pronounced [lɑːnɑʔi]) is the sixth-largest of the Hawaiian Islands. It is also known as the Pineapple Island because of its past as an island-wide pineapple plantation. The only town is Lānaʻi City, a small settlement. The island is somewhat comma-shaped, with a width of 18 miles in the longest direction. The land area is 140.5 square miles (364 km²), making it the 42nd largest island in the United States.[3] It is separated from the island of Molokaʻi by the Kalohi Channel to the north, and from Maui by the ʻAuʻau Channel to the east. The United States Census Bureau defines Lānaʻi as Census Tract 316 of Maui County. Its total population was 3,193 as of the 2000 census.[4]. Many of the island's landmarks and sites are located off of dirt roads where four wheel drive is required.

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 22 March 2008 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

J0rdan S., Saturday, 17 May 2008 18:10 (eighteen years ago)

slow ass internet won't even load the new ep of the office on hulu

J0rdan S., Saturday, 17 May 2008 18:11 (eighteen years ago)

kci is a good airport for beginning or ending at, not so much for sitting around since there's not much inside security :-/

circles, Saturday, 17 May 2008 19:20 (eighteen years ago)

yeah my flight got delayed an hour and it's real fucking boring here

has anyone been to an airport where they make you pay to use outlets? they make you at dfw, so at least kci's got fucking free power going for it

J0rdan S., Saturday, 17 May 2008 19:24 (eighteen years ago)

Ouch that is harsh never seen that before. Of course a lot of airports don't have outlets and you have to search around for the ones the cleaners use.

Ed, Saturday, 17 May 2008 19:41 (eighteen years ago)

in nashville for 2 hours now

basically got a high-quality mini-mall/food court in the terminal here and the internet is quick and @ $9.99 for 2 hours it's pretty worth it

they also have country singers that say shit over the PA like "hello, this is X from sugarland. remember, if you see any suspicious baggage throughout the terminal, please immediately notify the appropriate authorities," which is pretty rad

J0rdan S., Saturday, 17 May 2008 21:47 (eighteen years ago)

deborah allen says to visit "flynashville.com"

J0rdan S., Saturday, 17 May 2008 21:48 (eighteen years ago)

Surmounter, Saturday, 17 May 2008 21:49 (eighteen years ago)

do they still have that smoking room?>

Surmounter, Saturday, 17 May 2008 21:49 (eighteen years ago)

it's like glass and smoky

Surmounter, Saturday, 17 May 2008 21:50 (eighteen years ago)

i'm sure they do, most airports do, but i haven't seen it

J0rdan S., Saturday, 17 May 2008 21:51 (eighteen years ago)

are you gonna get a drink?

Surmounter, Saturday, 17 May 2008 21:52 (eighteen years ago)

Surmounter, Saturday, 17 May 2008 21:52 (eighteen years ago)

J0rdan S., Saturday, 17 May 2008 21:52 (eighteen years ago)

Surmounter, Saturday, 17 May 2008 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

J0rdan S., Saturday, 17 May 2008 21:55 (eighteen years ago)

Ahh, the Nashville airport. I love that smoking room. It almost makes me want to quit.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 17 May 2008 21:58 (eighteen years ago)

hahaha

i love that you know it! there's something extra smokey about that one in particular.

mmm sbarro.

Surmounter, Saturday, 17 May 2008 21:59 (eighteen years ago)

I lived in Nashville for four years, so I'm pretty familiar with it.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 17 May 2008 22:04 (eighteen years ago)

It's kind of like an observation chamber from Silence of the Lambs.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 17 May 2008 22:04 (eighteen years ago)

omgosh i know. where did you live?

Surmounter, Saturday, 17 May 2008 22:05 (eighteen years ago)

I lived east of the airport, on Bell Rd (worked in Mt. Juliet).

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 17 May 2008 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

so sad you are underage. airport drinking is the best.

tehresa, Saturday, 17 May 2008 22:31 (eighteen years ago)

the most interesting characters choose to spend layover time in airport bars. can you go there and order coke?

tehresa, Saturday, 17 May 2008 22:31 (eighteen years ago)

i agree -- i also just recently discovered plane drinking. not bad at all.

Surmounter, Saturday, 17 May 2008 23:58 (eighteen years ago)

i flew on my 21st birthday and got all kinds of free drinks from flight attendants and ppl sitting by me and never even told anyone it was my 21st. totally cosmic.

gr8080, Sunday, 18 May 2008 00:07 (eighteen years ago)

My turn now. London city, the bar here is very dissapointing, however great to go through somewhere small enough that train-security-bar takes 5 minutes.

Ed, Sunday, 18 May 2008 15:15 (eighteen years ago)

that is great

Surmounter, Sunday, 18 May 2008 15:24 (eighteen years ago)

Why do bars in british airports suck so much. I would like a pint of say gin and grapefruit juice (preferably a dutch oude jenever but that is pushing it). Est Est Est, garfunkels and wetherspoons are not coming up with the goods.

Ed, Friday, 23 May 2008 17:53 (eighteen years ago)

You have got to be kidding. Dunno where you are, but Chavwick is even worse than that. You will be lucky to get lime in your G&T and the gin will be Gordon's.

BTW massive IKEA hassle, 15 minute fight with Computer Says D'oh type first thing this morning. Will mail ya later.

suzy, Friday, 23 May 2008 17:57 (eighteen years ago)

I've always wanted to post on this thread.

I'm in an airport - Philadelphia. Soon I'll be in Denver (ANOTHER AIRPORT!) and then Boulder.

Z S, Sunday, 25 May 2008 13:06 (eighteen years ago)

Damn, I wish I could join the Drinking at the Airport gang. But it's 9am.

Z S, Sunday, 25 May 2008 13:07 (eighteen years ago)

nothing is stopping you

Ed, Sunday, 25 May 2008 13:22 (eighteen years ago)

three weeks pass...

I've never flown Continental before so this is my first experience with LAX's Terminal 6. Not squalid but pretty worn down. On my way to SDF via Houston.

Elvis Telecom, Thursday, 19 June 2008 06:35 (eighteen years ago)

IAH is tremendously ugly. Terminals and passageways shoved together out of necessity with no regard to passenger traffic flow. Grafting TSA security checkpoints only magnifies things. Insult to injury: the first thing I see getting off the plane is the Fox News Store followed by a statue of George H W Bush.

On the plus side the breakfast plate special at Harlon's BBQ (eggs, bacon, grits, & biscuits/gravy) was outstanding and cost less than a single beer at LAX.

Elvis Telecom, Thursday, 19 June 2008 11:24 (eighteen years ago)

Further insult to injury: the Chautauqua (much-maligned CO feeder carrier) TundraJet you'll be on IAH-SDF.

Jeff Wright, Thursday, 19 June 2008 16:43 (eighteen years ago)

i will be flying through phoenix on my way to maui in a few weeks... how's that airport?
