I'd say that there's a chance Snowe flips, but I doubt it. She may follow the Lieberman route of staying with her party, but seeking a larger role as a centrist/independent power broker.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:08 (nineteen years ago)

if Chris Shays wins, she's not going anywhere

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:08 (nineteen years ago)

Frankly, I'm mortified, folks.

Menendez, Hevesi, Ted goddamm Kennedy. Dems are voting 'no war' and have NO PLAN WHATSOEVER after that. No one gives a shit that the people they're nominating are crooks and thieves.

I'm actually shaking with rage.

Way to go, America! Way to stick it to "Dubya!"

Juan Milius (Roger Fidelity), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:10 (nineteen years ago)

Um, Howard Dean was just on CNN saying that Dems are still pretty much anti-troop withdrawal, even though 50% of the public support it in some form.

CNN projects Dems take the House

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:13 (nineteen years ago)

my local ABC affiliate is scheduled to be showing a program entitled "Vote 2006." actually showing: circa '92 ep of America's Funniest Home Videos

W i l l (common_person), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:14 (nineteen years ago)

i'd say the two are pretty ideologically consistent.

blackmail (blackmail.is.my.life), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:14 (nineteen years ago)

Any chance that there's a cache of postal or provisional votes that are not included in the VA totals?

Webb just looked like he was going to concede but just mumbled something about "hang in there". 13,000 with 83 precincts left.

Time for bed. Good night, USers.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:14 (nineteen years ago)

who replace roger with ed anger?

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:15 (nineteen years ago)

Wow. Clay Shaw was defeated by 4 percentage points -- thet 25-yr vet goes down.

Tim Mahoney unseated Joe Negrone, Mark Foley's replacement.

W i l l (common_person), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:28 (nineteen years ago)

Maryland senate race still a factor? Numbers changing in Missouri.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:29 (nineteen years ago)

30,000 absentee ballots uncounted in Fairfax County? I'm having 2000 flashbacks.

carson dial (carson dial), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:32 (nineteen years ago)

where did you hear that?

W i l l (common_person), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:34 (nineteen years ago)

um, so i guess chasing lieberman out of the party wasn't such a good idea after all (not that I like him)

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:34 (nineteen years ago)

we're still waiting on Richmond in VA. I think Webb's got it.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:35 (nineteen years ago)

xpost - on MSNBC (via the CNBC telecast).

carson dial (carson dial), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:36 (nineteen years ago)

"I'm Joe Lieberman and I approve of this election."

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:37 (nineteen years ago)

jesus this is close. how long will we have to wait to hear from these mid-west states? I want to know how MO will turn out before i go to sleep.

and why the hell isn't my own next congressman determined yet? come on, Kissel. come on county counters, you suck.

like murderinging (modestmickey), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:44 (nineteen years ago)

"Lieberman is counted for the Democrats," sez NPR. Yeesh. Can we give Webb back?

don (dow), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:44 (nineteen years ago)

VA down to 3000

W i l l (common_person), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:45 (nineteen years ago)

Maffei falls just short in NY-25, and WY-AL tightens to even, but Wulsin coming back in OH-2, and Cranley leading slightly in OH-1

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:46 (nineteen years ago)

Where are you guys getting your numbers on VA race? MSNBC seems behind you.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:47 (nineteen years ago)

I don't want a Senate majority, which is bound to be thinnest, if those two assholes are the swing votes. Got the House though, h'mm.

Rudy Wontfail (dow), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:47 (nineteen years ago)

WEBB AHEAD ON MSNBC

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:50 (nineteen years ago)

btw is anyone else asking wtf is up with the MO numbers? they're the opposite of the polls.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:50 (nineteen years ago)

Richmond is still outstanding in VA. Webb is your next Senator from Virginia.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:51 (nineteen years ago)

VA-Sen is going to give me a heart attack

like murderinging (modestmickey), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:53 (nineteen years ago)

gabbneb, Fox were saying that the MO cities tend to report quite late, so that may explain the current situation there.

carson dial (carson dial), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:53 (nineteen years ago)

oh wait, I wasn't refreshing properly - a lot of Richmond has reported, so it's going to the wire

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:56 (nineteen years ago)

Webb within 2000

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:57 (nineteen years ago)

MSNBC has him up by 2500, 99% in.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:58 (nineteen years ago)

is this election the quaintest in ages? i can think of few of less consequence, viz. this is more or less a continuation of Do Nothing Congress v 2.0, imho.

blackmail (blackmail.is.my.life), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:58 (nineteen years ago)

yeah richmond will only deliver about 1500 more by my estimate. arlington may still have 1000 to give.

W i l l (common_person), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:59 (nineteen years ago)

like murderinging (modestmickey), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 05:05 (nineteen years ago)

"I'm Joe Lieberman and I approve of this election."

I heard that while taking a dump, and I wanted to fling feces @ my TV after he said that. Go lick a pork sausage, Joe.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 05:09 (nineteen years ago)

I'm totally cool with a 50/50 senate minus Senator Shitmixture and an executive that's hated to the tune of sixty-six percent. Nancy and the Zombies should provide some interesting song and dance from the cabinet - the promise of no impeachment proceedings might very well come with a long list of ancillary demands *fingers in pretzel shapes* and I imagine a lot of those R's in the upper house might actually want to keep their positions after Cheney goes down in a medley of flames and impervious circulatory plumbing.

Is it too early to say FUK U CREATIONIZTS

I think NOT

LISTEN U TURBO CROUTON (TOMBOT), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 05:10 (nineteen years ago)

Sweet. At least the "official" language of Arizona is English now. [I'm re-reading Benedict Anderson's Imagined Communities right now, and this concept is more than a little surreal.]
