mister borges (darraghmac), Sunday, 31 March 2013 12:59 (thirteen years ago)

1-0 Benteke!

Des Fusils Pour Banter (ShariVari), Sunday, 31 March 2013 13:09 (thirteen years ago)

My god. At least once a game man, what the fuck are these little giffers trying to do to us?

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 31 March 2013 13:11 (thirteen years ago)

lovely goal

delete (imago), Sunday, 31 March 2013 13:34 (thirteen years ago)

?

mister borges (darraghmac), Sunday, 31 March 2013 13:36 (thirteen years ago)

great long ball out of defence finds coutinho on lw, turns inside and plays perfect diagonal thruball for jordan henderson to first-time chip back into the far corner

delete (imago), Sunday, 31 March 2013 14:21 (thirteen years ago)

Comeback kings. I only caught the end of that - Villa have nothing about them at all, other than one stud-rake.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 31 March 2013 14:22 (thirteen years ago)

Steady on there sunshine, you weren't that much better than us

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 31 March 2013 14:27 (thirteen years ago)

They werent any better than us but give them this

mister borges (darraghmac), Sunday, 31 March 2013 14:30 (thirteen years ago)

an eighth goal of the year for motm steven gerrard, he really is back to his best.

Tioc Norris (LocalGarda), Sunday, 31 March 2013 14:31 (thirteen years ago)

oh they were penalties right, no, BACK TO HIS BEST.

Tioc Norris (LocalGarda), Sunday, 31 March 2013 14:32 (thirteen years ago)

Like I say, I only caught the last quarter. You weren't exactly battering the door down tbf. There was one spell of possession where you couldn't even get out your own half, and there wasn't an intense press going on or anything.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 31 March 2013 14:41 (thirteen years ago)

They really shat it as soon as they conceded. First half was a more even affair.

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 31 March 2013 15:04 (thirteen years ago)

I thought you might be over the worst, but you want to see a bit of fight when you've got a chance of getting something. Like you said, Liverpool aren't that good.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 31 March 2013 15:16 (thirteen years ago)

I know it's highly likely, but I hope to fucking God it isn't Di Canio. He has absolutely no prior managerial experience with a Premiership side - in fact, his managerial experience is pretty much limited to Swindon Town and uh... yeah, Swindon Town! Not to mention he's known as a bit of a fascist prick (this is the guy that thought Mussolini was "a very principled, ethical, deeply misunderstood individual") - I dunno, I'm uncomfortable about the idea of Di Canio managing us in several ways.

As for O'Neill - yes indeed he has a history of walking, but it's unclear as to what's actually happened there. If he walked, he's just being true to form (and I've been expecting it pretty much since he started managing Sunderland), and if he got sacked, I think it's absolutely ridiculous.

The Jupiter 8 (Turrican), Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:08 (thirteen years ago)

Please God let Sunderland be relegated.

Oh, and get fucked.

The Jupiter 8 (Turrican), Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:08 (thirteen years ago)

he was sacked and i've FPed you for being mean about Paolo

parcheesi Wotsits (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:08 (thirteen years ago)

Fighting talk! I'm another wanting Sunderland to go down, on basis that they bring nothing to the party and it's unlikely Stoke are going to get dragged into this. Di Canio's arrival would make me reconsider tbh.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:12 (thirteen years ago)

sunderland is probably the club with whom our fans have the best relationship, if they get relegated we can have a big old love-in at the valley, maybe they could score three goals for us again <3

delete (imago), Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:14 (thirteen years ago)

had this argument before but Prem experience usually means "experience of failing in the Prem", at least with Paolo you know that motivation won't be an issue

parcheesi Wotsits (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:14 (thirteen years ago)

He's recanted, for what that's worth; also, Italians often do seem to have ambiguous views on Il Duce, I dunno how to interpret that whole thread.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:19 (thirteen years ago)

Wanted Sunderland to go down for ages because I'm your bog-standard neutral stan for Wigan and Bobby Martinez, also there's the whole Martin O'Neill thing. The sacking has made me feel a little less harshly towards the club, but y'know. If it aint them it'll probably be us.

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:21 (thirteen years ago)

oh and PDC would be applauded to the rafters in SE7, rightfully so

delete (imago), Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:23 (thirteen years ago)

always liked Martinez but am pretty disappointed about his defence of Macnamanamanamanaman the other week, Sunderland don't have anybody there who gets the pulse racing do they?

parcheesi Wotsits (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:27 (thirteen years ago)

I always liked Adam Johnson, but he's been a bit of a disaster. And he's the permanently-pissed-off type of mercurial too, so he's not the type you can root for when it's not going well.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:36 (thirteen years ago)

oh look paolo confirmed

r|t|c, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:43 (thirteen years ago)

cant help but think this is a mistake

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:44 (thirteen years ago)

David Miliband is reported by The Guardian to have quit as a director in protest.

Des Fusils Pour Banter (ShariVari), Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:46 (thirteen years ago)

does feel like an awkward one

he'll likely go in there all guns blazing vs a stodgy group of sods rich and experienced enough to tell him to do one

certainly gonna be a jolt to the system tho otoh, which is the whole point after all - relegation a certainty sticking with mon

r|t|c, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:49 (thirteen years ago)

"However, in the light of the new manager’s past political statements, I think it right to step down."

r|t|c, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:50 (thirteen years ago)

Sunderland don't have anybody there who gets the pulse racing do they?

Steven Fletcher!

Chris, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:50 (thirteen years ago)

wow a (former) labour mp with principals!

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:51 (thirteen years ago)

david miliband clearly doesn't want to be associated with a politically suspect leader with a history of waging war in the middle east based upon fabricated evidence, and endorsing drone attacks oh wait does the #satire go here or over there, cunt

delete (imago), Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:51 (thirteen years ago)

Not sure what he can really do to change things up with this team right now though, without Fletch you really do have to wonder where the goals are coming from. Maybe PoC can take on a temporary player-manager deal? Would certainly liven everything up a bit

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:53 (thirteen years ago)

David Miliband - leaving the UK to "work on behalf of some of the least fortunate people on Earth", and retaining his 15-day-a-year nonexecutive directorship at Sunderland. Miliband's Sunderland income since 2011: £125,000.

this pissed me off earlier (Observer's Said & Done column) because it's so fucking mean from a column that's supposed to be exposing hypocrisy and corruption

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:53 (thirteen years ago)

he was alright with o'neill's drone attacks tbf

r|t|c, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:54 (thirteen years ago)

tbf, what is miliband here if not a hypocrite

delete (imago), Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:54 (thirteen years ago)

What are you saying? That Mussolini was misguided but basically democratic?

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:57 (thirteen years ago)

di canio, to his immense credit, appears to have taken a step back from his former views and attempted to re-examine *what he is* - and is now preaching a fairly cogent man-of-the-people line (just so long as he has autocratic power over whichever team he manages)

delete (imago), Sunday, 31 March 2013 20:59 (thirteen years ago)

di canio still says he has fascist ideals, no?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 31 March 2013 21:01 (thirteen years ago)

In fairness, he hasn't had a 'racism incident' for nearly nine months now.

Des Fusils Pour Banter (ShariVari), Sunday, 31 March 2013 21:02 (thirteen years ago)

black cats, blackshirts, makes sense

jabba hands, Sunday, 31 March 2013 21:09 (thirteen years ago)

r|t|c, Sunday, 31 March 2013 21:11 (thirteen years ago)

OH, FUCK OFF FUCK OFF FUCK OFF FUCK OFF FUCK OFF! I AM NOT FUCKING HAPPY ABOUT THIS!

What time is it over there?

boxall, Sunday, 31 March 2013 22:15 (thirteen years ago)

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 31 March 2013 22:16 (thirteen years ago)

quality debate on 5 Live about how much of a fascist is di Canio just now.
