How many times have Fulham worn that kit with the brown and white diagonal stripes? That's lovely.

suarez is like nothing i've ever seen at anfield. genuinely believe he'd enhance any side in the world.
― So: The Answers (or something), Saturday, 2 March 2013 23:30 (thirteen years ago)
Even Barca would be improved with Suarez in the team.
― Matt DC, Saturday, 2 March 2013 23:34 (thirteen years ago)
Delicious pass-agg-off between Pulis and Allardyce there.

Pulis or Allardyce?
― Matt DC, Sunday, 3 March 2013 00:04 (thirteen years ago)
yeah i seem to have fonder memories of torres in his lethal heyday but suarez has the better all round game and is more central to team play
Yeah this is why I asked really. Suarez's "work rate" tho deserves a better term. He fights harder than Torres ever did, tho Torres's magic seemed to come in two or three touches and from nowhere.
Suarez's involvement in games is just way higher. It'll be a miracle if he's still at Liverpool next season.
― Tioc Norris (LocalGarda), Sunday, 3 March 2013 03:49 (thirteen years ago)
somebody on the radio yesterday said that Torres conversion rate this season is 1 goal per 7 chances and Suarez's is 1 in 8. if that's true it just goes to show what bollocks bare stats can be.

― c'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas le beurre (imago), Sunday, 3 March 2013 11:46 (thirteen years ago)
mind you I agree with him - in all three cases I'd rank the assist above the finish
― c'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas le beurre (imago), Sunday, 3 March 2013 11:54 (thirteen years ago)
Nah first assist and finish likely both scuffs imo, tied
second assist and finish vvg
third assist and first touch were each heavy, dece defence dont concede
looking at run in, pessimist calls spurs finishing on 62 points.

That might well be true, Suarez does seem to miss a lot but crucially he also creates a lot more for himself than Torres does. Torres at his best was all about pace, movement and getting himself in the right places to collect the final pass and none of that has really been coming together for him for ages. If that stat is true it's probably because the chances just aren't coming/he isn't getting in the right places for them.
But it's probably bollocks.
― Matt DC, Sunday, 3 March 2013 12:28 (thirteen years ago)
i unequivocally hate united but that 2nd finish ws butter.
― So: The Answers (or something), Sunday, 3 March 2013 12:28 (thirteen years ago)
chelsea is where strikers go to die, sacrificed at the feet of their midfield gods.
― So: The Answers (or something), Sunday, 3 March 2013 12:30 (thirteen years ago)
I can believe it; there was also that stat about Liverpool having more shots than any other club in the top five leagues. 1 in 8 puts him on 168 shots in 28 games - that's feasible, he's that active.
― Ismael Klata, Sunday, 3 March 2013 12:32 (thirteen years ago)
my boy Santi talking about the BLITW
Compared to Spain, the football here is less tactical, but more fun to watch and play. There’s too much technique in Spain and they are held back by it. This makes the match more boring. There’s a better pace in England. There’s also more space, especially for footballers like me, and more time to think. Teams always want to attack and score goals in England. In Spain they are locked down by tactics. And the atmosphere here is just amazing.
― Number None, Sunday, 3 March 2013 12:41 (thirteen years ago)
The only stats you need to know about suarez vs torres are the no. of goals and the midfields the play in front of
― poll that whitey music pfunkboy (darraghmac), Sunday, 3 March 2013 13:02 (thirteen years ago)
Spain certainly give the impression of a country whose football is being held back by stifling technique.
― Matt DC, Sunday, 3 March 2013 13:15 (thirteen years ago)
yeah, boring isn't it?
― Number None, Sunday, 3 March 2013 13:16 (thirteen years ago)
Interesting how better pace translates into more space and more time to think
― Ismael Klata, Sunday, 3 March 2013 13:19 (thirteen years ago)
Also Chelsea's (central) midfield is completely unbalanced and dysfunctional and has been for a couple of years now, it's one of the main reasons why they aren't title contenders. It looked better when Rafa moved David Luiz into midfield but obviously he couldn't continue that and keep Terry festering in purgatory at the same time.
If anything Rodgers is doing a reasonable job with considerably more limited midfield players.

Parenting expert Sue Atkins, the author of Parenting Made Easy: How To Raise Happy Children, joined the condemnation.
“Using a baby to make a point about football is just totally inappropriate. This child has no say in this. It is just wrong.”
― r|t|c, Sunday, 3 March 2013 14:36 (thirteen years ago)
Perhaps the point about football might have been made clearer if there'd been another better baby made up as Aguero next to him?
