March isn't my favorite month, but February is my most hated month, so by comparison, March is pretty fucking awesome. And a sign of better things to come.
― Jeff, Friday, 1 March 2013 18:16 (thirteen years ago)
March isn't my favorite month by a long shot, but it's much much closer than, say, December.

― multi instru mentat list (Jon Lewis), Friday, 1 March 2013 18:18 (thirteen years ago)
my least fave are nov and feb
perenially
well guess what -- february is over. it ended YESTERDAY. today is 3/1/13.

January and September are my least favorite.
I have to like March because it's my birth month.
― Moodles, Friday, 1 March 2013 18:24 (thirteen years ago)
february? never heard of it!
― multi instru mentat list (Jon Lewis), Friday, 1 March 2013 18:27 (thirteen years ago)
february kicked my ass, so i'm relieved it's over. march is going to kick my ass too, but at least i have one ass-kicking behind me.

September to November are fully delightful months. December to March not so much, but I can deal.
― doctor, doctor, what's in my shirt (askance johnson), Friday, 1 March 2013 18:46 (thirteen years ago)
I don't get excited about March anymore, because March is the month of false hopes. March always lets you down. But yeah, at least it's not fucking February, by far my most hated month.
― cwkiii, Friday, 1 March 2013 19:17 (thirteen years ago)
i have to get excited about march or i lose hope completelyit's going to be rough going here while we transition, but things will slowly get better(as opposed to facing months and months of things slowly getting worse)
― and that sounds like a gong-concert (La Lechera), Friday, 1 March 2013 19:32 (thirteen years ago)
March is going to be a big improvement over Feb. 'cause I can get some seeds into the ground, continue trying to get in better shape, maybe travel a bit, smoke some ribs, etc
― I Don't Wanna Be Dissed (By Anyone But You) (WilliamC), Friday, 1 March 2013 19:41 (thirteen years ago)

― Gunoka Cuntles (Matt P), Friday, 1 March 2013 20:31 (thirteen years ago)
winter is just the worst here. december through february the valley is basically mordor.
now the snow is half-melted and i see crocuses. garden clean-up time in a week or so.
― Gunoka Cuntles (Matt P), Friday, 1 March 2013 20:38 (thirteen years ago)
my birthday is in april so I appreciate March as the leadup
also daylight savings starts in a couple of weeks, and I'm excited to resume my evening walks after work
it's pretty delightful all round. I say yes to MARZO

march is okay, but it inevitably leads to july

I really want to believe that March can't possibly be any worse than the three months that preceded it. I really, really want to believe that.

I don't know who introduced these official designations of the dates of the seasons but reckon they were overstepping their remit. We should just define them asWinter: Dec-FebSpring: Mar-MaySummer: Jun-AugAutumn: Sept-Nov

there's just a difference b/w astronomical and meteorological seasons is all that is

the 23 1/2 degree axial tilt of Earth is what designated the seasons

Winter: Dec-FebSpring: Mar-MaySummer: Jun-AugAutumn: Sept-Nov
meteorologists agree with you 100%. they use those same months to designate the seasons. for them spring starts on March 1st, summer on June 1st, and so on .

It definitely means something now -- scary storms. But almost every month means scary storms anymore.
― WmC, Monday, 2 March 2026 14:59 (three months ago)
the relief of march's onset is partially about weather but not entirely. for me, who does not celebrate Easter or anything related to it, March also means months and months of relief from family-centered holidays PLUS relief from walking on ice (frozen water). that's enough relief that i feel genuinely grateful for it.
MARCH! it's a month, a noun, and a verb.
― Piggy Lepton (La Lechera), Monday, 2 March 2026 15:03 (three months ago)
I am looking forward to a panopoly of March activities

it's march. what's going on? weather continues to be weird. it's been very warm and rainy. misty today. we've had our warmest winter on record. also just about the worst snowpack. every year is a new adventure when the climate is changing so rapidly. kinda worried about the summer. one day at a time.
i'll take the weather right now though, for sure. any snow in the valley we received from the same freak storm that turned into that noreaster on the east coast is long gone. my main running trail is back in business. 60 degree highs are incredibly pleasant. the direct sun has a fair amount of energy behind it. equivalent to its strength in september! it's still a somewhat similar story as it always has been, spring. the air is cold and the sun is hot. after the waning of the light its intensity is a shock and it'll burn ya. around september i've already been through summer and my skin is brown and unaffected by it.
