Ok so I was wrong about the club he'd sign for, but spot on about his qualities tbh :)

He was great again today.

Vertonghen was excellent today and put in a couple of amazing tackles but he's been very good all season. Lloris was unlucky with the deflection for the Arsenal goal but was fantastic today, with most goalkeepers I would panic at the sight of them going so far off their line but he appears to have those crucial interceptions down really well, plus it gives us the opportunity to release the ball quickly and break.

Sigurdsson choked it in front of goal but give the man a break considering the two crucial goals he's set up for us this week.

Thought Arsenal were playing pretty well for most of the first half and their gameplan in cutting off Lennon and Bale was working but then they just fell apart. Spurs looked loads more threatening once Defoe came on for Adebayor.

This is probably the least hapless Spurs team I can remember, although I hesitate to fully commit to that statement before the end of the season.

I dont know how i'd put it but yr right, hapless isnt right either. But the second half was of woeful quality, bae and walker ceding miles of space and no real cover for the defence from midfield. I dunno what i've been seeing from spurs lately, mentally a lot less fragile alright, but no two players looked to have played together before, no moves, no linkup down either flank, obv a few good balls from sigurdsssssson today but not anything like the verve or cohesion we know this lot can muster on the ball. Not complaining, points on board show avb's system works. I just dunno how, nor why we have to be as poor as we have been lately on the ball under it.

adebayor can fuck the fuck off btw.

this is somewhat tiresome when you have just gone 12 games unbeaten for the first time in the epl

and with holtby, kaboul and the former inhabitant of the carcass that responds to the name emmanuel adebayor you would have been able to be more assertive in the second half, as it was nerves and the protection instinct took over

though of course you still won, and arsenal 'never looked like scoring'

parker's a problem it seems to me, doesnt sit like sandro does but doesnt plough forward b2b either, really seems to inhibit dembele whom i expected much better of - crying out for him to bring it out a bit and get counters going. lennon & bale withdrawn second half didnt help to release the self-inflicted pressure either

maybe seven or eight times in that period, he doesn't have any exceptional attributes but he is good in most areas (so similar to ekotto, with slightly better technique)

he mostly did well 1 v 1 vs lennon today and in controlling his flank, but he doesn't seem to understand the rest of the defence

szczesny - mertesacker - current vermaelen is just dogshit though

yeah monreal's merits will largely always be moot in this particular team tbf

he was p good today actually i thought, though promising still seems a stretch

yeah he is the reserve rb and as such he did alright, sagna is finished so they might as well play him the last couple months

idk i'm not sure if wenger is minded to see him in that temporary light

at least for the rb spot he might allow putting greater store in blood n guts brit loyalty than competence and whatnot

can certainly see him signing another rb for a reasonable fee under the vague idea of competition (aurier, janmaat, corchia) but not splashing out on someone who would demand selection (alderweireld, carvajal)
