Thanks to everyone for completely restoring my interest in getting the hell out of the house. I had a great time and look forward to doing it again soon!

For those involved in "predict quincie's cab fare home," the total was. . . $11.50! I argued a bit with the guy but he's like, "that's always the fare! Look at the map!" FUCK NO I AM NOT GOING TO LOOK AT THAT RIDICULOUS MAP whatever just take me home.

quincie, Friday, 28 October 2005 13:00 (twenty years ago)

that's always their reasoning, "Just look at the map!" Sometimes I think hidden in that map is actually a hypnotic code, since there's no other way that looking at it would explain your fare.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Friday, 28 October 2005 13:08 (twenty years ago)

i just ate/drank the weirdo thai aloe drink quincie gave me last night and although the texture was sorta creepy it was pretty delicious

Zack Richardson (teenagequiet), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:28 (twenty years ago)

we all have to come up with gifts to give her next time we meet.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:30 (twenty years ago)

Zack did it taste like ECTOPLASM? 'Cause that's what it looked/felt like!

Did you chill it or drink it room temp?

So many ASIAN SNAX questions. . .

quincie, Friday, 28 October 2005 18:36 (twenty years ago)

make your choices now

petesmith (plsmith), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:39 (twenty years ago)

tofu salad
bitter melon pork
iced myanmar coffee
sticky rice

petesmith (plsmith), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:41 (twenty years ago)

I'm thinking of bitter melon chicken.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:42 (twenty years ago)

the reason i like the pork one better is that the sweetness of the pork sets off a biff!bang!pow! counterpoint with the awesome bitterness of the bitter pork.

jesus christ. i think ill eat mandalay tomorrow.

petesmith (plsmith), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

uh. the third time i said "pork," i meant "melon."

petesmith (plsmith), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

oh really? Maybe I should try the pork one instead. Maybe I should look at the menu beyond clicking on "chicken entrees" and deciding. Maybe I should never ever look at a menu when my stomach is hurting a little. So many maybes.

POCKY G v MEN'S POCKY fite!

petesmith (plsmith), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:46 (twenty years ago)

petesmith (plsmith), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:46 (twenty years ago)

i got up at 1pm! i should drink less! and you all should smoke less cause now my house smells!

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:48 (twenty years ago)

xpost YOU GOT UP AT 1PM??????????? DUDE I HATE YOU RIGHT NOW.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:48 (twenty years ago)

i dont think so, ally. i just wanted to make a po(c/r)k(y/_) joke...

petesmith (plsmith), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:51 (twenty years ago)

I think my mind just melted trying to follow that that meant pork/pocky! I didn't even drink that much last night, christ almighty.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:53 (twenty years ago)

I'm going:

squash fritters
fried tofu salad
tofu in coconut cream sauce w/vegetables, spiced...oh, shit, let's go whole hog here and get it spicy. i'm not gonna cry this time.
sticky rice

q: lightly chilled, like a nice white wine. it did taste a lot like ectoplasm. the liquid went first, leaving me with a cup full of aloe chunks to eat, but they were the best part actually!

and what exactly is so "manly" about men's pocky?

Zack Richardson (teenagequiet), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:56 (twenty years ago)

you know what I don't like is the giant Pocky, what kind is that? Comedy sized pocky is good for no one.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:57 (twenty years ago)

aw man we should do a DC FADS (fancy a dim sum) in rockville sometime, too.

im hungry. tired and hungry are locked in a big battle right now.

petesmith (plsmith), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:57 (twenty years ago)

at least you're not wearing yesterday's clothes

Zack Richardson (teenagequiet), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:58 (twenty years ago)

$11.50?! That's robbery. And after all that, you were still in Cleveland Park!

I only just realized that I ate all the Pocky G in one sitting last night. And whatever snax were within range of my meathooks. Thanks, quince.

Good meeting you all, although I don't think we convinced p&z's "friend" to join us. She needs some bitter melon.

Stephen X (Stephen X), Friday, 28 October 2005 19:00 (twenty years ago)

hows your eye? i told you to email me when you got back!

petesmith (plsmith), Friday, 28 October 2005 19:01 (twenty years ago)

uh - zack, not stephen...

petesmith (plsmith), Friday, 28 October 2005 19:02 (twenty years ago)

Oh man check this out:

SL05. Let Phet Thoke (Green Tealeaf Salad)
Fermented tealeaf, tomato, and cabbage tossed with Burmese dressing, garnished with fried garlic and crispy yellow peas

Also:

P09. WetThar PoneYayGyi Hin
Pork and fermented horse gram powder simmered in onion base curry

WTF horse gram powder WTF aaaaaaagh I must know!

When the hell are we doing this? Am I going to miss yogay AGAIN?

quincie, Friday, 28 October 2005 19:03 (twenty years ago)

disappointingly "horse gram powder" appears to be some kind of bean :( :(

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Friday, 28 October 2005 19:05 (twenty years ago)

whoa - its like drugs + drugs + drugs = bean!

petesmith (plsmith), Friday, 28 October 2005 19:07 (twenty years ago)

we're doing this whenever you want, quincie.

petesmith (plsmith), Friday, 28 October 2005 19:08 (twenty years ago)

ok - im gonna do some work.

petesmith (plsmith), Friday, 28 October 2005 19:08 (twenty years ago)

It's 4pm dude, why bother?

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Friday, 28 October 2005 19:15 (twenty years ago)

I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank all you taxpayers for covering forty hours of salary this week when, in fact, I probably worked maybe thirty. Thank you also for paying a 30% to 50% premium for a humble contractor to do this work instead of a fed. Because hey, they worked even less than me.

Thank you and good night.

quincie, Friday, 28 October 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

woke up at 2:45

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Friday, 28 October 2005 19:52 (twenty years ago)

That was fun! We could also do the dim sum in Annadale--there is a great place there--A&J, I think, but it's pretty small. Though I am willing to experiment in Rockville.

When are we going apple picking?

Mary (Mary), Friday, 28 October 2005 20:36 (twenty years ago)

SL05. Let Phet Thoke (Green Tealeaf Salad)

This stuff is great. Yay for Mandalay and Silver Spring talk, it makes me feel less pathetically suburban.

adam (adam), Friday, 28 October 2005 20:37 (twenty years ago)

it's a & j in rockville too. delicious!!!

carly (carly), Friday, 28 October 2005 20:38 (twenty years ago)

Mandalay looks delicious. I will totally attend.

Mary (Mary), Friday, 28 October 2005 20:48 (twenty years ago)

I'll try to be there but I might have too much of a crazy week. Quincy I got charged $11 to take a cab from Van Ness to upper Georgetown a few weeks age, so.. I don't know, something about that zone map, it's like the same price to go all the way to Virginia.

hahahahaha OTM

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Monday, 31 October 2005 15:36 (twenty years ago)

That was pathetic. What a sorry performance.

dar1a g (daria g), Monday, 31 October 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

It was amazing! I expected the Giants to win and still couldn't comprehend the kind of massive failure going on down on that field!

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Monday, 31 October 2005 17:39 (twenty years ago)

remember when the redskins won the superbowl when i was in kindergarten?
hail to the redskins, hail victory!

carly (carly), Monday, 31 October 2005 17:42 (twenty years ago)

The last time the Giants blanked the 'Skins, I was in like 1st grade!

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Monday, 31 October 2005 17:44 (twenty years ago)

I tuned in to catch the first series when Tiki Barber had that long run all the way down inside the ten, and thought... oh, shit, this is gonna be a long day. It's so funny, after last week the DC sportswriters were all like OMG OMG OMG, we have a really good football team!

I remember insisting that my parents let me have a pizza party back in middle school when the Redskins played the Broncos in the Super Bowl. I think a few of the original Hogs were still in the lineup then..

dar1a g (daria g), Monday, 31 October 2005 18:06 (twenty years ago)

Yeah but they beat the Niners last week, I mean that's like being pleased because you ran over a squirrel in your Hummer! The game was entertaining for the level of excuses the sportscasters were making for the absolutely atrocious performance the Skins were, er, pulling off. I mean they looked hung over or something...Needless to say I am incredibly pleased with their performance, sorry guys.

I remember CRYING after the Redskins/Buffalo super bowl!

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Monday, 31 October 2005 18:09 (twenty years ago)

I can't find any stills of that one terrifying muscle pose Strahan did. Anyway LOL PWNED.

TOMBOT, Monday, 31 October 2005 18:21 (twenty years ago)

I'm not interested in sports. LOL PWNED.

Anyway, you guys should hang out at this Giants bar:
