WTF with Marc Maron (it's a podcast)

Xpost as i said before I didn't know who Metzger was or anything about a NYT story when i posted that weeks ago, so when Maron brought it up seemingly out of the blue on his show after I heard Besser talking about a comic wanting to get paid I thought "o thats who he meant"

I really wish I had never the episode of Louie with Maron, because now I can never listen to the podcast without picturing jean shorts. :/

Maron and Gina Gershon's awkward flirting in today's episode is funny/cringey/sweet.

Just heard the Seth Green episode, good for someone I thought would make me cringe. Very interesting his info about US magazine changing ownership and becoming a tabloid about young starlets and the culture that followed.

I don't know if I entirely bought his theories about tabloid culture, but I found it interesting that it was something he'd clearly thought a lot about.

btw 25-year-old Maron upthread seriously uncanny somehow.

Holy shit. I'm listening to this Lynn Shawcroft episode and my mind is kinda being blown. I knew her by name thanks to Mitch, but I didn't know anything about her or know what she looked like. Anyway, long story short, turns out that the extremely inebriated, but extremely friendly "Lynn" I was talking to in a hotel in L.A. last fall was her. Weird because the whole conversation started when she overheard someone talking about Maron and we talked a little bit about comedy and Mitch, but at the time she just said, "yeah, I knew Mitch really well" and kind of changed the subject to talk about other comedians. She was really nice, but, wow, this is so weird in retrospect.

I love listening to Dick Van Dyke speak. It's so comforting.

Adam Parfrey! Haven't listened yet but kind of excited.

the Dick Van Dyke episode was good. Not MEl Brooks good, but very engaging.

Gave up on the Parfrey half way through. He seemed interesting but Marc was at his sycophantic worst.

When he started bitching about Art Spiegelman it was weird

i liked parfrey a lot. im not a conspiracy guy in the slightest but just human nature-speaking it's cool. i have apocolypse culture, most of it is too far off the deep end but even those essays def hold their fascination too imo. he just seems like a provocateur & generally curious abt lyfe, etc, lol @ "living up there w/ old hippies"

the ending of it was kinda mortifying, like marons entire sense of self worth was abt to crumble. they were really bad questions tho, like, 'so lots of your projects are just goofs rite?'

I saw him Tweeting with Phil Hendrie about recording their episode - this is such amazing news. Has the possibility to get pretty heavy and deep in places.

Oh man, totally want to hear that! I've always wanted to hear Phil on Comedy Bang Bang, too. Somebody make it happen.

Huh, I looked it up, but I have literally never heard of "Uhh Yeah Dude."

i've heard of that but not those dudes, nor have i listened to it.

Their names didn't ring bells at first either, but now I see the show title I know who they are. I listened to "Uhh Yeah Dude" a couple of times a while back but didn't find it engaging or amusing.

Episode 297 had the letters from the Korean students, but perhaps you have to be a fan already to find that as funny as i did
