I found this pretty tedious. It wasn't funny/campy (not that it tried to be), but neither was it anywhere close to shocking/menacing. It felt suggestive of other things--a bit of Manson, a bit of Sport from Taxi Driver, a lot of Wild Things--and the early scenes, before they left, caught a mood of sorts. Franco's good. I didn't know how to take the sledgehammer irony of the various calls home. This was my first Harmony Korine film--maybe context would add something I missed.

This is one of the most important films I've seen in a long time. Wonder how it would do in a double billing with Crossroads.

just watched, dug it. most of what needs saying's been said, e.g. telephone thing and pat finn a few posts back. disconnected, beautifully photographed, fluctuating between horrible banality and seductive fantasy, good shit.

i loved it but harmony still doesnt seem to know how not to make an ending jarring. i loved the ambience of the film as a whole but when it got to the conclusion, it seemed to ruin the whole mood to try and create a proper narrative conclusion - seemed out of sync with the not-really-that-much-narrative feel of what came before. needs to play in a double bill with the bling ring (which is better btw)

the whole final scene with the shootout is beautifully shot.

i loved this movie, and just after it came out the taxi driver thread got bumped and I was like "ah, makes sense" but the taxi driver revive was not about the last scene of this movie and I was like wut

I mean I'm not a sophisticated viewer but I thought the link between 2 films w obv fantasy violence endings was obv!
