I'm much further north. Plus, I had a car. Which, now that I realize it, means I probably should've offered you a ride. But I still had to schmooze a bit.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 07:50 (twenty years ago)

You are someone who it does not pay to be subtle with, I suppose.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 2 March 2006 07:52 (twenty years ago)

Aw man.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 07:56 (twenty years ago)

It's totally cool, it was a nice walk, A. and I got to talk about assorted things. But, you know, I will try to be more direct in the future. It is not my strong suit.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 2 March 2006 07:57 (twenty years ago)

I'm not dead. I just slept as if I were.

Nutsy the Squirrel (pullapartgirl), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:11 (twenty years ago)

Yaaay, Jenny's not dead. I have brown hair. Chris, how long will you be here?

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:16 (twenty years ago)

PICTURES, AMANDA!!!

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:51 (twenty years ago)

I wish I had some -- I can't get photos to download from my camera to our new computer but maybe I can figure that out tonight. So far no one at work has even noticed. What's up with that?

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:54 (twenty years ago)

I was exceptionally tired this morning, dispite getting ample sleep . . . maybe all of america suffers from the same?

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:12 (twenty years ago)

That must be why no one has noticed my new head. Too tired.

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:14 (twenty years ago)

I can't wait for 24 hour living. This month's New Scientist has an article on the next wave of pharmaceuticals that will allow people to stay up 48 hours with little to no ill effects. Sign me up.

Jeff. (Jeff), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:19 (twenty years ago)

I'm afraid of that. I read that article, too. It didn't look all that revolutionary. Just sophistocated uppers and downers.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:21 (twenty years ago)

See, and I already do that. Sleeping pill last night, coffee this morning. I'm golden.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:22 (twenty years ago)

I am still sick-ish, but back at work and better than yesterday. A sore throat is much easier to deal with than a head cold.

xpost, do you people hate sleep?!

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:22 (twenty years ago)

the sophisticated uppers and downers don't even work for me, alas. not well, anyway.

and sleep is a wonderful thing. i wouldn't want to avoid it. i wish i could get more!

amanda, what color was your hair before? maybe people aren't saying anything because each person doesn't want to be the millionth person to comment. a lot of people have seemed not to notice my new glasses, which are quite different from my old glasses and rather obvious.

Juulia (julesbdules), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:29 (twenty years ago)

I'm not dead. I just slept as if I were.

-- Nutsy the Squirrel (rabbitrabbi...), March 2nd, 2006.

I am feeling a little sore from yoga. After yoga I had beers and I fucked up some chorizo nachos, thereby cancelling out the health benefits of prior workouts.

jesseOooo, Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:33 (twenty years ago)

I take sleeping pills now, but I'd gladly get rid of them to stay up all the time. I like sleep, but I'd much rather have that time to be more productive, or at least continue procrastinating.

Jeff. (Jeff), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:36 (twenty years ago)

My hair was varying stages of red before. Right after I dyed it, it was vibrant RED red, then it would fade (rather quickly) to red. After a while, it was "muted orange-brown." Naturally, it's brown, but it had been red for a loooooong time. On and off for 6 or 7 years. I felt like I had been stuffing my bra, so I went back to natural dark brown.

The coworkers finally noticed - everyone seems to like it.

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:39 (twenty years ago)

I spent the first night in new bedroom last night, and predictably enough couldn't find anything this morning. Had to wake my landlord up to get back into my old room. All dust still not settled, everyone's moves should be over by tonight or tomorrow morning, then it's just the arranging to do. Still v stressed.

Amanda I love having new hair and I hope yours is awesome!! And I wish I had been at the C@n@sta show last night cos I liked what I heard last time.

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:41 (twenty years ago)

Oooh, new bedroom -- when you woke up, were you pleasantly disoriented or unpleasantly disoriented?

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:48 (twenty years ago)

After yoga I had beers and I fucked up some chorizo nachos, thereby cancelling out the health benefits of prior workouts.

au contraire! beer and nachos can tap into the mind-body connection. the beer relaxes you, the nachos make you happy because NACHOS RULE. this positive effect on your psyche can enhance the benefits of yoga because it adds to your overall contentment.

Juulia (julesbdules), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:53 (twenty years ago)

Mmmm, nachos.

I am going out for beer and clam chowder after work for a post-Maddie Gras celebration. Surely one beer can't damage my frail constitution too much?

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:58 (twenty years ago)

No disorientation, nice clean sheets, and the relief of having my personal little isolation bubble (aka my bedroom) relocated, even if there are masses of other things still to be done. Am looking forward to the new arrangement. Thanks for asking!

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:02 (twenty years ago)

nah. you can always veto last call, sign your bill & go home for a few amendments.

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:03 (twenty years ago)

that is far dumber out loud than it was in my head!

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:05 (twenty years ago)

Haha.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:06 (twenty years ago)

I am still reeling from the revelation that Amanda is not a natural redhead.

I keep imagining the new hair, and I like it.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:08 (twenty years ago)

I just had someone take a photo...stay tuned!

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:19 (twenty years ago)

i can't hold my breath forever!!

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:31 (twenty years ago)

the guy who took the photo isn't at his desk right now for me to pester him. it's permanent hair dye, so it'll be this way for a while. doncha worry, pet.

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:35 (twenty years ago)

What's your natural hair color, again?

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:36 (twenty years ago)

"brown" -- the color now is much closer (though a leetle darker) than my natural color.

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:37 (twenty years ago)

That makes sense.

Maddie dyed her hair very red before New Orleans, didn't like it, and then died it dark brown the next night. I think. I have this weird thing where I can't tell much of a difference until two weeks later, when I say "oh yeah, you did dye your hair."

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:40 (twenty years ago)

Amanda, I bet everyone was just too intimidated by your beauty to say anything at first.

After my next payday (yeah, my last one was just yesterday, but I'm already pining for the next one, ha ha) I plan to get a haircut and highlites again. I can only afford to get them once a year. ha ha.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:43 (twenty years ago)

I don't know who would be intimidated by this: Dig the new hair, which is flat and greasy because I haven't washed it for three days. Also dig the purple sweater and hunchback.

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:04 (twenty years ago)

I am here until, oh, probably Tuesday.

Also I think I am still drunk from last night. Whee! : (

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:04 (twenty years ago)

Also I think I am still drunk from last night.

I felt that way when I got up, too. Now I think I'm just tired.

Sorry I bailed w/o saying bye last night, C and J - I went out to talk on the phone, saw a bus, and took it.

Steely Df'nM (OutDatWay), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:08 (twenty years ago)

Totally.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:09 (twenty years ago)

Also, I was starting to think the girl bartender was really cute. Not to say that she wasn't, but generally when that kind of thing starts happening to me I've had enough to drink.

Steely Df'nM (OutDatWay), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:10 (twenty years ago)

You've had enough to drink when you think she's cute AND might actually be TOTALLY into you.

gbx (skowly), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:11 (twenty years ago)

Totally.

Steely Df'nM (OutDatWay), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:12 (twenty years ago)

She was cute, but not as cute as the gal who did the sound! OMG. Of course, she was exponentially cuter because she was a SOUND GAL. At one point, after sound-check, she was sitting at the bar reading some sort of sound-engineer magazine. :-D

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:13 (twenty years ago)

I like the bartender at the emptybottle that gives me free sodas.

Jeff. (Jeff), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:15 (twenty years ago)

I don't even remember a girl bartender. I was mostly thinking, "oh, this is such a relatively reasonable price to be paying for this Maker's, how can I not order it?"

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:19 (twenty years ago)

My blog is working again. Hooray!

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:22 (twenty years ago)

I know that girls have had too much to drink when they are actually totally into me.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:27 (twenty years ago)

is your girlfriend drunk, like, all the time?

gbx (skowly), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:29 (twenty years ago)

She doesn't count, but as it happens, yes.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:30 (twenty years ago)

I like the bartender at the emptybottle that gives me free sodas.

i like the ones that give me free booze.

did the show go as well as the soundcheck?

chicago kevin (chicago kevin), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:35 (twenty years ago)

I know I stole it from Eazy, but I really like using the word "gal" now. Guys are always "guys," from when they're teenagers until they're old men -- but it's rough transitioning from "girl" to "woman." "Women" always seem like they should be much older than I am, but at a certain age "girl" can start to sound condescending. So for now, "gal" it is.
