I sort of figured the Dany thing would happen but that didn't make it any less enjoyable.
Biggest mystery of the season is now what the fuck is up with Podraig's sexual prowess?
― Gukbe, Monday, 22 April 2013 02:04 (thirteen years ago)
Also this episode was the shit
in the books it's literally "Podrick" fyi, because
― fucking Telstra (silby), Monday, 22 April 2013 03:00 (thirteen years ago)
Man why did I assume it was an Irish thing.
― Gukbe, Monday, 22 April 2013 03:07 (thirteen years ago)
Tywin is basically the Jack Donaghy of Game of Thrones
making people wait, solving problems with money, etc.
― fucking Telstra (silby), Monday, 22 April 2013 03:07 (thirteen years ago)
yeah I saw the Danerys thing coming but goddamn that was a sweet payoff
I don't always love what they do with her in this series but I love her story
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 April 2013 05:10 (thirteen years ago)
This was by a wide, wide margin the best episode of this season so far. I was kind of losing interest tbrr; this shot in the arm was much needed.
Maergary's playing of Joffrey might be my favorite thread of the season.
― brad palsy (Jon Lewis), Monday, 22 April 2013 05:13 (thirteen years ago)
lol Joffrey putting his arm up to wave
― Gukbe, Monday, 22 April 2013 05:15 (thirteen years ago)
well this season just got excellent.
― Clay, Monday, 22 April 2013 12:08 (thirteen years ago)
Dany fucking up the slavers is one of my favourite sequences in the book, and they really did it justice.
― I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Monday, 22 April 2013 14:41 (thirteen years ago)
yup
I liked that exchange btw Cersei and Tywin, "She's got her claws in Joffrey and knows just how to manipulate him." "Good, I wish you knew how too." (or however it went)
also the scene of Varys opening the box with the sorcerer in it was p good
― dmr, Monday, 22 April 2013 16:02 (thirteen years ago)
somehow didn't expect the 'native tongue' bit, tho the rest was well telegraphed (and in retrospect, that was too).
― Chuck E was a hero to most (s.clover), Monday, 22 April 2013 16:13 (thirteen years ago)
yeah it made sense. and made it more plausible that she would go ham like that after you learn that she heard and understood all the insults from that dude.
― dmr, Monday, 22 April 2013 16:17 (thirteen years ago)
That was one of the better episodes for sure. Lots of fun.
― polyphonic, Monday, 22 April 2013 16:24 (thirteen years ago)
Varys <3 I love that goddamn eunuch.
― mackleless (latebloomer), Monday, 22 April 2013 17:07 (thirteen years ago)
I really dig the show's version of Margaery too. Also love how Joffrey's dorkiness comes out when he's around her.
― mackleless (latebloomer), Monday, 22 April 2013 17:18 (thirteen years ago)
I love how booby her dresses are. She's like Game of Thrones catwoman
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 April 2013 17:23 (thirteen years ago)
(in a good way)
I love how Jaimme was all emo sadface 'sniff but I lost my sword hand, what's the use of it all, etc sniff'
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 April 2013 17:24 (thirteen years ago)
gotta be honest no one had the Old Bear in our deadpool this week. damn.
― inste grammophon (rogermexico.), Monday, 22 April 2013 18:20 (thirteen years ago)
tbf - i would probably be in the same kind of head space if lost my... *ahem* sword hand as well.

amazing epi

Daenerys was awesome, one hell of an ep!
― Jason Dowd, Monday, 22 April 2013 19:12 (thirteen years ago)
irl lolled at theon's fate
― r|t|c, Monday, 22 April 2013 19:33 (thirteen years ago)
what was the point of him doing all that anyways?! was it some kind of meta torture or something?!
― Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 22 April 2013 19:38 (thirteen years ago)
currying favour?
― cozen, Monday, 22 April 2013 19:41 (thirteen years ago)
with the torturers, I mean
― cozen, Monday, 22 April 2013 19:42 (thirteen years ago)
the ones he killed?!
― Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 22 April 2013 19:47 (thirteen years ago)
give captive hope only to take it all away is an oldschool psychological breakdown torture classic iirc
― Clay, Monday, 22 April 2013 19:48 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah usually you don't kill four of your own dudes in the process.
― Evan, Monday, 22 April 2013 19:50 (thirteen years ago)
oh wow that Theon fakeout was the best, I really dug that
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 April 2013 19:53 (thirteen years ago)
I suppose Theon's captor is an unusual dude. xp.
― Clay, Monday, 22 April 2013 19:59 (thirteen years ago)
obv imo there was something "off" about theon's escape so i wasn't exactly surprised at what it turned out to be but it was still grimly lolful.
― christmas candy bar (al leong), Monday, 22 April 2013 20:01 (thirteen years ago)
otm
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 April 2013 20:01 (thirteen years ago)
yeah, also worth considering is that theon was the only one who knew bran and rickon were alive and now he told this guy
― ciderpress, Monday, 22 April 2013 20:02 (thirteen years ago)
was it some kind of meta torture or something?!
I took it as, they weren't getting info out of Theon so they set up the fake escape, had the guy who let him go gain his trust, & at the very end there got Theon to admit he was loyal to the Starks
but yeah this is otm ---> usually you don't kill four of your own dudes in the process
― dmr, Monday, 22 April 2013 20:02 (thirteen years ago)
the torturers are balon's crew or what? i have really no idea. not sure i'm supposed to though.
― christmas candy bar (al leong), Monday, 22 April 2013 20:10 (thirteen years ago)
Bolton's, i'm pretty sure. the "boy" is Bolton's "bastard".
― Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 22 April 2013 20:17 (thirteen years ago)
i'm not sure how vague it's supposed to be, theon's story after the sack of winterfell is written kind of non-linearly in the books and they're clearly handling it differently in the tv show
― ciderpress, Monday, 22 April 2013 20:17 (thirteen years ago)
More compelling if you know as much as Theon going along.
― Evan, Monday, 22 April 2013 20:35 (thirteen years ago)
I haven't seen the season 3 episodes yet, but yeah, in the books this plotline has a lot of uncertainty and ambiguity.
― Moodles, Monday, 22 April 2013 20:46 (thirteen years ago)
Dany fucking up the slavers is one of my favourite sequences in the book, and they really did it justice.same, absolute class.
Best scene of the week - and I loved Olenna Tyrell & Varys too. Conleth Hill is just brilliant in every scene he's in.
― gyac, Monday, 22 April 2013 22:36 (thirteen years ago)
god varys and olenna was fantastic - I said to Mr Veg it was like watching 2 snakes in conversation
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 April 2013 22:38 (thirteen years ago)
