Hahah yes Teddy's "you're Bob Burger, right? No...? Bob.... Burgers?" with that incredibly confused face and Bob going "what!? NO!" was fuckin hilarious.

I honestly CANNOT pick a favorite character on this show, which means it's great imo.

Right? Theyre all great. Actually I think if anyone's slightly less endearing to me it might be Linda, if only because she can be so neurotically fucked up sometimes. The ep where she gets completely insane and obsessed over running a B&B was squirm-making!

she's has some of the funniest lines in the show, though, e.g. 'little king trash mouth'

i know h. jon benjamin really only does one voice, but that one voice is so great that i'd take it over 100 seth macfarlane voices.

nah there's subtle but telling differences between McGurk, Archer, Bob, and Jon Benjamin Has a Van.

yeah it's not super apparent but the archer-bob's burgers crossover made the differences clear enough and mcgurk and ben before that were different enough characters that it never felt the same even when mcgurk was interacting w/ katz's character on home movies.

OMG just saw the latest ep, that was excellent. It kind of hit home for me with the whole Tina and the 2 guys thing hahaha oh I'm sad.

I just noticed the other night that's he's also doing Jimmy Pesto, Jr. on the show. That preposterous lisp covers up quite a lot.

thz bloo spraying in the car was hilarious yeah, especially liked the guy in the car behind who at one point has his jaw on the floor at what he's seeing, then next image he's back to looking like nothing happened.

I do love how they play with his interests so ordinarily! No one ever questions it as weird, its just who he is! It is so awesome.

It just occurred to me that Gene, who's probably all of what...ten years old?, is well-versed in the basics of menstruation. I love this show.

Was reminded of a girl I knew in college who just HAD to get up onstage at a Clash concert to slap Joe Strummer 'cause she was so turned on. (She succeeded, and was tossed out by security. Or so her story goes.)

OK so as I just wondered aloud on FB, was the boyband stuff done by Flight of the Conchords by any chance? It didnt exactly *sound* like em but the absurd lyrics and the... cadence of vocal delivery, I guess, really sounded like them! And considering Kristin Schaal is on both shows... it wasnt in the credits so I could just be projecting.

Fuck those last 2 eps were insanely excellent though.

My brother, girlfriend, & I shotgunned much of the series on a family vacation at my parents house a coupla weeks back and I was reminded that one of the reasons I love the show is the acceptance of all the characters to the weird shit that happens, either blithely or with a shrug. Louise's seance and Bob's immediate joining in on the fun, completely accepting the premise and getting mad when her friends ask dumb questions. Bob getting drunk with and ferrying punters to some trans hookers he meets on a random night. That kinda thing. They will accept the premise of what's going on, but are not afraid to comment on how dumb it can get.

xp Drew Carey's brother on his sitcom was a transvestite, but the writers went out of their way to make sure people knew he was straight, and by the time he got married on the show they dropped the cross dressing altogether. That's about the closest I've ever seen, but Gene is something entirely different.

i watched the first ep of season 2 and i got a very strong whiff of family guy from it i'm sad to say :(

GAHHHHHHH. archer has a few of these little moments too. even one is too many, frankly.

Wow. I don't get that at all. "Bob's Burgers" has a solid anchor that "Family Guy" lacks. It's less frenetic, more level headed, dryer. The kids act kooky, but Bob is a solid dude and his wife is sort of like a weirder Marge whose crazy side has gone to the kids. The anarchic "Archer" is more out to gleefully non-sequitur offend, but "Bob's Burgers" has a good heart. When it does aim to offend, it does it in this really surreal innocent sort of way. Which I suppose could be equally off-putting.
