Frankly the packaging is just as bad there, it's little tiny sheets in plastic bubble-sealed packets, inside an outer wrapper. But yes, I can probably get to some somehow in New York City.

get the ones that are legal-sized sheets for maximum value/minimal packaging.

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 03:58 (thirteen years ago)

Also good if you're an undersea lawyer.

new hope for orang-utan (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Tuesday, 5 March 2013 04:58 (thirteen years ago)

The seaweed sheets are very low calorie, iirc, like 100 for the whole package. If ya gotta eat a whole package of something, it should be that.

nickn, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 05:34 (thirteen years ago)

I tried those ones and there were one of the most vile things I've ever put in my mouth.

Jeff, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 12:02 (thirteen years ago)

Dried kimchi snack. Interesting but not something I want to continually put into my mouth.

Jeff, Tuesday, 19 March 2013 11:27 (thirteen years ago)

Really like the black and white rice rolls.

killfiled by life (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Tuesday, 19 March 2013 12:07 (thirteen years ago)

Jeez, this microwavable vegetable green curry bowl thing is stupid-bland and also is p much julienned carrots and some other julienned thing with maybe two pieces of v soggy cauliflower and nothing else. This is so awful!

funky divacups (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 20 March 2013 00:14 (thirteen years ago)

Somehow the True Thai Vegetable Panang Curry in the microwavable cup manages to provide more than half of your daily recommended sodium intake while still tasting like it needs salt (and aside from raw radishes and cucumbers, I don't put salt on things).

ditto, more like FALSE Thai

funky divacups (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 20 March 2013 00:17 (thirteen years ago)

Ha!

carl agatha, Wednesday, 20 March 2013 01:38 (thirteen years ago)

the veggie flax seed tortilla chips are p gross, I discovered. Not a fan of the Salsa Especial either.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 20 March 2013 01:41 (thirteen years ago)

Their salsa section is so intimidating but I've found that the best one is the double roasted; it is the only salsa I will buy from anywhere at this point (except maybe Green Mountain Gringo). It's so yum!

funky divacups (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 20 March 2013 03:37 (thirteen years ago)

I'll have to try it out!

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 20 March 2013 03:40 (thirteen years ago)

The tinned thai stuff is pretty tasteless, and are the taquitos.

Ask The Answer Man (sexyDancer), Wednesday, 20 March 2013 04:50 (thirteen years ago)

I will eat all the medium salsa especial.

kate78, Wednesday, 20 March 2013 06:18 (thirteen years ago)

Jar salsa is always disappointing, TJ's or not.

Jeff, Wednesday, 20 March 2013 11:00 (thirteen years ago)

you know what's awful is the frozen pad thai bowl, it's like 50% limp sprouts

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 22 March 2013 21:36 (thirteen years ago)

every six months i forget that i hate it and i buy one to have for lunch and i'm disappointed every time

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 22 March 2013 21:37 (thirteen years ago)

I haven't had a TJs bowl I didn't find disappointing. The frozen bowl concept has birthed so many horrors.

killfiled by life (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Saturday, 23 March 2013 05:38 (thirteen years ago)

garlic fries would be SO GOOD if the sauce was tweaked a little bit (the fries themselves are v quality) but as they are now they're too bitter or salty or *something* I can't quite identify. I was stoked too bcz I have had some really, really great garlic fries in my time!

funky divacups (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 24 March 2013 02:51 (thirteen years ago)

Almond butter == life worth living.

Leeena Dunham (Leee), Sunday, 24 March 2013 18:40 (thirteen years ago)

The Cookie Butter chocolate bars are really really good. Too bad about the brand name: SPECULOOS. Never have your brand name just letters away from the word "speculum"

ma ck ro ma ck ro (mackro mackro), Monday, 25 March 2013 03:49 (thirteen years ago)

OK, not a brand name. My bad. An actual name! How unfortunate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speculoos

ma ck ro ma ck ro (mackro mackro), Monday, 25 March 2013 03:50 (thirteen years ago)

speculoos cookies are a childhood favorite. so great

First coffee success at TJ's: Colombian Peaberry. Legit good.

Their Columbian Supremo was not to my liking.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 31 March 2013 18:29 (thirteen years ago)

that one was the best of the bad imo, but I really didn't like it much. This one is much better -- tastes passably close to coffee from a nu-style west coast roaster

i've a cozy little flat in what is known as old man hat (Hurting 2), Sunday, 31 March 2013 18:33 (thirteen years ago)

I might try it out!

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 31 March 2013 18:39 (thirteen years ago)

ugh I hated the peaberry.

congratulations (n/a), Sunday, 31 March 2013 19:00 (thirteen years ago)

really the colombian peaberry though? I tried other peaberries and didn't like, but I really thought this one was good.

Room 227 (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 4 April 2013 20:34 (thirteen years ago)

Room 227 (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 4 April 2013 20:34 (thirteen years ago)

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 4 April 2013 20:35 (thirteen years ago)

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 5 April 2013 01:12 (thirteen years ago)

I never know what tortilla chips to buy :(

Room 227 (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 5 April 2013 20:21 (thirteen years ago)

the round ones with salt

kate78, Saturday, 6 April 2013 00:42 (thirteen years ago)

the hemp tortilla chips were tasty when they had them. RIP oddly unpopular item.

Philip Nunez, Saturday, 6 April 2013 00:45 (thirteen years ago)

the regular corn salted ones are p good. i am wary of fucking with any of their other 'weird' ones after the veggie flax seed experiment.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 6 April 2013 01:28 (thirteen years ago)

even the regular ones! There's yellow corn and white corn and blue corn, salted and unsalted and organic and not-organic, round, triangle, "longboard", etc etc.

hoda nkotb (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 6 April 2013 03:15 (thirteen years ago)

i like white corn

blue corn still weirds me out

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 6 April 2013 03:36 (thirteen years ago)

triangles for me

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 6 April 2013 03:36 (thirteen years ago)

Frontera extra thick.

Jeff, Saturday, 6 April 2013 13:14 (thirteen years ago)

i have to tread carefully whenever i bring cheese into the house. i bought a wedge of the awesome double gloucester last night and it's already half gone.

is cereal a soup (get bent), Saturday, 6 April 2013 23:26 (thirteen years ago)

oh, I LOVE that cheese (and any other Brit cheese I've ever tried.

got a bottle of tj's habanero hot sauce not expecting as much heat as the label claimed. it's really really spicy with great flavor. I only wish it didn't have its final (unnecessary to me) ingredient xanthan gum which gives it just slightly more viscosity than I want. but it's still damn lovely

making plans for nyquil (outdoor_miner), Sunday, 7 April 2013 17:28 (thirteen years ago)

whole grain pretzel sticks <-- i have no idea why you would buy these but if you ever consider it.... don't

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 03:45 (thirteen years ago)

sometimes they stray too far into the "is this bird food or people food" area

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 April 2013 03:46 (thirteen years ago)

or the "am i eating sheet rock territory?"
