then I found 'weird twitter' reddit and it was a bunch of people who also grew up playing pokemon in middle school and I was like fuck yeah

yeah but those were the dudes who wouldn't even trade u a poliwag. nobody wanted to hang out with those dudes.

My feed consists almost entirely of basketball junkies with a small assortment of brooklyn internet media types. It works for me.

I really like how twitter has taught me to reconstruct stories backwards. like when I'm catching up on my feed and somebody's tweeted a 10 tweet long story or treatise and I have to read it backwards. that's great

Aside from my other complaints, this is why I can't get on with Twitter. I don't want to have to check it constantly just to keep up and have some semblance of context.

If you block someone they won't show up in retweets. If you go to a user's page you can turn off stuff they retweet.

Possible reason why all this friendzone shit is so creepy number 1 million: you very rarely get the sense that the guy who complains about being friendzoned actually, in any way, could be said to 'love' the girl in question. He's essentially making a legal argument about how much he may have expended on driving trips or gifts, what signals the girl might have sent, what they might reasonably have been construed to mean, and how much sexual attention he is therefore entitled to.

It's like listening to someone discussing a dispute between two businesses or about an extension to a house. I wonder if it has something to do with 'litigation culture', if that's a thing.

thing about the "friendzone" is that it's usually the result of a creepy manipulative guy not making his intentions clear and this not having to face the consequences of those intentions. It's like when people go on "dates" without either being sure it's a date. Plausible deniability.

reddit (and other for-profit media linking sites) are based on that kind of exchange so it isn't too surprising to see these weird communities finding a home there.
