has nothing to do with the art, literal representations of jokes are never, ever funny

I think it does - I could see most Perry Bible Fellowship comics working as tweets but obviously the art really helps there

the best parts of some of these tweets are entirely in the phrasing and the description.

this is almost entirely a verbal joke. it's a verbal joke about an image, but the verbal turn is what gives it the action, or actually the multiple verbal turns, in the shift from direct address to action, and then the shift from craning to unscrewing, etc. the way it builds up the gag is all about how those few words are chosen. and how does one draw a "mystery" anyway?

they're in large part jokes about how we communicate in txts and on twitter. just like a hueg part of pbf strips are jokes about genres of comic and representational art, not the raw punchlines themselves.

i guess you'd have to cite examples but to me the art part of PBF is a great element of the overall presentation but not really integral to the joke.

meanwhile I think most UtilityLimb tweets are unfuckable for those reasons, but some of those comics seem like they'd work with better art

who is actually humorous on "weird twitter?" dril and utilitylimb and patricia lockwood are funny but like i followed rare_basement for a minute and it's just a menagerie of retweets from guys with "dudehugs420boner" names that are almost staggeringly unfunny

the secret is that 'weird twitter' is never humorous as you experience it in the present

like if a dude has >5,000 tweets then like 4990 of those are guaranteed garbage, and the other 10 are on favstar

yeah, twitter is full of that sort of noise, you have to learn how to manage it xp

you can manually turn off retweets by certain ppl u follow, iirc. that helps.

also, it's v v wise to block people who are sucky and bad so they don't unexpectedly get retweeted into your timeline.
