I just ordered a book from a shop on The Great Western Road - sadly that's the closest I can see me getting to trying Glasgow for the foreseeable future.

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

It is fun being able to post to this thread. Though I do have a tendency to take over threads.

Hi glasgow thread!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 15:32 (twenty years ago)

I don't understand. Is cozen in Glasgow? I thought he was going to Vancouver.

I think I owe him something.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 15:35 (twenty years ago)

the arches is awful and a horrible space and the sound can be bad too

but I will be at instal

gotta buy that ticket soon, while I still have a student discount

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 15:43 (twenty years ago)

I am where the heart is

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 15:44 (twenty years ago)

bummer (abt the arches)

i thought the CCA was gd, for subcurrent

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 15:46 (twenty years ago)

i like a seat, for my fat arse - are there any seats, at the Arches?

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 15:47 (twenty years ago)

cozen, that was a question

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 15:50 (twenty years ago)

they will have seats in the arches for instal but there won't be enough. because of the acoustics, the sound in there is really bad for any music that is intricate or has melody. i really wish sun city girls were playing somewhere else but at the end of the day i'm happy enough that they agreed to play glasgow at all.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

: )

I am in glasgow adam and look forward to your arrival!

to be fair to the arches I have never been to a 'rock' gig there

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 16:05 (twenty years ago)

I hate the Arches. I have my reasons. Grimly, you'd fit right in at the next Girlie Weekender in Dublin. Sick In Bins is what we do.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 20:15 (twenty years ago)

But you owe it at least for that pretty picture, surely?

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 07:09 (twenty years ago)

No, I owe Beverley, who took it.

Mädchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 08:28 (twenty years ago)

I don't think you're giving due credit, here.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 08:39 (twenty years ago)

i have never been to optimo
i am incomplete

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 12:30 (twenty years ago)

i have been to the arches tho. it was OK
anyone picnicing this weekend? there may be baseball! and cake!
also.. jens on sunday? anyone? anyone? beuller?

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 12:33 (twenty years ago)

In response to two ilXorZ not having money till payday*, I have slipped my trip by a week and will now be in Glasgow 5th till the 9th.

I know of no plans, but I will make sure I get out. Best chance of success is probably the Monday night.

Do your magic, Glasgow, and decide on a pub.

*This is a lie. My contractor's subcontractor can't keep to programme.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 12:43 (twenty years ago)

Saturday - we are having a flatwarming party. Everyone is welcome, of course.

Sunday - Jens, yes. Also Marceline on an indie panel answering questions with Stephen Pastel! Quite ridiculous. Then Optimo. Hope Jens does not play too late as Optimo will be BUSY.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 15:12 (twenty years ago)

bus from london to glasgow takes about 8 hours. (there are fun overnight ones, too, if you are good at sleeping on a chair it's a great option cos it's like you haven't wasted any time commuting)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 15:18 (twenty years ago)

Well, my friend says he could be up for this, so we might do Sep 11-13.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:27 (twenty years ago)

Does Stirmonster read this thread?

"Optimo DJs" were going to be playing San Francisco later this year, but now the dates seem to have disappeared! What happened?

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:31 (twenty years ago)

sometimes but not often. he may well do if he reads the referral logs to echatio (if that's what you call them).

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:33 (twenty years ago)

have you heard the Gavin and Delia record, jed?

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:34 (twenty years ago)

no, have you?

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:35 (twenty years ago)

well that's exciting!

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:35 (twenty years ago)

yes i have.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:36 (twenty years ago)

isn't it!

xp

how?

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:37 (twenty years ago)

... and are you sharing?

: )

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:39 (twenty years ago)

did u slsk?

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:40 (twenty years ago)

I am on slsk, if that's what you meant

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:42 (twenty years ago)

I didn't get it from slsk but I am sharing it. I haven't been able to hear the whole thing yet but what I did hear was good and makes me wish I had a better stereo. Actually I don't have a stereo at all.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:42 (twenty years ago)

i can't work slsk.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:45 (twenty years ago)

but i have a good stereo!

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:45 (twenty years ago)

have you tried ssX (soulseeX)?

that's what I use, without any problems

except I had to open some ports to listen, I think

I get a bit vague on ports

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:46 (twenty years ago)

It's not hard, cozen figured it out!

xp-I would happily trade use of slsk for a good stereo!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:46 (twenty years ago)

cozen I got your messages on slsk but days after you sent them because I switched to SSx and I can't figure out how it works.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:47 (twenty years ago)

you homo

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:48 (twenty years ago)

no, actually I'm "nordicskilla"

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:49 (twenty years ago)

what's glasgow's best building?

what's on Sauciehall street? Did there used to be a Saucy hall there?

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:53 (twenty years ago)

sauchiehall street is the name of Ivor Cutler's pet cow.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 21:58 (twenty years ago)

adam - yes i do read this thread from time to time. it was only ever very vague that we would be playing san francisco,

stirmonster (stirmonster), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 22:59 (twenty years ago)

:(

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 August 2005 23:00 (twenty years ago)

flatwarming eh? when we were going to get our invites? hmph. you suck
oooh could this weekend see my optimo cherry popped?!

dahlin (dahlin), Thursday, 25 August 2005 08:04 (twenty years ago)

this weekend sounds like it's going to be a great one, but i have to work. booo! be sure and have a drink for me on saturday, glasgow. it's my birthday, and i'll be far, far away from home.

michael grant (michael digby grant), Thursday, 25 August 2005 10:34 (twenty years ago)

I want to be on a pastel with Stephen Panel too.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Thursday, 25 August 2005 10:38 (twenty years ago)

awww poor michael. happy birthday lovey!

dahlin (dahlin), Thursday, 25 August 2005 10:38 (twenty years ago)

Hurrah for aldo's work meaning I don't have to raid the petty cash tin at work for booze money on Monday! My pub suggestion = not the Drum and Monkey (non-smoking now, innit, so opportunities to laugh at lapsed ex-smokers gagging for cigarettes limited) and not the Lansdowne because we've been there twice recently and it will bring back horrible memories of (1) being stalked by the paparazzi and (2) the Artmedia Bratislava horrorshow.

Other than that, I have no idea. What about that Station Bar place near grimly fiendish's work?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 25 August 2005 17:29 (twenty years ago)

I think I might be an asshopper.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 August 2005 17:57 (twenty years ago)

APPLICATION DENIED
