presumably the original run of "my little pony." but i think most mlp fans were probably just being born around the time of its airing, so i doubt nostalgia plays a huge role

just disinterest I would think? make sense that anyone into FIM would get into Powerpuff Girls but not necessarily '80s MLP (unless they actively want to seek ersatz nostalgia)

I have not studied this in depth or anything but my guess is most of them just like being in some community and having something to talk about, sorta dig that they get to be absurdist in a 'look at me' way, don't actually enjoy the cartoons that much or I mean maybe it's moderately entertaining, who knows. and then a few are probably just perverts.
