc.

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:16 (thirteen years ago)

From the Beeb's website:

Will Moores: "I'd love Benteke at Spurs, he'd thrive off all the service he'd get.

I think this is actually quite true. If I were Spurs I'd try and ditch Adebayor and get Benteke.

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:19 (thirteen years ago)

Said it before and I'll say it again, £15 mil and Jermain Defoe, we're talking. Throw in Thudd and you can have Darren Bent and all

Windsor Davies, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:20 (thirteen years ago)

Nbc deal is gonna make the streams more available youd hope, but its cuntish that everywhere else gets to choose from all the matches and ireland doesnt

the norman wisdom of gaffers (darraghmac), Monday, 29 April 2013 21:20 (thirteen years ago)

*that "you" wasnt aimed specifically at you LBI btw

wonder which ILF poster is the most conceivable front for Levy

have a nice Blog (imago), Monday, 29 April 2013 21:21 (thirteen years ago)

Lol at the 'hard bargain' levy would send jermaine in a western union outfit with the fucking cheque for 15m

the norman wisdom of gaffers (darraghmac), Monday, 29 April 2013 21:22 (thirteen years ago)

I don't know. My garden is a right mess, if Bent can sort that out I'd gladly have him Windsor!

xxp

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:22 (thirteen years ago)

Only thing bent has planted lately are his feet

the norman wisdom of gaffers (darraghmac), Monday, 29 April 2013 21:23 (thirteen years ago)

It's different in Ireland. Here live games are split between Sky and one other channel, with highlights on BBC at weekends. Lots of games (i.e. all Sat 3pm ones) aren't shown live at all, hence streaming actually on that view is more attractive.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:23 (thirteen years ago)

Beggars can't be choosers Dmac, I bet we won't get more than £17 mil for the boy as it is, Defoe remains criminally underrated xp

Windsor Davies, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:23 (thirteen years ago)

Nah thats exactly the same ik

the norman wisdom of gaffers (darraghmac), Monday, 29 April 2013 21:24 (thirteen years ago)

Jaysus youd struggle to sell him for less than 20m surely?

the norman wisdom of gaffers (darraghmac), Monday, 29 April 2013 21:26 (thirteen years ago)

Srsly though Deems, I know it remains to be seen how Benteke will do at a top tier club, but he seems pretty decent for Spurs, no?

I mean, I am still amazed no journalist hasn't uncovered yet that Adebayor is actually 43 years old. And a 43 year old nihilist at that. Get a young gun in the centre attacking position and you're good to go.

(Benteke seems suited, Demba Ba would, too, but he chose for lol benching at Chelsea + $$$)

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:26 (thirteen years ago)

Didn't you lot used to get live games on a saturday? When I was growing up that, and the all-Ireland final, made the place seem impossibly exotic.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:27 (thirteen years ago)

I do not for the life of me understand why anyone would want to scatter THE FOOTBALL across several channels. Having to look in your guide to see what match is on where? Criminal.

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:27 (thirteen years ago)

xxxpost Dunno, how much is one good season worth atm? Would love an extravagant payday almost as much as I'd love him to stay tbph

Windsor Davies, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:28 (thirteen years ago)

I hope that my certainty that villa could do a decent deal for the lad wont be misconstrued as a lack of enthusiasm lbi, he'd do nicely

the norman wisdom of gaffers (darraghmac), Monday, 29 April 2013 21:28 (thirteen years ago)

Not misconstrued, fully understood

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:29 (thirteen years ago)

LBI - I've been trying to make sense of my bill to give you an idea of the costs. I seem to be charged £55.50 a month plus £10 a month for ESPN. I think that £55.50 includes about £10 a month for HD and something tiny (maybe three quid) for a bundle of pointless channels that includes Eurosport (which I need for the cycling coverage). So you're probably looking at about £15ish to have Sky in the first place and about £25ish to have the Sky Sports package. That used to be enough, but then the EU ruled it wasn't competitive enough and said that at least one other broadcaster had to have access to live Prem games. This was A BAD THING because it's based on the total fantasy that all viewers just want to see some football (any old game will do) and will shop around for the best channel to do this, whereas in reality most viewers support a team and want to see every game that team plays (and so have to pay for every channel).
